Klipsch Reference Premiere 7.2 Surround Sound System – Review

Klipsch Reference Premiere 7.2 Surround Sound System – Review

Klipsch’s Reference Premiere system aims to deliver some serious bang for your buck. The technology behind some of its ultra-high-end speakers has trickled down to the Reference Premiere series, offering the company’s best sound for the dollar yet. The over-the-top system featured here runs $5500, and that includes towers in the rear surround position, which is completely unnecessary (but, hey, we were really going for it here!)

We used the Klipsch RP-280F ($579/each) for the front left/right and rear surround channels, with dual 8-inch drivers and a 1-inch Tractrix Horn tweeter in each. For the center channel, we got the big boy: an RP-450C with four 5.25-inch drivers and 1-inch horn tweeter. The side surround channels were held down by the RP-250S, with dual 5.25-inch drivers and 1-inch tweeters each. And finally, LFE information was belted out by two gargantuan R-115SW subwoofers, with 15-inch drivers and 800-watts of power each. Total system weight- 480 pounds. Total system cost- $5500

Would not waste my money, Klipsch is ugly and sound is poor, on a tech test, mic on a scope wave forms are distorted.

I like your setup but $5,500 is a lot , don’t get me wrong I like the klipsch surround speakers , but I’ll settle for my Paradigm 90v3 front towers with built in subwoofer on each, paradigm 90 center and Polk audio monitor 70s for rears , and 4 kickers for overhead with a Pioneer SC95 receiver to power it all

  3. Audio Electronics on January 5, 2021 at 2:25 am

Klipsch always kept their quality and amazing sound!

Where did you get the Atmos demonstration disk?

  29. Chevy513 on January 5, 2021 at 3:03 am

I see that you have your left and right front speakers and the subs next to them and I noticed you have one closer to the TV than one of the front speakers and one further away from the other front speaker. I have a 5.1.2 system and I have always heard different things as to where to place my sub, and that is with me just having one sub should I place it closer to the TV than my front speaker or should I place it further away from the tv than the front speaker, my concern is that if I place it closer to the TV than my front speaker is that it will drowned out the sound coming from the speaker next to it. If you have any advice on this issue I would like to hear about it. BTW I don’t have a large living room which is why I’m not running a 7.2.4 system and for the size of my living room my sub is way overkill, it’s a Klipsch reference 400watt 12" sub.

The hell are you doing putting these awesome pieces in a goddamn cafeteria!??

  31. Thomas Daniel on January 5, 2021 at 3:04 am

We wanted to hear the system! Grated phone speakers won’t do justice to the sound quality, but would have at least to have heard it.

  32. Taz on January 5, 2021 at 3:04 am

What AV stand is that is it still available?

  33. Uche Oji on January 5, 2021 at 3:04 am

Guy has a supercar and talks about how amazing the engine notes are, but fails rev it up for us.

  36. Chris Romberg on January 5, 2021 at 3:10 am

  41. coop presling on January 5, 2021 at 3:16 am

Yeh but It costs $7,000 u idiot, do you think that an average joe can afford that. If I were you I would just buy a ligitec system or a cheep Sony surround sound system they work, I do have one of thes klipch systems and they don’t sound that much better than the Sony surround sound system with a 10” DD car audio subwoofer with a 4th order box that I built ok have a great time goodbye

Gotta love the nice big projector… nice and washed out to the point of not being able to see. I always prefer a TV.
