I’ve just stopped mine !! I don’t watch tv end of ! I agree with you that you should just close the door my only worry is my front door is open always as I have gates in front and last time a gentleman opened the gate my dog dragged him 20 ft by his thigh right mess so if they come then I’m afraid I won’t be held responsible

  2. Mario Stelzner on October 12, 2020 at 3:41 pm

IS IT REALLY WORTH GOING TO PRISON FOR NOT PAYING YOUR TV LICENCE FEES. IF THAT ISN’T ENOUGH INCENTIVE TO PAY YOUR TV LICENCE FEES, CONSIDER THIS. PRISONERS DON’T TAKE KINDLY TO PEOPLE WHO SKIP OUT ON PAYING TV LICENCES. SO WATCH YOUR BACK IN PRISON!

    WAHAHAHAHA AHAHAHA LOL

I have had a tv licence all my adult life. I have just emailed them and cancelled my direct debit. I have an 84 year old mother in law with dementia. Who doesn’t understand why she suddenly needs a licence. And forgets by tomorrow that she does. She is partially sighted and can’t read letters. Now yes, I could get her a tv licence, but what about all those old people that dont have anyone to look out for them. If they were going to do this at all, they should have stopped giving out free licences to new people as they reach the age. Leave those already on free licences alone.

  4. Tony Venn on October 12, 2020 at 3:42 pm

2 minute 20 he says that you need license to listen to any bbc radio content. TV Licensing website states following. "Do I need a TV Licence to listen to the radio?
No, you do not need a TV Licence to listen to the radio (including on BBC iPlayer)." You might want to correct that statement made in the video.

  5. Rt Fury on October 12, 2020 at 3:43 pm

Question. If I get a letter from tv licensing in my name? Can I put "return to sender not known at this address" on the envelope, or should I just ignore it??

  6. scud100 on October 12, 2020 at 3:46 pm

Can anyone confirm is this still works on 2020?

    Defund the BBC!

  7. Mac !! on October 12, 2020 at 3:47 pm

After John sweeny was filmed being homophobic, rascist and trying to set Tommy Robinson up for a made up sex crime (all secretly filmed) he was having the cheek to label Tommy the same and when Jimmy Saville was still paid while they knew he was abusing vulnerable children because their ratings where more important than destroyed children’s lives I decided NEVER to buy a licence… Don’t you people realise we could all bring the BBC to its knees… No one needs a licence, I use my TV for netflix, prime and YouTube, don’t need a licence and all the crap the BBC use is available online everywhere anyway for free.
Within 6 months they’d fold if we all stuck together and unified over this.
I still remember the day they use to barge into your home and you’d end up with a CRIMINAL record for no licence and these morons enjoyed it.
I love the fact they no longer have that power.
Whenever I’ve opened the door and ask if I’ve a TV I tell them to mind their own business, you don’t even have to give your name and the police are neutral… They simply join (extremely rare occasions) to keep peace… Not on licence OR your side.
I’ve saved £157 a year for last 5 years. Power to the people 😂

  8. John on October 12, 2020 at 3:48 pm

I cancelled my licence because of this video. It has over 600K views and I would love to see what percentage of people who watched this decided to cancel.

  9. Lesley Ann on October 12, 2020 at 3:49 pm

I thought we paid the tv licence for BBC and not ITV. Its confusing what we can watch and not watch.

  10. Forest Denizen on October 12, 2020 at 3:52 pm

Why does this come across as a bbc propaganda video?

  11. Dean Benson on October 12, 2020 at 3:53 pm

    Hi.

That was a question i did have. If i have Sky in my home do i need to pay even though i DONT watch BBC programs.

Seems the answer is yes?, i think i need to cancel my sky Tv package now, as i dont watch more than 5% on sky the rest is netflix and you tube

  12. Keith Bessant on October 12, 2020 at 3:54 pm

Cancelled my tv licence. They replied with demands and threats. How can they be so arrogant? Maybe because they know TVs brainwash people.

  13. Ian Turnbull on October 12, 2020 at 3:54 pm

Looking at the government site, it says this:

    Part 4
    Licensing of TV reception
363Licence required for use of TV receiver

(1)A television receiver must not be installed or used unless the installation and use of the receiver is authorised by a licence under this Part.

And TV Licencing’s own site says this:

Think you don’t need a TV Licence?

No TV and not using any device to watch live TV on any channel or TV service, or any BBC programmes on iPlayer?
    Empty property or unoccupied address?
    Covered by another licence?

The word "and" in the above paragraph is quite interesting. So you musn’t have a television regardless of whether you’re watching "live TV".

So my assumption was what you were saying is true, but these two rules would appear to say, if there’s a telly at the address you need a licence.

What adds to the confusion is elsewhere on TV Licencing’s site is:

    Legal framework
    View in Welsh
Why do I need a TV Licence?

A TV Licence is a legal permission to install or use television receiving equipment to watch or record television programmes as they are being shown on TV or live on an online TV service, and to download or watch BBC programmes on demand, including catch up TV, on BBC iPlayer. This could be on any device, including TVs, desktop computers, laptops, mobile phones, tablets, games consoles, digital boxes, DVD, Blu-ray and VHS recorders. This applies regardless of which television channels a person receives or how those channels are received. The licence fee is not a payment for BBC services (or any other television service), although licence fee revenue is used to fund the BBC.

Which is perfectly in line with what you are saying.

It would seem it is this ambiguity that aids the Capita folk doing their bullying tactics. If a magistrate just viewed the first quoted paragraph from the act, I could see someone getting found guilty.

I’d be interested to hear your views on these misleading regulations.

  14. Jack Don on October 12, 2020 at 3:55 pm

Hi I have a sky box at home so do I need to pay for a tv licence. But we mainly watch everything on Netflix.

  15. paul english on October 12, 2020 at 3:56 pm

I would add, they need to lose more licence fees than they gain, by chasing old people. So all you able bodied people out there, cancel your licence and watch normal catch up except bbc

  16. Khoshal-khan on October 12, 2020 at 3:57 pm

    Hello dear.
We have for 2 years Don’t wached anything else except Netflix, last week I cancelled my tv licences and its confirmed as well by tv licences that after 2 years i need to do the same if I didn’t want tv licences.
My question is Do we need to worry even if my tv is in living room and the tv licences people want to visit house???

  17. Red Hughes on October 12, 2020 at 3:58 pm

Great. Many thanks for your advice – have canncelled as of today and applied for the refund.

  18. Twonko on October 12, 2020 at 3:59 pm

I think that paying B grade celebs millions a year to play records or talk for 20 minutes a week about football is a fine use of licence payers money. I just won’t help fund it.

  19. redsky106 on October 12, 2020 at 4:00 pm

I have sky however only watch catch up shows or you tube or netflix,,,, if they came into my house and saw the sky bow could they say I need a licence because I have the equipment to receive live tv

  20. Charles Mouse on October 12, 2020 at 4:03 pm

Excellent advice, presented in a reasonable and non-combative way. Thank you.
Of course the idea that one has to fill in an exemption form to avoid paying for content you don’t want AND in the process of opting-out are prevented from watching content by providers who have nothing to do with the BBC isn’t compatible with the idea of living in a free society.
Indeed that is what I would call extortion.

  21. brian milligan on October 12, 2020 at 4:06 pm

You Mention Radio & I Listen To radio A lot So Have I to Get Rid Of Tv & Radio Because BBC is on my Radio Like Its A Mess We All Need A Little Entertainment When Old Or Alone But No One Wants Militirism BBC Chaser Thugs

  33. SUB3ERO !! on October 12, 2020 at 4:23 pm

Coronation street and home under the homer are pre recorded program… NOT LIVE SO I GUESS U CAN WATCH IT ??

  34. Film Fan 1234 on October 12, 2020 at 4:24 pm

They updated it now where even if you watch netflix, YouTube etc you need a lincense also as it is linked to BBC shouldn’t the lincense only cover the BBC. There should be a way to take BBC off if you don’t pay linease but let you watch other channels. Could you do a video on thoughts on over 75s having to pay linecense unless in receipt of pension credits. As the BBC claim they don’t have money to fund the linease yet have just increased BBC wages by millions. If you watch all 4 on roku box u have to pay linease u less u can delete itv hub and all 4.i don’t pay linease but I only use my TV for games and dvds

  35. Colin Hamlet on October 12, 2020 at 4:24 pm

Would love to stop but wife wont grrrrr

  36. Malcolm Parkin on October 12, 2020 at 4:25 pm

I always thought it was being in possession of the equipment that can receive BBC that was the decider, but apparently not.

  43. Clover Mark on October 12, 2020 at 4:32 pm

You are doing a great job! I’ve not paid about 4 yrs and not heard or had a visit from BBC in that time. Just a letter about 2yrs in to ask if I still wanted to carry on without a licence.

  44. Charu Gera on October 12, 2020 at 4:33 pm

Do you need a tv licence if you have a tv stick like Roku or fire tv-assuming you watch content only on the stick and none of the bbc stuff? Thanks

  45. Lord Flashheart on October 12, 2020 at 4:34 pm

Thanks mate, just moved house and declared I don’t need one, I totally agree that I don’t wish to have goons coming to my house and ruining my day plus I don’t want to start verbally abusing them on my doorstep.
