I have used each of the desktop environments covered here. Being a long time Windows user, I really like Cinnamon and use it as my daily driver on Linux Mint. I also have a system with KDE Plasma running on Arch. I like it too, just not as well as Cinnamon. Deepin Desktop Environment (DDE) is really beautiful, just a little limited on customization options. I use it on Ubuntu.

KDE Plasma in 2021 is lighter than XFCE, and it’s more complete, in terms of being a desktop environment, and therefore, XFCE is no longer a suggestible DE for being lightweight as of now, unless that’s your own preference.

Gnome is good, but I feel it’s more suitable for tablets/touch screen laptops.

Cinnamon is indeed best DE for those coming straight from Windows.

I’ve used GNOME, KDE Plasma, Cinnamon, Pantheon, and xfce. Coming from Windows, Cinnamon is the most comfortable one for me while GNOME is the least. I used GNOME for a couple of months and can’t get comfortable with it.
