Curious what gear I use to make these videos? This has been my setup since 2018:
Sony a6300 camera but for 2020 I’d recommend its replacement Sony a6400: https://amzn.to/32EUOtq
Sigma 16mm lens: https://amzn.to/30y7lfE
Rode SmartLav microphone: https://amzn.to/32Cvg02
I’m guessing that is $80 AUS. It is only $49 US.
I thought Xoss made bike computers themselves, like the G+
It costs 33€(bit over $40) in AliExpress, not $80. It is also very wrong review. The unit is not to be used without sensors – without sensors it’s just useless piece of trash(you can buy GPS smartwatch and put on your bike handlebars). The main drawback is the download speed from the unit to phone – like if you can just leave it there and paste data it’s ok, but 5hour rides took me 15-20minuted to upload. I rode all kind of weather and I don’t frankly know what reflections the reviewer is talking about – it’s perfect: led turns on on day, turns off at night to support you with visibility. The battery time is around 40hours(was able to survive full 7 days of bike packing with it) edit: however maybe the reviewer got different version of it, because I own two and one got tad bit different labelling on it
What do you think about Magene C406?
Coospo b200 is much better for around the same price plus uses xoss app to
Can someone explain to me, how i can save my ride data or sync it on my phone with this computer?
Love your content,
I started riding again in August 2020, after not riding for ~10yrs (Broken frame – Rear spoke dragged the derailleur into the wheel, ripped it right off the frame with 15 km walk) inclusive of a back and hip injury, so pretty much starting from scratch again.
I went with the Bryton Rider 15 series, unit itself is ~$90-110 AUD, sensor bundle is another $40-50 AUD. It does pretty much everything this unit does, the function output on display pages are editable to a degree (Positions are fixed in regards to where they can be displayed) Text is quite visible and it syncs fairly quickly with sensors (ANT + BT)
Paired with a cheap ~$80 AUD phone to allow for GPS Connectivity it is more than good enough for what I desire, which is speed (km/h, average) distance and cadence, Altitude gain, gradient output, etc is a pure bonus for me.
Only minor issues for me, update on data display is slower than what I would like though guessing the same for every unit that is wireless out there as well as the speed sensor icon on display constantly flickering as if it is trying to pair (Does not stop functionality of unit or sensor) lastly like all other units I guess sometimes minor screen glare/reflection at poor angles.
Very persistance review.. thanks a lot, i am goin to get the unit..
My phone doesn’t support Ant+, so too bad for me.
The temperature sensor doesn’t work for me. Always it shows 0c or 32f. Also, I can sync data that are one day older. Anyone facing the same issues? Is there a way to fix the issue?
It would be great if you could get the Stages Dash head units (L10, M50, L50). The L10 is going for $75 USD right now and looks great for training with power if you don’t need maps. I just ordered an M50 and hope it lives up to what I’ve read.
In some part of your video you had the DST and ODO in ft, and then in other part you had them in miles. How did you change the unit on ODO and DST data?
The use of the XOSS app makes me think it’s some kind of ODM situation.
And I guess Betteridge’s Law applies?
Can it say mph
Thanks! Great review
No support for Bluetooth is a deal breaker
First comment, :). Now to navigate out of here.
Does it has a auto-pause function?
Probably good for people are beginners and use strava phone app to record their rides. It will save them their phone battery and they will be able to see enough data up front for an average rider. But yea, I would suggest most people to just put that $80 towards a $400 wahoo.
I got a unit and realised it was super huge.
The screen is way too big unless you have eyesight problems. The computer is a tank and weights a ton. Super thick, not aero at all.
Thanks! Always look forward to your content! My wife wouldn’t use 95% of a Garmin’s capability but her simple Cateye has no capability. Do you know if you can manually enter an odometer reading when setting it up? Speed, mileages and HR are all she’d probably use. Stay safe and healthy!
Bitch I’m *poor*
She’ll be right
i have it and its simple i am happy
I may have a defective unit. I just did a 36-mile ride and the M1 reads under 32-miles. Yes, I wait for the GPS to find satellites before starting. Also the temperature reads 5°F higher than ambient air temperature.
I have been using my Samsung galaxy watch but I was thinking about buying one of these
So does it GPS?
The backlight is not always on. It depends on GPS position and solar calendar (?). It’s on since around 1 hour after civil dawn, yet I don’t when it goes off. And it works like that since at least firmware 1.20.
As for overall, the M1 works fine for me, but I haven’t found a way to reset odometer without resetting the device.
The Magene C406 is much better and a lot more feature rich. for a bit cheaper.
another great review!
How accurate a GPS sensor (without speed sensor)? And another question: what iz function "current ascent" ? If i made 3 Hills ( ascent and descent) in one ride – which data will be in that field? Sum of all 3 ascent or only the last one?
Tnx for na answer in advance!
Hi 🙋♂️ Thanks for great review 👍 It would be awesome if you could review also the new Aerothan made by Schwalbe 🥺🥺🥺
This looks like an exact ripoff the Meilan M1
I have one. Cheap Chinese device. Firmware and XOSS application are mediocre. The accuracy of the GPS positioning is not happy. One question, how to synchronize the clock with a smartphone? Currently, тhe clock in my M1 is inaccurate by a few minutes. How to adjust it with the XOSS application?
Xoss is the a producer of sensors and has also a cheap road computer… This is a compatible device
Nice review, thanks a lot
Why do these things need a bicycle wheel sensor when they are already GPS? It would blow a hole in the market if you could use this on anything, anywhere.
Got your hands on a bryton 750 yet?
Does the device auto pause?
Thanks, your review is spot on! I was looking for a low end bike computer with power readout, and just bougth the CYCPLUS for 50 CAD (38 USD) and it came with the front extended mount. ((1)) I’m impressed by the design, quality, functionality and value for what i payed. Fully matches description on Cycplus website and your review. Excellent appearance, better than I expected. ((2)) I successfully connected all my sensors (Garmin heart rate, Giant Ridesence speed/cadence and 4iiii single side crank power meter) without any problem. ((3)) Recorded my first indoor workout session and compared the data on Strava, with other computers (Coros pace 2 watch and Kurt Kinetic trainer App). Data is very close and acceptable. It’s Canadian winter for me so did not yet try the GPS on the road, but already I’m happy with results. ((4)) The Z1 front mount works, but bulky and flexible, and will buy an aluminium holder
Just bought for $55
Hello! Is it suitable for indoors training on the trainer? Thanks in advance.
is this better than magene c406?
Hi, does anyone know how to reset the odometer or return the GPS to the factory configuration?
Thanks
I have a question sir… If, in case, i connect the speed sensor to the M1, it won’t calculate the speed from GPS right?… Then my question is when i finish the ride, does the M1 record the position and will it plot the route line that just finished??
Anyone is welcome to answer here.
I once read from online someone said when his M1 paired with speed sensor but detached the magnet from the wheel, then the speed on M1 keep showing 0. So he could not record any session because the Time was frozen at 00:01 though he’s moving (and GPS is connected all the time).
4:02 also if you own a powermeter you can probably splash out on a more expensive head unit.
Bryton offers great GPS units and great prices. I bought my unit 4 years ago and it’s still working great with 33 hours battery life. All of their units upload straight to Strava.
The coospo bc200 is better, you have more options for the same price
