Best Stock Android Smartphones (2022)
Reviewing the best Android smartphones in 2022 with that stock Google UI, no added launcher shenanigans. Including the Pixel 6 flagship phones and budget-friendly 4a (or 5a in America), Nokia 8.3, 5.4 and XR20, and Motorola’s Moto RAZR 5G and Edge 20 Lite/Pro. These are my favourite stock Android mobiles right now to suit any budget, check out my unboxings and full reviews here on Tech Spurt.
First up, Google’s own Pixel 6 Pro and original flagship are among the greatest camera smartphones. You’ve got a water resistant design, wireless charging, a crisp OLED screen and that Tensor chipset. Although no headphone jack or expandable storage. For less cash, there’s always the Pixel 4a or Pixel 5a, which are more compact and boast the same stock Android support and timely updates.
The Nokia 8.3 5G is one of the best alternatives, offering solid specs and a very good camera for around £300 in 2022. Or on a tight budget there’s always the Nokia 5.4, while the super-durable Nokia XR20 boasts that same stock Android design.
As for Motorola, check out the RAZR 5G if you’ve got stacks of cash. A solid bendy mobile, although the battery life isn’t great. Much cheaper is the Moto G31 which will suit most users just fine, while those Moto Edge 20 series handsets sport gorgeous OLED screens and specs to suit a range of budgets.

Usually I would want the bigger phone but in this case I would take the regular pixel over the pixel 6 Pro because I’m so tired of these goddamn curved displays it was futuristic-looking 4 years ago f*** 5 years ago actually but I’m so tired of seeing it and when companies do actually make a nice phone with a flat display they always make the bezel so f****** big why couldn’t the regular pixel 6 have smaller bezels like the six Pro just because it has a flat display I just want a company to make a square phone that has a flat display with bezel so thin they don’t even look like they’re there and this rounded Corner screen thing is getting a little out of hand cell phones are basically starting to look around anymore I like a slight curve to my panels I think Apple completely overdose their curves on their phone displays
do any smaller smart phones exist anymore?? They’re all so huge and don’t fit into the pockets of women’s clothing (if we even have pockets!). It’s such a pain in the arse

Thanks for the video. To me, the choice would be crystal clear, if only Motorola offered more support for their devices in terms of OS updates and security updates. They only promise ONE OS Upgrade and two years of security patches. I wish they’d offer software support comparable to the likes of Samsung!
So this basically leaves me with the question, do I want a phone that has nice software, but underwhelming software/security updates, or do I want a phone that looks like Kids UI, but comes with 5 years of security patches?
On the official Moto Edge 20 website, Lenovo even advertises with "Business-grade security". I have to disagree on this one!

Again – Don’t By Nokia. I’m looking for a replacement for 7.2, which was just horrible – infuriating software bugs and a notorious habit of the power button dying – finally after 2 years of careful use it just won’t turn on.

I love my Pixel 3a, but it’s slowing down and I need more storage on device. Unfortunately, the 6a seems set to ditch the headphone jack, which for me is a deal breaker. Additionally, Google’s customer service in India is shit
I’am using a Huawei P30 Pro at the moment I bought the Google Pixel 4 I don’t know weather too switch from my Huawei P30 Pro too my Google Pixel 4.

Nokia 5.4 sucks audio and video stutters slow and dodgy fingerprint sensor can’t even get a decent recognition considering consuming all five fingerprint record for a single finger.
Best stockish Android is Oxygen OS from OnePlus. Unfortunately, that might be going away.

Love my xiaomi mi 11 . Had the pixel pro 6 and very disappointed ! Sent it back and after researching coming from Sony 1ii (which I loved) got the xiaomi and wow!! Got for £540 off xiaomi site with free ear buds ! Great phone infact stunning.

I picked up a Nokia 7.2, and that has me swearing off Nokia phones. Ignoring how long it took for Nokia to release Android 11 for it, they keep missing security patches, at times months at an end.

Nokia is amazing. I have Nokia 8.3 5G , completely a monster Android phone. Super fast , full day battery and Great camera.
Loved my Mi A2 Lite… It was pretty much a perfect cheap pure android phone that they simply ruined with some bad software updates near the end of its life…. So good that phone was.
