Also with software companies like Microsoft. The upgrade from Win 10 to Win 11 is really a downgrade.

On the Asus g14 one memory is soldered to the system, and only there is another slot for a RAM until 24GB. In this case , Could I buy the 1Rx8? or I have to buy the same 1Rx16 for maintaining the dual channel? I appreciate your help

My Asrock phantom gaming x motherboard would not allow XMP settings on the 3600 GSkill ram I ordered with it, but it does allow it with the Geil super luce designed for Ryzen, boosting my cinebench score, in fact, the GSkill kept changing the setting from 3600 to 3200 and sometimes even lower in BIOS.

Sooo what was the base rate of the ram? are they both supposedly the same speed and latency? 2400mhz vs 3000mhz would do it. I had a file server running ubuntu 9.10 that screamed. THe latest version of ubuntu 21.0 only allocates 0.1% to the same process. If ubuntu would wake up and actually assign more cpu to a process it would run so much faster. 21 on a i7-3ghz is slower than 9.1 on a amd 225 at 1.8ghz tho the cpu is 5 times faster. if you want something done quick you dont assign 0.2% to the process.

  13. dmpase on October 31, 2021 at 10:23 am

Have you tried the STREAM memory bandwidth benchmark? That would measure the differences directly.

  14. skilz8098 on October 31, 2021 at 10:25 am

Your system is only as strong or as powerful as its weakest component. Ram is just as important as your processor as it is just as important as your motherboard, as it is just as important as your power supply, etc… and not all ram chips are the same!

Wait… Me and my friend have the same laptop but his can run Planet Coaster an awfull lot smoother… I’ve been searching a solution for weeks now, could this be my issue? (I have a Dell Precision 3550, with 2 GPU’s (intel something and an NVidia Quadro P520, don’t know what CPU, no clue if these details can help 😅)

  17. Bionic0ne on October 31, 2021 at 10:30 am

Wouldn’t be the first time Intel has been caught red handed trying to disadvantage their competitors through code or hardware. Doesn’t sound that crazy when you add in the W11 situation repeating history of Intel writing all the code and screwing AMD. Intel made bold claims for their future performance over AMD and it seems like dirty tricks are back on the table.

  18. Nagy Levi on October 31, 2021 at 10:30 am

I never liked the idea of a gaming laptop. Now I like it even less. Great video, thanks for the eye-opener.

  20. Maples01 on October 31, 2021 at 10:31 am

I find laptops skimp an internals all the time, higher GPU, they throw in a lower CPU to offset the cost, you have to go in and specifically order it setup a certain way or you’ll need to open it up and do so yourself.

Yes, this is what we found out 2 years ago with our server.

  26. Aidan McLeod on October 31, 2021 at 10:38 am

Don’t forget about the CAS latency too! It’s never listed either (even when buying ram sticks individually sometimes) and does affect performance too

  27. Juan Millaruelo on October 31, 2021 at 10:39 am

There has always been slow ram. Performance conscious users could buy low latency, fast ram (at a higher price).
Chip shortages are making system sellers short change you. This is like the crap HD that you could find a few years ago on so many machines. (now we have crap high capacity but slow and shorter lifespan SSDs)
We know manufacturers usually give reviewers the best and fastest components available. As to the machines actually sold on the market…YMMV. 🙁
One more reason to buy your own components, build your own machine and read enthusiast websites to know what is out there (we have been doing that for like three decades or more)…. or go Apple Silicon.

  30. Maurie King on October 31, 2021 at 10:43 am

They have been doing this for over 30 years , AND why I will ALWAYS build my PC’s for the best compatible hardware and absolutely NEVER buy a pre-built Machine EVER.

  31. Silver Aetherlight on October 31, 2021 at 10:43 am

It still sounds like the $1600 Asus with $45 – $90 worth of RAM upgrades to be neck and neck with a $2400 RTX3080 is a no-brainer. Am I missing something? I spent $3400+ on an Alienware M17 R4 (that ended up bricking itself, thanks, Dell), and it sounds like I could have saved a ton of money and headache for the same performance with the AMD.

  32. Joshua Scholar on October 31, 2021 at 10:43 am

I have new sticks of laptop ram that I ordered coming tomorrow. I have no idea which it is or whether I’ll be able to figure it out.
2 sticks of 16 gb each KLEVV Hynix 3200MHz, KD4AGS88C-32N220D

  33. David on October 31, 2021 at 10:46 am

Pick your laptops from manufacturers that allow you to put the good stuff in them. Schenker comes to mind. RAM, a good wifi adapter or a slightly faster SSD drive actually make a lot of difference, you will end up with easily a 30% faster computer. Without even considering gaming and graphic boards.

lol so share more data by finding out who has your data mine the company in your link can access email settings labels and messages what no thanks then it says we don’t need a email to make a account but sign in here with your Google account etc hahaha so why give that company authority to view your email messages I’d expect better out you guys on this channel people trust you

  38. Chinmonmon on October 31, 2021 at 10:49 am

Same story with my alienware x17….upgrading ram with low density memory got a significant upgrade as well.

    >mine looks at your email

haha good luck with that. i don’t use unencrypted email except for throw-away accounts. neither google, yahoo, nor microsoft have anything of mine to sell.

i /can’t/ them go through my "public" email accounts because there is no "there" there.

  42. Lonk on October 31, 2021 at 10:53 am

Yeah it has affected me too. Last year I had purchased Crucial Ballistix RGB 16GB ram and it was dual channel (2Rx8GB). A month ago I decided to upgrade to 32GB so I picked up the exact same kit, same part number and everything, but the new kit is single rank (1Rx8GB). Thus, I cannot use them together and had to return the new kit and am unable to upgrade to 32GB with the same kit now. Thanks Crucial!

  43. N P on October 31, 2021 at 10:55 am

Is anyone else watching this after windows 11 release with a amd performance problem. Intentionally. Lol

  44. Kilthan2050 on October 31, 2021 at 10:56 am

How did AMD allow it to happen? They’ve sucked for decades, that’s how. One good generation doesn’t make them not suck over all.

  45. Владик Карасиков on October 31, 2021 at 10:58 am

    Thank you for this video!
I did not expect thisa much gain of hidden performance, lol…

  46. nomebear on October 31, 2021 at 10:59 am

As a computer technician I’m seeing "no" durability or longevity built into new products. It’s all throwaway, it’s so much worse than just three years ago. I work in healthcare and a CT, MRI, standard X-Ray, and fluroscope were built to last 20 years or more. No longer. Multi-million dollar machines are often delivered broken. The useful life is just 3 years. It’s insanity!

  47. Mwsqz on October 31, 2021 at 10:59 am

    Conspiracy theorist. :))

  48. Choppy Chad on October 31, 2021 at 11:05 am

Typical AMD, looks nice on paper but sucks in practical application.

  49. skilz8098 on October 31, 2021 at 11:06 am

Adding a mux? $1.00 / board. Removing the mux at a performance cost, saves the company $100,000,000 and the average consumer doesn’t know any better until it’s too late!

  50. Kit Smith on October 31, 2021 at 11:09 am

In all of my days of benchmarking computers, after a memory swap, the only true way to test the 2 systems would be to reload them after installing the different memory. Then, and only then, will you get the true benchmark performance results. This goes back to the old days, and it still holds true. Please do the test after said full reloads. I’d like to see what your final results would be then.
