VIZIO OLED TV Price Drop! 55-inch $900; 65-inch $1500 – As Good As Black Friday?

VIZIO OLED TV Price Drop! 55-inch $900; 65-inch $1500 – As Good As Black Friday?

Best Buy USA has dropped the prices for the VIZIO OLED TV if you are a member: the 55-inch VIZIO OLED55-H1 is now down to $899.99; whereas the 65-inch OLED65-H1 has been reduced to $1499.99. These are prices that are unlikely to be beaten even on Black Friday.

Thanks to Tyler Pruitt of Portrait Displays for the heads up, and Chris Heinonen of The Wirecutter for the Best Buy Member price screenshot.

We also give some preliminary findings for our eventual VIZIO OLED review, including an HDMI 2.1 bandwidth of 40Gbps rather than 48Gbps, as reported by the excellent Murideo Seven-G signal generator.

Prices went back up. May have been a price mistake or a VERY short sale.

Also VRR/Freesync/G-Sync is completely broken on it.
"This TV has variable refresh rate support, but there are a ton of bugs and issues when using it. VRR can be enabled with 1440p or 4k content, but it doesn’t work at all on any port and constantly tears. It can be enabled on a G-SYNC PC, but it makes the TV crash every time, and therefore doesn’t actually work. FreeSync is enabled with 1080p content between 40-60Hz, but there’s some tearing. To enable VRR, enable Game Low Latency and Variable Refresh Rate." from rtings

  3. Michael Chu on December 9, 2020 at 9:20 pm

Where is this deal? One day only?

  4. John Greenfield on December 9, 2020 at 9:21 pm

I bought a 65" Monday night. I really like it. But I’m having a little trouble calibrating it. Seems a little buggy. Or my untrained eyes aren’t so good… If I can get it calibrated a little better it was a steal.

  5. David Le Sénéchal on December 9, 2020 at 9:24 pm

I don’t know where this screenshot was taken…I don’t see those prices right now on the Best Buy website…..

  6. Marc Moreau on December 9, 2020 at 9:25 pm

Vincent you are killing me!! I was all set to buy the LG CX and you release this new video about Vizio’s price drop at Best Buy US. ***** Key Question: LG CX 65 @ $1849 or Vizio OLED 65H1 @ $1500. Is LG CX 65 worth $350 price difference vs Vizio OLED 65???

  7. Propermonkey on December 9, 2020 at 9:25 pm

I remember buying my first tv, 32" fullhd lcd 899€

  8. Bill Whelpley on December 9, 2020 at 9:25 pm

Had Vizio for couple of weeks, great potential but lots of bugs. My av receiver is a TX-RZ820, not exactly entry level and I had a lot of trouble getting a picture via the HDMI pass-thru. Had to fiddle with the Vizio HDMI settings after not much customer support. Finally got a picture but half the picture settings including contrast, motion control are grayed-out so I can’t calibrate. Great price, and potential is there but my experience and others suggests Visio has kinks to work out to make it really worth even the budget price point

Sub-$1K for OLEDs means that a newer, better tech is on the way. So manufacturers will loosen their grip.

However, compared to LCD/LED, you’ll lose shadow details and brighter highlights with OLED compared to LCD/LED.

I bet you’re waiting for that Vizio money to come in before reviewing, but it hasn’t come in. 😅🤣😅🤣😅😂😅😂

What I would like to know is if you are watching cable tv, YouTube, Netflix how much difference is their really in all these tv’s. Would most people notice a significant difference between a $600 65" Samsung Crystal (cheapest) and top tier Samsung $2500 QLED, vs LG OLED. Ie, real world viewing not ultimate lab testing of 4K or 8K to determine the technical best sets. My 6 year old 1080 Samsung still looks very good. Same type question for upscaling 1080. I’ve heard that a lot of these sets can actually make for a worse picture.

  11. Bobby Harris on December 9, 2020 at 9:26 pm

must have been a one day deal. They are normal price online

  12. nick martinez on December 9, 2020 at 9:30 pm

Anyone know if they will have that price again on the 55inch? I know 2 weeks ago the 65 was on sale but not the 55. I really don’t wanna go on actual Black Friday :/

  13. Marlo S. on December 9, 2020 at 9:32 pm

Poor Vinnie seems like a good guy. Cut the guy a friggin break. You got the poor guy following you around all day he can’t do everything.

  14. Bman 1620 on December 9, 2020 at 9:36 pm

I’m tempted but I’ve seen too many cases of burn in that took weeks to go away or didn’t go away at all, no thx. Pony up for a BX or CX.

  15. Anibal Perez on December 9, 2020 at 9:37 pm

I yust look at best buy is steel 1300.

  16. KodakChris on December 9, 2020 at 9:37 pm

I’m really debating at this price point should I be getting the vizio oled or the sony 900h. Its for PS5 of course. I just want something that looks beautiful all around when I’m watching movies and gaming. Kinda hard to ignore that vizio at $899 but the sony 65" for $999 is good 😩😩 decisions

  17. Usman Dar on December 9, 2020 at 9:37 pm

Is it possible to get this shipped to England?

  18. DEUS CRYPTO on December 9, 2020 at 9:38 pm

Love the VIDz Bro, keep em’ coming! You are one of the reasons us consumers know more about TVs than the folks who work in the TV section at the stores… salute

  24. Truth on December 9, 2020 at 9:44 pm

I added this vizio 55 inch oled to the cart in my bestbuy account and it still no info about the 899 sale price.
I have called 3 stores and waited and waited in vain for someone to answer. Even tried online chat with no success. Feels like trying to contact an Internet scam seller.

    Hey,
Reference the comment for ‘help along the way’ so to say. I live in central London – Westminster. I’m up for assisting ex gratis and to pick-up skills as I do so hopefully. If that location is near enough to be useful.

  31. lanfear63 on December 9, 2020 at 9:48 pm

Must have been a typo, the Oled 55" is currently $1299.00 and the 65" is $1799.00

  32. Cormac Schuringa on December 9, 2020 at 9:48 pm

    I’ll work for you

  33. Aaron S on December 9, 2020 at 9:51 pm

Just in case you need more people asking you to review the Vizio OLED, the hell with your procrastinating cousin Vinny, now that you’ve finished your shootout review, PLEASE review the Vizio OLED.

    🙂

  42. John Wakefield on December 9, 2020 at 10:03 pm

£1140 for a 65" OLED, we are getting rinsed in the UK aren’t we 🙁

  43. Kevin V on December 9, 2020 at 10:07 pm

For $400 more you can probably get an Sony A8 on Black Friday. I bought mine for $1300 in Prime Day 2 weeks ago.

  44. Larry Taylor on December 9, 2020 at 10:09 pm

But I thought you said the vizio oleds are horrible and still havent been fixed correctly

  45. Ye-ROC Hawkins on December 9, 2020 at 10:09 pm

I gotta ask Vincent…bc FOMO is over on his channel claiming the Vizio OLED has 48gbps. Receiving 12 bits with 4K120 via the XBSX. You’re claiming it has 40, and I’m much more inclined to believe you, since you actually have the tools to read the EDID, to verify this. Can you do some testing with this. I mean the XBSX is only 40 gbps anyways. Plus these are all native 12 bit panels. I know there can be some advantages to 12 bit on a 10 bit display, but I feel like this guy is misinforming people.

  46. Daoud on December 9, 2020 at 10:10 pm

Picked it up. Easy setup although I was deathly scared of handling because it’s both heavy and thin at the same time.

The picture quality is a quantum shift and from what I was using before….4K Samsung and Vizio led. My eyes have to adjust. Tested out a bunch of movies including the GOT infamous dark episode and have a new appreciation for the fight scene.

Been waiting a while because couldn’t justify a 1500 price tag for oled, jumped at 899 from Best Buy.

  47. Jeffrey Robinson on December 9, 2020 at 10:11 pm

Hey, I just logged into my BestBuy account and still see the Vizio OLED 55" at $1300 and the 65" at $2000. Do I need to get an upgraded membership or something to get the $900 and $1500 prices? Help!

    That technicolor hat hahahaha

  49. Matt on December 9, 2020 at 10:15 pm

If it doesn’t use 4k120 or vrr then wtf is the point?
