elden ring killed this before it even launched.
imo the gold standard for action rpg combat is NIER Automata. All arpgs after this should be looking to better or match this if they can xd. Im also really looking forward to a game revolving around the classic Journey to the West fable.
seeing this all i can think of is a souls style castlevenia game with these graphics… that would be epic

"this combat seems souls like", this doesn’t look anything like souls besides 3rd person view. This looks like a combination of Ninja Gaiden, Devil may cry and metal gear phantom pain.
No fighting game or ninja game can never touch a classic game for years to come.

Elden ring is the only souls game I’ve ever played so to hear, over and over again, that 3rd person RPG game where you fight enemies is a souls game template is weird as heck to me. I thought souls games were unique because combat was unforgiving and lore made little to no sense. I’m pretty sure games before 2009 and after were doing the older-the-shoulder camera angle too…
It use to be a joke to compare everything to dark souls even on this channel now people are doing it unironically.

The staff is actually sentient like dr strange cape.
Ruyi jin gu bang (i.e. golden staff) is the favorite weapon of Wukong. He stole the golden staff from the palace of the east sea dragon (east poseidon? whatever.). The staff weights around 68,000 kg and it changes size according to Wukong’s will. Wukong will normally shift the staff to needle size and keep it in his ear.
If you speak Chinese you’d also be stoked at the indicative quality of dialogue scripting in this game. It is written in absolutely delicious prose

Now I have played elden Ring. This wukong game’s gameplay looks far better than Elden Ring. Literally I don’t feel anything new with Elden Ring Gameplay. Sure it’s graphically good, and I really don’t know if there’s any story. But the gameplay is just same.

Regarding damage and stats, they have said in past interviews that those elements haven’t been finalized yet and were only there as kind of fillers in the trailers.
This looks very very good. Great use of UE5. Really trippy cool boss designs. Definitely a Souls type game, and hey, why not. I’m going to speculate–and this may be a bit negative Nancy–the story is going to be confusing and lackluster. I hope I’m wrong, and I hope the lore is rich and inviting…but it just feels wonky.
It really looks awesome! But i’m somewhat reminded of Bright Memory: Infinite, which also has amazing graphics, but is barely 10 hours long in total.
So in a way, i feel like their quoted time could actually be the truth.

Seriously, aside from the obviously rechargeable healing gourd, this game takes FAR more from the likes of God of War or Devil May Cry. Hell, even fucking DOOM would be a better comparison than "Soulsborne".
Edit: To clarify, the reason this statement angers me is because the SECOND people see even ONE tiny detail that could possibly appear like it might be lifted from FromSoft, the damn comparisons come SCREAMING in, and it’s getting frustrating. Yes, FromSoft’s series is incredibly groundbreaking in its deceptive simplicity, but this game is far beyond some DarkSouls knock off. We have to move away from using DarkSouls as a comparison for literally everything. We are risking a rut we will never break out of if this shit keeps up.
OHHHH FUCK. i absolutly love anything Japanese especially historical japan. same with China (while being mainly historical china not all of china like japan) idk what it is about eastern history but i cant get enough of it. kinda really exited about this game mostly just due to the journey to the west stuff, the historical eastern landscape along with martial arts and anything Samurai (or other cultures kinda warrior class IE Samurai from Japan or knights in Europe). can more devs just cater to me and make more and more Sengoku period games like sooooo much could be done man i cant get enough

The first thing I thought when I saw this game was not Elden RIng, but God Of War! I only recently played God Of War and I thought it was the same studio
