BestBuy Warranty explained. Don't buy it, at least not for now
Bestbuy replacement plan. Warranty at best buy explained. Best buy offers accidental warranty and replacement warranty, in this video we are going to talk about bestbuy geek squad replacement plans, not what I thought it was.
Thanks for the information šš¼
I got the 2 yr replacement plan for an xbox elite 2 control and because the nearest best buy is on another island, I was told I have to fly to the other island to get the replacement. Wtf?!
I bought a gopro 8 6 months ago, of course bought the 1 year geek squad protection plan, the guy sold it, said "oh its such a good plan for the gopros, I anything happens to it, bring it back for a store credit or another gopro 8.."..boy was I fooled, went in today to best buy and my gopro 8 got damaged from using it while riding my bike..Best buy said they have to send the 8 in to gopro so they can determine what to do for me…what the heck! Even on the website it says a replacement would be made..
They screw me big time , store manager didnāt want to help me, gave me a number to call, I called and they hung up every time I call. Called 4 times and got someone, he lighted and hung again. UGH Iām so fken upset right now.
I found out that same thing when I turn in my ps4 pro for repair
11/24/2021: This is currently on their website for product replacement: "We’ll check out what’s wrong and get you a replacement (if the product is available) or reimburse you." Note "if the product is available". Everyone knows the revolving door for manufacturer products.
that’s why there’s Costco
"Well, isn’t that a bitch" lmao
Bro stop repeating yourself!!!
You said the same thing for 10 minutes literally
ehhh … it’s sounds like an insurance policy …. in that case this sounds like suffering from loss oversion. It really isn’t a bad deal, still come out ahead. Will they refund the money or issue store credit if someone does not want to may the difference for the full price of tne item?
Thanks so much for this video. I always suspected a scam and never purchased the "replacement" warranty. This confirms my suspicions.
Best Buy and Geek Squad and the warranty is a sham. You will NOT be taken care of when you need them. SEE Best Buy and Geek Squad Broke My TV !

Best Buy ..Buy At Your Own Risk!!!!
"i said good day"
Iām going there today to pick up a cell phone that I ordered at a deep discount online. I actually canāt wait to see if they mention the āreplacementā plan and what the āfine printā actually says! Thanks for the heads up…..glad I saw this today!
that s happend to me today !!!! the corona virus is in best buy ,jajajajaj ,,, i paid program plan on my phone , when i try to used it today !!!!! the big new i have to pay $90 extra for replace my phone and they will send me another phone !!!! fuck that…dont buy replacement plans on nothing ….. its my advice.
Does the 2 yr warranty plan cover controller if you do physical damage to them
Then shouldnt you have paid the amount of the device without the special deal? Since best buy charges based on the sale price?
It sucks when you get warranty and BB takes forever to restock the item that is defective. Sucks when they do not have it in stock.
My best advice – buy the extended warranty directly from manufacturer. There are some situations where buying the geek squad protection is a must. Headset, 1 year manufacturer, purchased for $150? Get that 2 year warranty from geek squad. $800 UHD tv from samsung? Go straight to the manufacturer and purchase their 3yr warranty. You will find that it costs less to get the 3 year warranty from manufacturer. BB does honor their replacement plans. As long as A) its in stock B) a replacement but not the same in stock C) A gift card/credit. But they are costly for 2-3 year terms. The higher the purchase price of item , the higher the protection plan options.
I mean your literally getting the money back for the item. Idk how thatās a bad thing lol. And well also if they still have the same product any Best Buy should be able to even if you bought it on sale put it through the pos system and it will auto change the price in it to the sale price so you get the same item back and it evens out to 0. If they are out of stock of that item they are unable to fulfill that have to do store credit.
GSP is full proof. If you want a more expensive item you just return the one you have and pay the difference. Itās fuckin simple and this video is ridiculously wrong

I have a question my speaker are beginning to act up but I donāt have the original box for the speaker can I still Exchange them And I still have the receipt with 2 year warranty
This is probably not the right place to put this, but this video was the first result when I searched Ā«Ā how to cancel geek squad protection planĀ Ā».
I bought a laptop on sale in 2018. The sale made it so it was half the price, but you have to get a subscription for two years, but you could cancel it after 1, if I remember right.
Now, I procrastinated a lot, whatever.
Today, I wanted to finally cancel it, because my brother and I (itās on his credit card) thought it would be over by now.
Come to find, Iām still on the contract until 2023!
Other than that, you HAVE to talk to customer support in order to cancel your subscription.
Also, according to other customers, they might not even want to hear about it, keep charging monthly, or end up charging you years after you cancelled it.
I canāt go to a store in person, not that it would even help, because my closest best buy closed down in 2019.
Also, my brother got a new credit card, hoping it would stop the charges, but it didnāt, wich surprised all of us.
Iām currently charging my phone so I can contact tech support.
STAY FAR AWAY FROM THESE STORES
Amazon asurion is your best buy lol
1) buy a new Samsung phone and pay $110 for a Geek Squad plan
2) 1 week later it stops working so you return to store
3) They tell you they no longer work on Samsung phones but will mail it to Samsung IF I pay them $90
4) I ask to cancel the Geek squad plan and request the useless plan. They offer me HALF what I paid a week ago.
I thought the 2yr replacement plan. Would give you as many replacements needed for the 2 years. I use get my replacement plan rolled over to my new exchanged item but now it gets cancelled and a new plan is needed
They donāt appreciate anything people do for their company even if you are the at the top in sales in the whole store.
Can somebody tell me if I can get my Sony WF-1000XM3’s replaced? So this is what happened: I bought them for $200 and they asked me if I wanted to add a 2-year extended warranty for $60… I purchased the plan and I decide to leave my earbuds on the couch, my dog completely destroys the right one, but I still have all of the pieces, they’re just very deformed and chewed… The damage looks like it obviously came from a dog chewing them, having that said, what’s the best way to place a replacement claim or get my money back? I bought them for full price so I don’t really care as long as I have the money to buy them again, but I would like them to give me whatever is possible for it, I’d even go as far as using different excuses to why or how the earbud was destroyed… I think I really am screwed, those $260 bucks ā
Every couple of years manufacturers have a new and updated product version for example the speaker you’re talking about, How can you expect that same speaker to still be manufactured and in-stock? Why would you purchase extended warranty for a $60 item? The extended warranty covers malfunctions after the manufacturer’s warranty expires and they agree to give you in store credit up to the value of what your device was originally purchased for. Like my new $2,000 telephone no special discount applied. If I drop it lose it damage it that’s my bad luck hopefully I don’t…
they really donāt my friend thatās the problem i but a dji mavic 2 pro from Best Buy The worst mistake I ever made $600 warranty ā¹ļøš£š¤¬š¤¬
Thatās why you needed to try another Best Buy lol all do them say different things all the time
I have found the protection plan interesting I get the 2 year plan then either everything goes good and it’s not needed until just before it is about to expire then the item "breaks" or malfunctions they then give me the same amount of credit that I originally bought it for I go pick out the newest model pay the 6-10 bucks for a new plan rinse repeat.
Yeah fuck best buy
Excellent video and explanation. So you buy the product on sale to save money, pay $20 for the protection plan. Then when you need to use it they’ll only give you credit for the amount you paid. And you have to pay the extra money to buy the same product that you need. And Best Buy comes out ahead with the extra bonus $20 for the plan
I need technical support for my pc I bought from Best Buy with the normal 1 year warranty Idk who to callšš
DBG Media Inc.,
You got bad customer service at that Best Buy. You should of went to another Best Buy. Or at less contact corporate office.
I have bought 75% of my electronics from Best Buy with a replacement plan. I have return items that malfunction or broke. They replaced the items within a few minutes.
I recently had to take my son’s $2,000 Gaming Computer after 1 year of use. It would over heat and shutdown. It was on sale ($300 off) when we bought it.
Once Geek Squad took a look at it. 30 minutes later we walked out with a brand new replacement one. The product wasn’t on sale any more. We still got it with no problems.
DGB, you should video recorded the Best Buy manager telling you to read the fine print. Send a copy to the corporate office. You would of gotten your replacement bluetooth speaker. That manager would of been fired. People like that should not be in customer service.
okay so I have a pc and I have 3 year warranty and I remember when I bought it they told me if thereās ever a problem they would replace it with one of that year is that true?
I am working right now at Best Buy for 5 days already, and my managers made it crystal clear that the only Protection plan that actually covers for accidental damage (up to 2 times) is the monthly Protection+ Plan. Monitors only have the normal Protection plan and it only covers the manufacturer defects for 2 years, up to 5 years. For earbuds and speakers, I know there is a 15% deductible and give you a gift card BBY same price and tax, but minus the 15%.
All I heard was I bought a speaker $60 bucks I paid $20 warranty fucked up the speaker and got $60 back but if I didnāt get the warranty I wouldāve been left with a worthless speaker I chooseš¤
thank you for the information about the replacement plan i never knew that they will only give you store credit rather rather than giving you the same tv or something equivalent. Geek squad protection plan is shit this is just my personal opinion and not worth the hassel
For starters you didn’t get trolled or scammed. I would have to side with the manager with this event. I used to work for Best Buy and I even remember that the GSP Product Replacement Plan worked in that way. They only credit for you the dollar amount you paid for that product (including taxes for taxable states) and they won’t include the GSP price you paid for (i.e. $129.99 for 2 years on a HDTV). So if you wanted to use your GSP to replace your speaker that you bought on sale, then guess what? You’ll have to pay up for the difference to buy the same exact speaker if it is no longer on sale. OR it could work in your favor and if it is on a better sale price, you’ll be credited back the difference. I’m glad I was in that 5%, you on the other hand, were in the 95%.š¤£š¤£š¤£
Never by the things for one law states that most electronics have at least 1-2 years warranty bythe manufacturer. While they can replace ur product if they have another one which usualy doesn’t happen. Most of the time no matter if u bought it or not they usually end up making you go through the manufacturer anyway. The only thing I would ever think about getting it for is discs. But yeah most store warranty’s are useless and just for extracah.
Bought a Geek Squad plan costing $120 for a Samsung Galaxy A50 in February. 2 weeks later I had a software issue so I went back. I was told Best Buy/Geek Squad no longer works on Samsung phones but if I pay $80 IN ADVANCE, they will MAIL it to Samsung. They refused to do anything else. Later on, I learned, on my own, there is a Samsung warranty center near me and they fixed it at no charge. I went back to Best Buy to Best Buy to cancel the Geek Squad plan but they refused. They are still selling these service plans and refusing to honor them! SCAM, SCAM, SCAM!
If I buy a pc and upgraded it do I still have the warranty
Hey does geek squad repair devices without warranty
I bought a 4K TV in 2017 for $1100 got the 5 year protection. Over the past few years it was repaired multiple times, this time the part they needed was no longer being manufactured so they approved it for a replacement. I thought great, I wanted either the Sony X900H or Samsung Q80T, and was 100% willing to pay the difference and buy coverage again. Meaning that they could have easily made another $700-$1000 from me. They absolutely REFUSED to do that. I had to call the phone number for the replacement multiple times and argue with them all day long. They wanted to give me a Vizio M series from last year or $650 credit. Eventually I was able to convince the manager on the other side to replace it with last year’s Samsung Q70R, which is still markedly better than what we have, but they also had it listed for $950 so that’s $150 less than what our current TV cost. I won’t be doing business with Best Buy again and will not be purchasing their Geek Squad protection ever again. It was a huge hassle. I used to work for Best Buy and, when I did, people got their full purchase price credit back every time, for even older TV’s than what we have. I spoke with multiple people and two managers throughout the course of the day, it was a nightmare.
Get to the damn point. Seven minutes in and you haven’t described the problem.
1. Manufacturer defects are the only thing covered.
2. They only cover the amount of money you paid.
3. So if you paid $50 for an item and then it goes up to $100 they will only give you a credit of $50. On the other hand if you paid $150 and it drops to $100 you get a $50 credit.
4. If you go back the next day and say it is defective they’ll replace it BUT your warranty ends at that point! This happened to me today. Paid $100 for the warranty and much to my chagrin the warranty ends whenever you use it. Not two years later. Now if I use the manufacturers warranty and deal directly with the manufacturer and get a replacement then my warranty with them continues.
THE CONCLUSION:
Always return whatever you buy a week or two before the end of the warranty period. Get your money back. Maybe buy it again. That way the cost of the items is the cost of the warranty.
My curbside buying experience
Hello Beast Buy,
I recently purchased an āopen boxā TV for curbside pickup. Your crew acted gracious and helpful. They brought it out to the curb and placed it in my trunk. Thank you.
However, no box at all. Just plastic bubble wrap taped around it. I said, āHope itās all there.ā The young man answered, āNo problem.ā I drove home. TV seems undamaged. Power cord OK too. But NOTHING else there. No feet, no remote control, no batteries, no quick start guide as described under the heading, āWhat is in the box.ā
At this time, I cannot go into the store to talk with anyone in person because of covid 19. But your website does not even give a phone number to call except one that gives only references to website info. Please answer me with a simple solution. Please do not burn a happy curbside pickup into a nightmare. Please send me a remote-control unit and feet to make this TV useable.
Also, my order information on your website claims you sent me an email with pick up information. But no email ever arrived. Instead I acted upon the order info at your website and drove to your Stillwater store (45 minutes each way for me) and presented my order number to pick up the TV.
Order number …
(name etc.)
Best Buy seems to have separate types of tech warranty coverages. There is total tech support that you pay for that is a subscription where your cost is reduced on software repair issues related to your computer devices, and it also covers a reduced cost on things like home entertainment installation, and appliances etc. Then there is a protection warranty plan that according to their website they will repair your computer devices for accidental damage and manufacturer defects, etc. Then they have this replacement plan, that apparently, according to the poster here, they don’t actually replace the item but give you a credit for what you paid for the item. Your right, it is hard to find all the information with regard to these individual plans, and you don’t get much in the store at the time you purchase it in the way of information. It seems it still just isn’t worth it to buy expensive plans through Best Buy. In the end, what you end up paying seems pretty worthless.
