You just keep on keeping Mr Paul
please never offer anyone a Logitech product, ESPECIALLY MICE. They suck super bad. They last about 6-12 months WITH issues throughout until caving in completely. Had numerous logitech mice and ive read way too many reviews of same issue.
We got my daughter the ASUS Prime B550 Plus motherboard for her PC build in 2020. It’s got a Ryzen 7 3800 in it. She had asked for the 3600 chip, but I decided with her going to college for an engineering degree in 2021 that she would need the extra power for school work. Is a decent motherboard. Even survived her finding she didn’t plug one of the memory modules in all the way and shoving it in… while the PC was on.
Sadly, parts were purchased for her birthday in the fall, and I decided to wait on the video card till winder, after nVidia’s launch. Boy that’s a mistake. She’s still on a GTX 960 Ti from her old PC. And I’m looking at an APU for my next system build, as my PC’s is pushing a decade of use. (Still has the Intel i7 3770K chip and a nVidia GTX 980 Ti.)
Awesome information. Thanks!
I am buying i5 12400 so should I invest in z690 or b660 if i might upgrade to used 13th gen in few year
stay way from GTX 1650. get a GTX 970
Oooo
I finally got a 3060 at MSRP from EVGA after being on the wait list for 7 months. I would have been happy with a 1660 or the 6500xt. I had been using a 5700g.
Consider changing your pointer sprite to something larger .
Great video Paul, one thing I cannot understand is how GTX 1650’s are going for $350!!! As they only have 4GB of RAM and cannot be good for mining so why are they so overpriced. Why is there not any stock on these parts?
hii friends specialiiy girlfriends
That was pretty helpful. THanks.
I don’t even want to think about gpu’s, they’re so overpriced it’s a huge turn off to even want to build a PC right now
I just don’t trust pre built pc’s… Too many problems compared to building it yourself, ime. Pre builts often don’t make logical sense and include proprietary parts that don’t allow you to upgrade.
Thanks for you take, Paul! Always to the point.
But at least you CAN game with a 5600G
what about 12700f (non-k)? I saw it on newegg for 330
These will be the only news I care and love hahahaja
Paul’s the best!
Some great recommendations, but some terrible wording; Recommended & required wattage (in relation to power supplies for GPU’s) are NOT inter-changable terms. Calling one SSD entry level even though it’s specs. are over 15% HIGHER than the one you called mid-range in the next breath.
sry but calling hynix CJR/DJR that are used on Gskill ripjaws at that CL16-19-19 latency, for the best you can get mem whise, is like saying that your old Ford Focus is the best car you can ever buy. also CL16-19-19 is not that impressive esp if it dosnt scale with manual oc/voltage increases. I would have recommended people to look for CL16-16-16 3600mhz or Cl14-14-14 3200mhz, those are all garanteed B dies, and should run corners around CJR/DJR hynix module carrying 16-19-19 specced stuff.
My advice, buy a console even if it marked up because you are getting more for your money at this point.
GTX 1060 6GB second hand still a good bet I think. Eying some online overhere for a build.
What "low end" graphics card uses 450 watts?
"Those should still slot in 1700 series motherboards" Isn’t that nice. That they "still" "should" use motherboards that aren’t even available yet in numbers. lol. If you really want something that can be upgraded in the future, wait for AM5. Buying into 1700 now to upgrade once, by one generation, makes no sense. Especially since to actually "future proof" that Platform for years to come you would need to buy Bleeding Edge DDR5 Ram now, which is just a no starter financially.
I still trust more and like more the performance of AMD, then I will stick with a Ryzen with Vega & integrated graphics because intel integrated graphics are awfully bad and is the first time in a decade Intel is trying to make a come back and contest AMd but to be honest I don’t buy it until they get good for several years, Intel feel in disgrace year after year for over a decade by now, then post a huge list of future CPUs for the year doesn’t mean will be good, one thing I learned about Intel is when I test the CPUs they never perform even close how in theory should, then I never get impress for the huge amount of theoretical performance and all the numbers they trow in to my face when I test it myself I always end disappointed, while AMD doesn’t try to deceive me and normally the theoretical performance is closer to the real performance, then the last intel CPU I used into my work computer was a decade ago and AMD keep all my equipment working in the way should do and ev everytime I make the mistake to buy an Intel CPU end disappointed and just wasting my money, I work in 2D and 3D animation then my work is very hardware demanding and to be honest INten can’t keep on the pace
Do a "Wait out the storm build" — Can you do a cheap-ish build (im thinking this can only work with AMD right now?) but perhaps look at going back a generation or so on some components to wait out the current storm for upgrades?
My thought is, if i bought a good med-high end mobo but it was backwards compatible with a 1-2gen old cpu (to stay cheap) then when the next gen rolls out and is definitely not compatible as its a new socket, hopefully all those 5800x up to 5950x cpus come way down in price. Trying to think what other components this could be done for that are actually cheap enough to warrant the ~1yr wait for stepping up; possibly RAM to some extent, maybe some storage (buy bare minimum then use as extra storage later or boot drive only?), and of course a GPU situation (maybe if the new low end GPUs that just announced actually hit and arent attractive to miners?)..
This that id "future proof" would be power supply, mobo, case, cooler, fans, etc. the things that probably wont fluctuate much (other than mobo but kinda defeats the purpose?).
What CPU would you recommend for mainly gaming Pual? thanks for the awesome content
Graphic card pricing will not come down cause of nvidia are inflating the prices no matter what nothing but greed.
$543 isn’t even enough for a mid range gpu
the i3 12100F is almost as good as 5600X in gaming
AHhh paul has still humor^^. title is exellent! gold! ^^
Still waiting for intel to announce their next gen core X was hoping ces but maybe computex
ah yes, here we go again….
Lisa Su and AMD need to just stop and think for a little bit and actually lower their (now old) Zen 3 parts to be more price competitive with Intel. I just built a 12600K system with DDR4 and even with the markup in the Alder Lake prices it still came out to be a better deal than if I were to build another Zen 3 system now (already have a Ryzen 5 5600X system) and the 12400 makes Intel more of a value. Micro Center still has that deal where you get $20 USD off when you pair a CPU with a qualifying motherboard and the Intel system gets better. If you’re already on AM4 just hold off until AMD gets their head out of their rear ends.
I have held off of building my first pc due to the ridiculous price of parts at the moment. 🤔
i5-12600k vs r7-5800x which one should be better to get? the i5-12600k is cheaper near my area and i dont know its worth to cheapen out on these part of the computer since it also affects which motherboard to buy
That logitech mouse has been on sale for that price for almost 2 years. Bought one in may 2020 for my work from home setup. I think they have a ton of old stock cause no one wanted to pay double the cost for the SE just for white stripes. Fantastic mouse other than being a little heavy compared to alot of modern gaming mice
12400f $180 bang for buck

I disagree with the used market. It just caters to miners and scalpers. I will only buy from retail like Best Buy.
I have a used HP 1200w server PSU in a 1U for factor :V.
I got it for 51€
Oooo…. that fractal case is nice… has TWO 5.25" external bays. INSTALL THE CD-ROMS! INSTALL ALL THE ROMS! (Hehehe… I still have a lot of old games on CDs.)
A Mobo with RGB is a joke, who were the designers targeting? Quick folks Intel needs your help offloading their mediocre hardware and their investors are nervous.
Just get a gaming laptop, PC market is sadly dead. For 900 bucks in the US you can get a 100W 3060 laptop which will blow the desktop 1650 multiple times over, plus its a laptop you can take it places. Its time we stop pretending.
Do not buy the 1650 non super for 350$
Thanks Paul, great as always.
so since gpu is overpriced i decided to ride the crypto wave. let’s see what btc, eth, and ada can bring for the next 6 months. perhaps i can get 3090 ti
If your planning on getting the next gen gpus like the 4080 your going to need a power supply 1,200 plus watts
There’s going to be different connectors also is what heard around
I’ve given up for now. Maybe 2023. High MB prices, RAM prices, GPUs, PSUs. Supply will normalize someday.
