  6. koolkatken on January 15, 2021 at 2:52 am

Looking for any way to use google less and less. Just don’t trust those guys anymore.

  7. Whoda Kat on January 15, 2021 at 2:54 am

How lazy are we now, that some people would take the get to know me faster / no privacy option, over taking 30 seconds to tell an app what you like and pick some reputable sources.

And I guess I’m the only one that searches the internet for things I’d rather not see all over different apps.

  8. Harwinder Singh RupaL on January 15, 2021 at 2:55 am

Tech reviewers are just confused : first they against the google why they collect so much private data and then they praise google news to show news to your personal taste right from the sign in…..

  9. Bizzey on January 15, 2021 at 2:56 am

google news is rly good trust me. the only reason i would migrate from that to apple news is for the UI. i logged in for a few secs and some of the news already caught my attention and i started reading it.

When there was Apple Newsstand, there came Google Newsstand

When they changed it to Apple News, Google Newsstand becomes Google News..

Google is no copycat I swear it by the Old Gods and the new..

  21. Hans Lecaros on January 15, 2021 at 3:18 am

WOw I did not know AppleInsider now mandates which App is good for you and which one is not good for you… what a bunch of Apple butthurt fanboys and morons. Apple Insider is truly pathetic!

  22. HoneyChai on January 15, 2021 at 3:18 am

They’re both shit. You’ll never get real news in a FAMGA app. Use Pocket or other and curate your own corpus.

  23. Taichi White on January 15, 2021 at 3:18 am

Apple News isn’t available in a lot of countries including Japan… so I’m with Google on this

  24. billy fatbowe on January 15, 2021 at 3:19 am

    ….Just download the FOX app…..LoL…..seriously……….;-),,,,,,

  25. Daniel Escalante on January 15, 2021 at 3:19 am

My favorite is still Apple News. Once I chose various topics to follow I get a very customized experience. Even when I went and chose some topics that I did not agree with but would help me gain a balanced perspective Apple news was able to deliver that 👍🏽

  26. Patricia Pelaez on January 15, 2021 at 3:22 am

Hrm i like google news than news

  27. Rogayah Dotmy on January 15, 2021 at 3:23 am

How do i get this news app outside US/UK & Australia? And after that can i go back and set again to my real region?

  28. Muruli Shamanna on January 15, 2021 at 3:24 am

Apple news is not available in all countries. Google news is available every where

  29. patrick jackson on January 15, 2021 at 3:26 am

Google news just looks so much better plus it offers a darker theme.

  30. PSA de Lachute on January 15, 2021 at 3:26 am

THE «APPLE NEWS APP» CANNOT BE FOUND, DOES NOT EXIST IN THE «CANADIAN APP STORE»

  31. Tom S on January 15, 2021 at 3:26 am

Google has become a copycat – sadly

  32. Anthony H on January 15, 2021 at 3:27 am

  33. GoudenDynamietHD on January 15, 2021 at 3:27 am

Google News is my favorite news app of all time…

  34. Jake S on January 15, 2021 at 3:28 am

Both apps literally look the same and do the same thing…

  35. Repulse theMonkey on January 15, 2021 at 3:29 am

Apple is so scared of what users think, they prevent comments on the News App in the App Store. No wonder, because it is horribly biased Leftist media brainwashing. Not even the pretence of fair, balanced journalism.

  36. Ataur Dewan on January 15, 2021 at 3:30 am

Apple News not available here in Italy, hence Google News wins by default for me. I’ve been using Google News for the past few days, so far so good.

  37. Manish Tomar on January 15, 2021 at 3:31 am

    GOOGLE News is better .

  38. Ahriman13 on January 15, 2021 at 3:32 am

You know what google news is SHIT. Simplest features are missing in google news. Like blocking a particular subject, my google feed was always full of fucking Kim Kardashian ( the retarded bitch) and these kind of stuff, there’s no way to avoid these shit in your google feed.
Only because of this reason I just did get rid of that shitty google news

  39. Karthik Eshwar on January 15, 2021 at 3:34 am

In Italy we only have Google News so far…

  42. Silvio Britto on January 15, 2021 at 3:38 am

Good video. I only note that the more polished design in Apple News it’s kinda understandable, since it’s an older and more matured app. Amazing fresh start on Google News (Newsstand was basically another app).

  43. nobrainerneeded on January 15, 2021 at 3:39 am

    Just use Feedly

  44. pablo9364 on January 15, 2021 at 3:41 am

Is it possible with apple news to exclude the fake news services ie CNN and BBC?

  45. Mark Langston on January 15, 2021 at 3:41 am

Pretty good review though the idea that I want Google to know my every thought so it can feed news to me that grows my echo chamber doesn’t sound like a good idea to me. What ever happened to discovery and learning or experiencing something that’s not in our bailiwick? I’d prefer a news experience that forces me to get outside my bubble and read something I might not otherwise have discovered or searched on my own.

As for the "learning curve" you suggested Apple News requires; I don’t know what you or anyone would find difficult about browsing Apple News. At this point in today’s grasp of technology I don’t see how anyone could get lost or have trouble navigating Apple News. By all accounts Google News took inspiration from Apple News.

But you’re right about one thing: the design aesthetic, animation and use of color in Apple News is much better than Google’s almost overtly spartan design. Every news article is the same size and other than the Ken Burns effect on some of the articles there’s very little call to action. While I do like the Full Coverage feature of Google News, Apple isn’t exactly a slouch when it comes to finding articles with content similar to what you’re reading.

The one flaw I see in Google News, and it’s something you pointed out, it’s that the articles aren’t articles but just links to web pages, though I suspect that’s because Google — who, let’s face it, is an advertising company — wants to ensure that all those Google Ads are still gaining traction. If they were to develop an app that handled articles the way Apple News does they’d probably have to rewrite how Ads appear. Although you’d think Google would just open up another advertising portal and squeeze more money out of advertisers.

Overall both services are good though, and I’m sure I’ll get "fanboy’d" for this, but I much prefer Apple News. It’s my daily driver for all my news and an app I check often throughout the day. That’s not to say another news app couldn’t tear me away but Google News definitely ain’t it. Not for me anyway. Besides, at this point the less Google knows about me the better. I’m not all that thrilled about being a page in their "ledger".

As long as its not CNN

    Apple News

  49. Gabriel Agra on January 15, 2021 at 3:45 am

I’m an Android user, and I would be pretty happy if we had an good news app like Apple News, not Google News (it’s so buggy)

  50. Shubhendra Singh on January 15, 2021 at 3:46 am

How is it creepy when you yourself have searched on Google for those topics. It is not as if you searched/browsed those topics on some other website.
