I like your clip VDO and have downloaded for watch offline
Nami, I live in a small apartment and already have a bunch of kitchen tools. I don’t want to buy new ones unless I know I will use them often and don’t already have another kitchen tool for the job. I like your five suggestions but am most interested in the chopsticks, Surikogi & Suribachi, and drop lid. Which size Surikogi & Suribachi do you use most often? Is it worth picking up two sizes? My guess would be larger is better. Also, for the drop lid, In the past, I have just used aluminum foil. Do you get a lot of use out of the stainless one? Out of all the cooking you do, which drop lid do you use most often wood, adjustable stainless, or aluminum foil? Thanks for your suggestions.
You’re beautiful, your husband is lucky.
Fantastic Nami!! I think Food Network should give you a chance! I always enjoy your recipes and techniques. Thank you and Mr JOC for providing such a useful and well presented show πππβ€οΈ
Thank you so much for filming this series. It’s very helpful and you explained each one very well. π I look forward to watching your next episode!
Hi Nami, I think this Tea Time series is a wonderful idea! Thank you for all the interesting information. I love your recipe’s and techniques β₯
hi, can i use a normal lid instead of drop lid for simmering food? Or will it change the flavor a little? thx!
Arigato, I have almost all of those tools since I am half Japanese and love cooking Japanese dishes, I just love this channel, you have given me so many great cooking tips and have made my cooking experiences so much more enjoyable. I look forward to each and every new video, thank you again so much!
Nice video
Can you share what are the best bento box especially stainless steel once? and where to buy them in Japan or in the web? Domo Arigato gozaimasu Nami.
Superb love the dish subscribed ππ
thanksss
Can you make a video about cooking chopsticks in terms of choosing a good pair and maintenance? I bought a pair of bamboo ones from Daiso and they are already bent out of shape. π
Thank you Nami! Love your tips and recipes as always!
The crazy thing is that I’ve been to three different Asian markets in my city and none of them carry long cooking chopsticks. I can only buy regular, small chopsticks in big packs of like 10 or 20. I try not to order too much stuff online as I always want to support local shops.
I went to Kappabashi on my last trip to Tokyo. I had seen the skimmer in your millefeuille soup video and the long chopsticks, otoshi buta and miso strainer in other ones. They were top of my list! Thank you for dedicating a feature to these tools and showing us why they are special and how to use them properly.
Do you mind if you tell some really important japanese ingredients??? This will REALLY help me!!
I love this new series, Nami-san! Have you seen these cute otoshibuta that are shaped like a pig? You put your hashi in the nostrils to remove the drop lid. Thanks for the video and have a great weekend!

I’ll try to see if I can buy those kitchen tools here in my city. Keep it up, you’re amazing.
Subarashii
Hi guys which Japanese cooking book would you recommend me?
Thanks
I wanted to make the mapo tofu but couldnβt find the broad bean paste. I did find something similar but since Iβm not familiar with the ingredient, I didnβt know if it was the same thing…
What is Japanese tagine Please make a video using it
I stumbled upon your website while searching for Japanese cookware .. found your YouTube channel and subscribed as fast as I can
Omg that wood u chose to mash those potatoes…I want/need it!!!
Can you recommend me good brand rice cooker
Thanks for this video! I love Japanese products. Always so innovative. My fave at home is a multi-purpose product from Daiso that has a grater I use for ginger and garlic, a slicer, and a large grater section along with a zig-zag slicer at the end … all that for $1.50 and I’m gonna use it FOREVER β€β€β€β€β€ My skimmer just broke so I definitely will purchase one hopefully at a Japanese store so it will last this time haha
Not Japanese cooking related, but what is the name of the lovely nail polish youβre wearing? I really like it! Thank you.
Merci Nami ; )
Thank you! This series looks like it’ll be nice. And you’ve reminded me that I need to replace my missing skimmer.
Love the new series! I will admit, as a tea enthusiast (lupicia is my brand of choice) I was hoping you would tell us about your tea, any snacks you might have with it, too. π
I like segment on kitchen tools though, and was happy to note I have a few of them already. Also, I am glad to see that the burn doesn’t seem to hsve been too severe.
Huge fan here! I really like this series. I am a bento enthusiast and when I moved last summer, I made sure to keep most of my bento gear close at hand. Sadly, I did not do the same thing with the rest of my essential cooking items (still in storage) and have improvised for months. I missed having certain items a LOT, like saibashi (I just found my otoshibuta)! The nearest Daiso is over two hours away and I recently decided to make the long-overdue trip and the ONE DAY I pick to go they’re closing early for inventory! I had 17 minutes to fly through the store and get a few things; first item I threw in my cart were long chopsticks, hehe! Just used them again this morning to scramble eggs.
I love learning about different cultures, especially through their cuisine. I look forward to the next video – keep up the great work! You have my respect and admiration β€οΈ
Thank u Nami-san. Just what I need to upgrade my kitchen skill. Love the adjustable simmer. I would add that in my kitchen from now on.

Loooooooveeeeeee it! Going to buy a skimmer right now!
Japanese cooking is so overwhelming to someone who is western like myself, but I love learning something new about it everyday and your recipes have helped me tackle it step-by-step. Thanks for the awesome recipes and videos π
Could you cook full meals with rice miso soup and pickles and a main dish please !
Super I need to find some of these thing in San Francisco very soon. Great video
Where did you get the stainless otoshibuta? I’ve got a fixed-size stainless one, but that expandable one would be so much more useful!
Beautiful video. Love you, Nami!
WOW!
I’ve been living in Japan for two years now, and because supermarkets in the countryside don’t stock much besides Japanese ingredients, your blog and videos have saved my life!
omg ! i love this ep!
Awesome video and idea, Nami! Looking forward to watching this series grow π
I love this new series! Thank you for sharing Nami. My favorite Japanese item in my kitchen is my pink silicone otoshibuta that has a pigs face on top. The snout of the pig has two holes, where your ohashi can fit into it. I love going to Daiso and looking at all of the kitchen gadgets. βΊοΈ
