Why The iPhone SE Is So Cheap

Why The iPhone SE Is So Cheap

Apple sells several different iPhones, but the SE model is by far the cheapest at just 400 dollars. Despite having more processing power than most 1,000 dollar Androids. So why and how was Apple able to make such an affordable phone? Well that’s what I’ll explain right now.

  6. RHO aias on January 24, 2022 at 5:10 pm

Poco f3 has better CPU power,250dollar,more storage, better display, more camera.
Sure camera has it problem but can be fix with gcam
    And more battery life.

    The only disadvantage compare to
    iPhone se

    Weaker gpu power then a13
    A13 more efficient
The UI is a joke compare to iOS
iOS has better overall optimization then Android

Overall it actually a stupid reason to buy iPhone se unless you upgrading from iPhone 6 or you just want to show that your "rich" to everyone

It’s not so cheap at $400 with such old configs. The average price for Android devices with similar specs and age is around $300

  8. Richard Lízner on January 24, 2022 at 5:11 pm

It’s not cheap, it has great competition from this pricerange its by far the least competitive offer.

Reason: Because SE means Simple edition

Camera is not from iPhone 7 🙄 it’s from iPhone 8. iPhone 7 can’t shoot 4K 60 fps videos, while 8 and SE can

    SE 2020 using camera from 7 ?

  26. Sam on January 24, 2022 at 5:36 pm

$400 is not cheap by any standard. Plus, in my country, the 128GB model is $124 (27.6%) more expensive than what Apple sells it for in the US. This makes the phone a pretty expensive, premium phone at this price tag here.

  27. The13Albums on January 24, 2022 at 5:39 pm

    short answer:
it’s basically just a hybrid of iphones with the internals of an iphone 10 and the outers of an 8

  28. ToxicHorsePucky on January 24, 2022 at 5:39 pm

$399 for a 6 year old frame and shit tier battery and low res screen isn’t cheap. That should be $249-$299 tops.

    Short answer: it’s bad

  37. rek on January 24, 2022 at 5:45 pm

Another huge factor is corporate sales. This is my company’s go to corporate issued phone. Much cheaper when buying hundreds of things at a time plus Touch ID in a business application is 1000x better than using Face ID.

  38. Jack Lawless on January 24, 2022 at 5:49 pm

it’s expensive still, NZ$749 for new

  39. Rick Astley79 on January 24, 2022 at 5:49 pm

  40. Alyx Mitchell on January 24, 2022 at 5:50 pm

well the iphone SE is quite literally identical to the iphone 8, except minus 3D touch and then a newer chip

  41. xJrei on January 24, 2022 at 5:50 pm

    It’s overpriced

Im telling you,iPads nowadays start more cheaper than iPhone at 329$

  45. Tech Yeah on January 24, 2022 at 5:58 pm

its not very cheap at all

  46. Hello Everyone on January 24, 2022 at 5:58 pm

What I like about the SE, is apple has not distorted the fundamentals of the iPhone that made the iPhone its reputation instead of incorporating multiple cameras when one, is all you need by improving the pressor to the A13 that takes the place of all of these unnecessary things and maintaining its physical size, and the home button with the fingerprint reader… I love this phone for all of these reasons!

Yea they kept me in the apple ecosystem with this phone. I wouldve either bought an android or just kept my old phone.

  50. Florin Moldovanu on January 24, 2022 at 6:03 pm

Apple didn’t make the 2020 SE cheap, it’s just that they targeted that product for a lower income market so they could afford to not make their usual high profit they make on regular models.
If they really wanted to make a cheap iPhone SE then they would have used the chassis of the iPhone SE 2016 because much more people were waiting for a remake of the SE 2016 rather than a refreshed iPhone 8 with a smaller battery which is pretty much useless after a year when the battery degrades. iPhone SE 2020 will soon go for next to nothing on the second hand market whereas iPhone SE 2016 in good condition and decent amount of storage go for the same price as the iPhone SE 2020 although the phone is 5 years older.
What you fail to see is that Apple doesn’t want to re-make the iPhone SE 2016 for a very simple reason. A small screen phone means less content consumption. iPhone SE 2016 was a tool not a media consumption device. If they would have made a refresh of the iPhone SE 2016 with fingerprint in the power button and without the FaceID and bigger battery it would have sold like hot cakes. iPhone Mini is nice but again that notch is just ridiculous and £700 . .
Yes, probably they save some cost with the production due to using the older internals however the interior of the specific phone is not the same as the older models so it’s not like the SE 2020 is identical to iPhone 8.
What the SE 2020 was good for was waterproofness. If you would have wanted a waterproof phone you should have forked a lot of money and the SE 2020 made a lot of sense but you had to use a case with additional battery as the battery was crap.
