I’m running POP OS- with cosmic now– and you said it ‘s STABLE— well it’s locked up SEVERAL times on me in the last few days and I’ve ended up having to shut down and restart the machine to get it to work again… something I DID maybe??? IDEAS???

  2. Lukado on January 6, 2022 at 3:30 pm

I completely disagree with the "Best with NVIDIA" section. I mean, yes, it has more features, but when I used Pop!_OS 21.04 and clicked switch to NVIDIA graphics, it…switched. but when I tried to run ANY game, it throws OpenGL errors at me. I tried Ubuntu, and 1. it had NO ERRORS. 2. The FPS is not imaginable. 3. It is a better desktop experience.

Pop!_OS fanboys can disagree, but this is true.

Mint on Cinnamon works for me. No time for KDE excess of uselessness nor Gnome community bullshit. I’ll taste Endevour very soon. I’m impressed by the fact that some benchmarks shows a better running performance some software that I’m using than Arch itself. And the installing process is not unnecessary shitty as it is in Arch.

    Thank you for the video.
For me it has been openSUSE Leap KDE since 2016. Solid distro with great forum community.

All Ubuntu-based distros have the same problems:
    – Problem with PulseAudio volume control.
    – Don’t suspend with Nvidia gpu-s. Press suspend – leads to login window.

    Fedora’s dnf is impossibly slow.

    But I didn’t try Endeavour!

  6. Blink Owl on January 6, 2022 at 3:34 pm

I got a new laptop with RTX 3060. I could not get the external display working with any distro other than pop os. They did a great job.

  7. Hesder on January 6, 2022 at 3:35 pm

Most Terrible and greatest thing using Linux …. A lot of distro’s and desktops to choose from.

  8. GrootBaas on January 6, 2022 at 3:36 pm

Using Zorin OS lite on a very old machine definitely brought it back to life great intro into linux.

  9. Tango Samba on January 6, 2022 at 3:37 pm

I use Deepin because of the layout and software manager

  10. Alan on January 6, 2022 at 3:38 pm

It’s NixOS for me and it’s not even close tbh

  11. Rusty Smith on January 6, 2022 at 3:38 pm

I have been using Linux XP on my desktop for over a year; like old shoes I am reluctant to break in a new pair. I have 2 Chromebooks with what I think may be beta Gnome, so I am particularly interested in something similar to my Chromebook Linux for my desk but I never get Gnome installed correctly.

  12. younes chekkour on January 6, 2022 at 3:40 pm

Not only throughout the last year, but for more than five years of using it, Fedora has never let me down. Best distro ever ! (IMO)

  13. Patrick Binder on January 6, 2022 at 3:41 pm

My favorite distros are rhel and sles/sled

  14. TechHut on January 6, 2022 at 3:42 pm

Can anyone tell me what distributions made it in this list from last year? Again thanks for watching! https://youtu.be/Ly77cb_Ymbw
_I will note this is my PERSONAL top list based on what I’ve used and personal experience._

  15. David Wayne on January 6, 2022 at 3:44 pm

I had 21.04 POP os– and it got so it would NOT update— very quickly– said the Boot sector was FULL–and couldn’t get the old kernel out– and it would not allow the new one IN.. so updates STOPPED… and it wouldn’t let me do anything– or I’d still have had that– I like it.. DID THEY FIX THAT? I saw on their support page- many people had requested they DO SO.. COULD NOT get any help on it either… they basically pointed me toward some "faq" that did IN NO WAY answer the question of what to do about that unable to UPDATE problem…. if it’s FIXED- I’d love it,, let me know..

  16. Oh Nawwww on January 6, 2022 at 3:47 pm

What yall think of Chrome OS? 😆. Just got into Linux a couple weeks ago.

  17. Konstantinos B. on January 6, 2022 at 3:47 pm

I am using Suse for years. In my opinion is he greatest of all.

  18. Monirul Islam on January 6, 2022 at 3:53 pm

Fedora sucks due to gnome..on my laptop

  19. Kitt 3 on January 6, 2022 at 3:53 pm

For it’s hard( almost impossible) to choose between Pop OS and Zorin OS.

But unfortunately I’m forced to use windows because of Archicad, Lumion and Photoshop.

  20. Raj Mandal on January 6, 2022 at 3:54 pm

i have found an issue in all arch based distros the sound is too low as comapred to ubuntu based distros why is that?(for example the 100% sound in manjaro, endeavour, arch ,etc is lesser than ubuntu, mint, pop, etc)

  21. Shaun Nan on January 6, 2022 at 3:55 pm

Linux Lite is good. Light weight xfce and customisable to Windows7 or Windows10

  22. Mike Huston on January 6, 2022 at 3:55 pm

Quite enjoying Manjaro 21.2 works quite well, for a newb that is

  23. Alessandro on January 6, 2022 at 3:56 pm

More distros than users by the way
Every time I see a new distro I feel the urge to switch back to MacOS

  24. Стефан Миленовић on January 6, 2022 at 4:01 pm

That is good, but I probably never will drop KDE Plasma DE, If and If I gonna do that someday it will be Deepin DE or UKUI, and last will be Zorin DDE. 🙂
Im currently on Debian Sid-Testing with KDE Plasma DDE minimal, because u can get rolling release and be on the edge with software with Flatpak and Snap enabled ofc. And second my favorite is Garuda Linux which has everything to make ur daily usage of Linux at ease as much as possible. If Debian have all that gui tools to setup ur distro how u want and to easy install all software, kernels, NVIDIA Drivers, etc to get start itll be my No.1, but…

  25. Hargunbeer Singh on January 6, 2022 at 4:01 pm

I have been using linux mint for about 12-13 years and I love it.

  26. tomcrew10 on January 6, 2022 at 4:02 pm

Used to use Linux mint a lot but finally decided to run it as my main os recently and have had very few issues

  27. P Amrith on January 6, 2022 at 4:03 pm

For advanced users Arch vanilla will be best but not for nvidia because need to customize a lot but when come to server centos or ubuntu server is best but centos is not free now

  28. Robert McKeown on January 6, 2022 at 4:05 pm

I’ve been running Linux Mint Mate since release 13.0. Although I have a beefy machine, I still enjoy Mate and wobbly windows. Recently, I’ve been using MX Linux on my laptop.

  29. David Wayne on January 6, 2022 at 4:09 pm

OH YES– my Zorin OS made the list– THANK YOU– I"ve been watching you and all the others review Garuda Linux- and liked what I was seeing til I found out it was from INDIA– and that ended that… and Zorin is from Ireland.. LOVE IT.. guess I’ll stick with it– BuT do you knkow if other desktops will run on it?? to change the look a bit – not now- but later… I like to have differences every so often.

  30. Kuba Skwarczek on January 6, 2022 at 4:10 pm

My only problem with Fedora 35 is that my pendrive act weird since i used Fedora Media Writer xd

  31. Lay Khatri on January 6, 2022 at 4:10 pm

Hello, i have used Ubuntu from long time, and soon in few days i will format my laptop (it have nvidia GPU). I will be working fully professional on it, you can say no Gaming on it. So which linux distro will you recommend me?

  32. Šiukšlių Karalius on January 6, 2022 at 4:11 pm

If Linux desktop was a thing you would just be using something ant that would be it. But it’s not and you don’t.

  33. Marko Sejic on January 6, 2022 at 4:12 pm

I Use Linux Mint 20.2 Mate Rock Solid

  34. Best Of Web on January 6, 2022 at 4:12 pm

For me I love Ubuntu and KDE so obviously Kubuntu is my favorite OS

  35. Edgar Lnx on January 6, 2022 at 4:12 pm

Thank you for this video and recommendations… I’m not a pro when it comes to Linux distributions but this year I installed Manjaro KDE and it’s pretty good, I’ve been using to learn more about the Linux world!

  36. Jalister on January 6, 2022 at 4:17 pm

    I use…
Linux Mint with Cinnamon on my newer computers and laptops.
Linux Mint with MATE on older hardware or for machines that I will mostly remote onto.
    Debian for my servers.

Those distros have consistently worked well for me.

I will be switching my lab hypervisor from Citrix XenServer to XCP-ng.

  37. serge star on January 6, 2022 at 4:18 pm

I like how calm u demeanour is . Just a calming voice to listen to on YouTube makes listening to Linux stuff more bearable 😆

  38. Bane M on January 6, 2022 at 4:18 pm

Is Debian 11 good for beginners? Answer please..

  39. P. on January 6, 2022 at 4:19 pm

Note on PopOS and their good support for Nvidia and dual graphics on laptops: not if you’re on an old machine. My old laptop has a GT930 and pop had no idea what to do with it. I used the proper version ISO and maybe there was a way, but not out of the box – something Ubuntu and Mint never had any issues throughout the years and many versions this old machine has been through.

  40. IDG32 on January 6, 2022 at 4:22 pm

I’ve recently obtained a new pc. the last year I spent forever on manjaor on my laptop, and windows 10 on my desktop. but plan now to dual boot

  41. Gord's Electronics Hobby on January 6, 2022 at 4:22 pm

    Best for who? You maybe?

  42. Opening Credits on January 6, 2022 at 4:24 pm

So far, Zorin Lite (XFCE Desktop Environment) is my favourite. It works really nice on my 10-year-old computer. I’ve broken it a couple of times somehow, but I reinstall it every time because of how smooth it is in comparison to Ubuntu 21.10 (I was using that before, it was just way too slow). With Zorin Lite I can watch 4k videos, play games etc and the computer doesn’t sound like it’s dying.

  43. teddiesasmita on January 6, 2022 at 4:25 pm

MX Linux for its lightweight n stability.

  44. M167A1 on January 6, 2022 at 4:25 pm

POP OS got me off Windows for good.. can’t recommend it enough.

  45. Edgard Nergjoni on January 6, 2022 at 4:26 pm

    im in love whit manjaro

  46. timestimesx on January 6, 2022 at 4:27 pm

Linux Mint is the only distro that I had no problem with.
Steam worked perfectly (I wasn’t able to get Proton to work in Ubuntu)
I was able to install the nvidia 495 drivers easily without any problems. (on Elementary OS, I got black screen with the latest drivers. When I tried to install ubuntu-drivers package I lost my ethernet connection.)
VPN instantly worked. (I had a hard time getting it to work in Fedora.)
Twitch and videos on any other web site worked instantly. (Some distros lack codecs)
Windows games run better. No idea why but every single game runs super smooth on Cinnamon Mint. (With KDE, I had problems in some games.)
No crashes at all so far. (I experienced crashes in all of the gnome distros)

I never had a better experience with Linux. 100% recommend it.

  47. Sebastiaan Roest on January 6, 2022 at 4:28 pm

I’m a kinda new Linux user but I’m running Ubuntu with the KDE DE manually installed. There are a few tiny bugs (like the meta/super/windows key not doing anything but still being able to type ..)

  48. Optimistic Mofo on January 6, 2022 at 4:28 pm

Fedora and Pop are definitely my favorite gems in the linux space.

  49. DaveTheGM on January 6, 2022 at 4:28 pm

Manjaro and Fedora are the two distros I’ve used the most, Ubuntu 8 on the free disks they used to mail out was my first taste of Linux though.

  50. Jakub Vala on January 6, 2022 at 4:28 pm

my fav one is pop_os definitely, to be honest I tried only ubuntu and pop_os. But it is user friendly, it kinda looks like a mac environment and it’s super fast. For me that’s all I need
