Is anything like app or sat nav device can ( show me which line in roundabout I use ) ?!!!!
Any voice commands ? I didn’t hear any, and with Waze are maps built in or you need to be using data ? and how quick are they to recalculate route if you choose to go a different way to directed. ?
Well it works pretty rubbish in Rome that I can tell you! Waze that it.
How much data does waze use?
Everything is OK, if you have a fast internet in the car on your phone. I tried the Google Maps and the Waze in UK, but I downloaded the Sygic and I felt that is the best. OK, I know, I had to pay for that, but it was just about 12 GBP for a lifetime. It uses satellites for navigation, doesn’t need any other internet and if you download the maps, you can use it anywhere in the world. I drove trough Europe, it was close to perfect. I really like the lane assist, it shows the cameras and delays as well.
Cant get what he
I use Here we go fantastic its offline mode is more robust you can download maps of states countries where google only sections Here we go has lane assist i love the layout the speed limit and actual speed info are placed at the bottom of the screen not obstructing nav view like google maps basically Here we go is a good google maps alternative i am trying to stay clear of google services.
Google and Waze are online only and are good if you have a signal and the data allowance to use it.
Sygic used to be the best and most intuitive offline mapping available, so I bought it. Hooray!
Then they "improved" it…………… Boo!
It is now much more difficult to use, utterly unintuitive and generates some very weird route selections. Meh!
Osmand to the rescue………………………………
Here Maps is just horrible. Mazda uses it for their in-car GPS system. The first destination upon buying my (new, unused) car already got my hotel wrong, even though it has been at its current location for years. Tried to send a correction report, but their website is an even bigger disaster. I don’t want anything to do with Here ever since.
For me, Waze and Google Maps share the first position, but they are far from perfect:
I like Waze, but it’s a disaster to contribute to their Map Editor and some road reports about road closures will just disappear before you know it (even though setting it to "several days").
Google Maps was great in the days that MapMaker was live. Now, it’s hard to update, since it requires intervention from Google staff and they don’t always up-t-date information. I love the GPS for simplicity and lane assist. If only we could implement the Waze road reports into G Maps. (Which shouldn’t be too hard, since Google owns Waze.) Even though Google Maps integrates some road incidents from Waze, it often takes time to be updated.
The best sat nav app is google maps
I don’t like Waze because it requires a WiFi signal to calculate a route
How can the review call the navigations free if they use up your mobile data? In a couple of months time, you´ll end up paying more than let´s say for a Sygic license! I´ve tried them all and ended up with Sygic 6 years ago. Didn´t regret it for a single moment and that having said, I´ve used it acroos whole of Europe.
thanks
Only thing I don’t like about google maps and waze is that they don’t show the speed limit on the road
Ur da best
Here is very good navigation, simple and get’s the job done and wont overheat your phone, and has offline map. Waze is more complex and a litttle bit too much for me, also the phone gets hot when running it.
Just tried Waze. As an experiment I looked at the route for my work and it was wrong.
thanks
waze have hud support ?
i use here we go and thts great in the uk
App name
Is there a offline android gps app that let’s me draw new roads, add markers and so on?
Wade does not allow offline maps so it will eat into your data if you use it allot… 5he other two do…
Waze still uses data
The reason why Google Maps are so popular is not just simplicity but also accuracy and reliability. That’s why I don’t use Apple car play in my car since it makes me use Apple Maps. Those are just horrible. I once tried to search for a car wash and it took me to just some random house in a build up area (also it chose the most traffic heavy route). And this happens a lot with Apple Maps. Like wtf
Can you test Sygic sat nav??
Navmii is petty good, just make sure location services is on otherwise not efficient, wont eat data as long as its up to date beforehand
love how you switch camera view everytime you shift. Oh my god, you drive shift. WOwwwwwww (Owen Wilson Voice).
You shouldn’t be touching the phone while driving, that can get you 6 points!
A few criticisms i would give googlemaps, possibly includes many other satnav apps, is they dont shy away from giving you right turns onto busy roads with no traffic lights to give you any kind of priority, leaving you at the mercy of the traffic on the road your joining.
one other thing was one of the other apps tilted down so i could see my route farther ahead of myself, plus it skews perspective so i could still make out the road layout in my nearer vicinity. Googles feels a bit too flat by comparison and often miss turns because i couldnt see it coming up on the screen until it was too late to get in lane or anything.
lastly dunno why google maps tends to avoid navigating you down 1 way roads, like these roads dont even exist sometimes and it instead navigates you a very long route to what is essentially you trying to reach a road running parallel to you.
Lastly editing your journey is a pain, there should be a clear option besides ‘end navigation’, because 50/50 odds are it will completely wipe the journey and you have to rewrite your journey from scratch, instead of simply editing it from what you already had.
they definately could do with some fine tuning here and there.
I use Waze in the U.S. all the time, I’m glad to know I can use it in England as well.
You’re very inexperienced with Nav apps. No internet connection- no Google or Waze. Downloaded mapping apps like Sygic which collects from Google, Waze and Garmin provides double the functionality without sucking down data for hours.
waze has a problem now it shows no no gps aproximate location
TomTom is better becasue the others don’t correct that well on ios but Tomtom can.
Definitely agree!! Waze is by FAR the best free sat-nav app. Use it all the time, everyday. Superb up to the minute traffic info.
I exclusively use Here wego. As a non finnish speaker living in helsinki having street names spoken to me by a voice that can’t pronounce them is the largest distraction thinkable. I tried most if not all free and quite a few paid and Here wego is the only one with clear turn by turn instructions without street names. The only thing it misses is a proper lane assist. If driving in a new area it can be hard to know at a good time what lane to choose and stay in.
I like vaze
I tried waze for a week, then deleted it from my phone.
these are phone apps not car apps
Google bought Waze a few years ago… Therefore all Google maps traffic is found from Waze users – along with any accident reports
Waze sucks tons of advertising
I’ve never really thought about using anything apart from the usual Google Maps on my mobile… will definitely be trying these others out and seeing if they could replace it.
Main problem with this article – most will be offline especially for long journeys which instantly rules out google maps due to their offline map update time limits.
Waze nowadays are so terrible. Slow and lost.
can waze use on off screen?
Sat Nav
Not great in Europe
for me Waze it’s not so good, because u can not put the exact spot on the map where you want to go, and other minor things.
I currently use waze and I love it but can anyone tell me is there a sat nav app that has lane assist.
Does Waze use up Data? Or is it getting information from Satellites like my Garmin GPS would do? Thanks….
