Hai bro
Great video, thanks!
3.1.2 works for Dolby Atmos setups as well, correct?
"I use (movies📽🎞) 9 .2. 6 atmos. But if I listen to music 🎼🎵🎶 in multi channels then it’s in 9.1.6.atmos ..due to base management 😇
Stay safe 😷
d 🤕🗺🇪🇺💜
Thank you man, I’ve got a question for you.
I’m having a brand new 5.1.4 (Marantz 8015 & Klipsch, btw), my question is about the surrounds. Those 2 have to be around 120° (as you shown in the 5.1 at the beginning in your video) because of room disposition, so, in order to enjoy better, would you recommend me to have them as normal surrounds or back surrounds during setup in the AVR?
Michael .1 or .2 is restricted to the .1 due to the audio track for the LFE.
My favs audio guy always well explained. I am set on buying 9 channel amp and definitely doing atmos i I can’t choose between going 5.1.4 or 7.1.2 which combo would be better ?
seems 7.1.4 good enough for atmos movie now😁
Great video! Very informative and explained it well. So much so I had to subscribe 😀. I thought about upgrading to a 9.2 but after watching this video I think a 7.2.4 would work out perfectly and cheaper. Do most of the receivers these days use RCA connectors or just speaker wire? I have some Logitech 5.1 channel speakers that I like to use and maybe just buy a couple more speakers to fill in the gaps. Right now they’re plugged directly into my dumb TV and I don’t really have a good way of calibrating the speakers.
Very explanation. Thanks
Well Explained.
Please Mr. Micheal talk slowly because many of the channel viewers are not speaking English as their native language , your presentation attract other multilingual viewers, which is a clear success for your channel because explaining all these technologies only by words or writings are useless, thanks
I was told by antham engineer that 7.1.4 is great but he also added that in many atmos movies the .4 not needed and can confuse the mix a little so he said 7.1.2 is a better way to go and the atmos high speakers don’t get as much information as people would think so believes 2 atmos is fine whats your take on this ?
if you just get a new paintjob, blackout curtains and new carpet and cbinetry and maybe som led stips in your theatre (basicly a rebuild), your subs are gonna skyrocket. content is great but the walls looks like shit.
Thank you so much for simplifying everything!
Some AVR’s can correct each sub individually. So while they may receive the same signal they still are better then say one output split and pushed to two subs. I’m running a 7.2.4 setup, regardless if it’s technically 7.1.4. I’m sure your more then aware of all of this.
5.2 I don’t understand it …
Hi there, I really enjoy watching your tubes…I would love to hear from you about setting up 2 sets of Focal SIB EVO (5.1.2) total of (6 surround speakers, 4 speakers with atmos enabled and 2 subwoofers) in my new home theater. What would you suggest in terms of layout and receiver (my room is 14’X23′). Thanks for your thoughts.
I thought the .1 or .2 is kept separate because they are line level outputs which are not amplified. This means you either need a separate amp to power the sub channel(s) or they need to be actively powered subs.
hello I have have RBH SV-831R modular monitor speaker and the SV-1212NR , what you think of them?
if I thought about changing what do you recommend? or thats fine! thanks
Finally someone explained this so i can understand
i am in an unfortunate situation where i cannot put in a sub,the only spot i have for a sub is right over my neighbours child`s bedroom, and even then that is behind my tv stand, which would be open, but all my gear is there,so may be an obstruction to line of fire for a sub?
i have 2 fronts and 2 rears,soon to have 4 ceilings and a center
So would my system be called a 5.0.4?
Cheers
There is a difference between “Home theater” and “Commercial Movie theater” and “Music listening room” and “Over doing it”.
I think what allot of “Home Theater” people are looking for is “Balance” young skywalker. Most people only have a small family room to work with maybe 15ft x 15ft. So they don’t need to over do it. They want best value for their money but also a realistic movie experience the way the sound producer would have liked for the sound to be heard. It would also be nice if the AVR could auto calibrate for every movie or content using some type of code. This way every sound producer could get his way and the sound could be heard as the sound producer intended.
For 15 feet, you don’t really need more than two Atmos speakers.
Could you contact me via email ? I have a couple of lengthy questions for my 9.3.4 100% klipsch/Marantz HT set up.
Seeing as though you have a Klipsch system with the same speakers as me, I could not think of a better person to ask..
I intend to up it to 9.3.6 with Auro-3D.
If you are able to reach out via email, I will then give you my email
Thanks for your time.
Peace
Very nice explanation … Thanks
I’m still stuck at 3.2, lol. But I’m enjoying the REL’ s and B&W’s until I can add to them.
Thanks for the info and clarification. I have a 7.1.4 system – I have 4 subs each with it’s own amp. Origin Acoustic in-wall speakers and subs. Dan
Excellent topic. It is possible to have stereo subwoofers? But since a subwoofer has omnidirectional, how it will work?
Hi can you do a vid some time on connecting speaker wire on the back of amp on where exactly the atmos speakers plug into example 5.1.4
what do you recommend on 10k bugged home theater and hi fi audio ?
It would be better if you looked directly into the camera.
Im currently looking at upgrading from my old integra 7.7 to either a denon avc-x4700h or avc-x6700h.
The thing that confuses me, is they are advertises them online here in Oz as 9.1.4 or 11.1.4 on some sites.
So if the 1 stands for 1 x sub. Why do the both units have 2 x sub outlets. So they should be 7.2.4 or 9.2.4
And what pisses me more is. It stated somewhere on a couple of sites. That if you want 4 in ceiling speakers. You can only do this by adding another 2 channel amp.
Ffs
$3500-$5000 aud for these two units. They should be set up to accept the speakers without another amp added…!!!
Otherwise dont advertise them as 7.1.4 or 9.1.4
Advertise them as 7.2.2 & 9.2.2.
Its not really that hard aye.
Lucky i didnt buy yet and these amps dont do what they are advertised to do, without the assistance of another amp that has to be purchased.
Lucky i researched heaps and read the fine print specs.
I got a 3.3.4
Youthman!!! Just subscribed, Iove your content! I’d love your input, if you’d be so kind as to answer one quick question. I recently purchased a 7.2.4 (sort of) Klipsch speaker system.
Here’s my dilemma…I have 4 Klipsch r-625fa, with the "atmos" speakers firing from the top, and 2 Klipsch r-51m surrounds. Can I use 2 of the r-625fa’s for my rear surrounds, and the r-51m’s for the middle surrounds? It would work better as far as furniture placement goes…but if you think it’s a bad idea, I can place them the other way. Any help would be great….I’m new to this.
Hey, can I use the surround speakers as the back speakers instead of side speakers or wouldn’t that sound right?
Great video. I think the number for the subwoofers is like the others tho. a 7.2.4 would mean 2 subwoofers. There are a lot of receivers that do have 2 separate outputs for subwoofers. With one subwoofer in the room the sound is usually easy to localize while 2 subwoofers are almost harder to localize. Also, I noticed your walls in between the speakers were flat. Do you ever worry about sound echo even if the delay is slight. Most have some sort of curtains or fabric in between to dampen the sound and any reverb like a real movie theatre would have.
Any recomendation for a value 5.2.4 receiver??
Just Imagine 10.10.10 😂
Another great video Mike, have to revert to the basics once in awhile, always helpful.
I have a 7.4.4
I’m currently in the process of doing my own room remodel/renovation. I want to do Dolby Atmos surround sound but I don’t want any floor standing speakers, mainly because it’s my personal bedroom and not a theater room and I’ll be having shelves for collectibles and video games.
My room is roughly 16’x16′ with 8′ ceilings (ceiling is flat). For my entertainment center I’ll be having the front left and right tower speakers for opposite side of my TV then having the center speaker mounted below the TV (preferably like a sound bar cause my TV will be wall mounted on a full motion mount). Then I got 4 speakers in the ceiling for the others. I will be having 2 subwoofers, preferably one right by my TV (in front of me while watching TV) then another one behind me.
Some stuff I read is some in ceiling speakers you can angle the tweeter towards you so that you can get that sound. Not sure if this is true or not, I don’t think so because majority of speakers are fixed.
The in ceiling speakers I was looking at, the name brand is Polk Audio. The other Subwoofer I planned on getting was going to be an in wall subwoofer and that was going to be kinda hidden behind my bed so that it gets a floor level sound (since it’ll be underneath my bed).
Tried to read some stuff about it but nothing shows how I want to do my layout and want to do the right set up the 1st time without having to redo nothing… oh and without paying a crap ton of money on someone to come show me cause I’m doing my room remodel/renovation myself.
This is the why my room remodel has can to be standby for nearly 3 months, maybe longer lol, cause of this :/
My house was pretty damaged by Hurricane Laura and Delta last year. If anybody wanted to know.
Thanks if there’s any help and have a good one. Also thanks for your input from your video because I didn’t understood the last numbers.
nice …sir
Awesome explanation, now I want my 16.6.10
5:40 People really have four subwoofers?!
My system is 7.2. And the receiver has two distinct sub channels to feed 2 subs (or in my case 4 subs with 2 subs on each sub channel).
Great video👍🏽 but if you have left and right sub out would the .2 still be considered accurate?
My receiver is a 6 year old Pioneer pre-Atmos with 7.1. I’ve been thinking about hooking up the 6.1 rear center but I’m not sure if it’s worth it. I hooked up the two front height a couple of years ago but no real sound ever came out of them so I took them down. Will the rear center be better?
Great vid nice explanation.
hello I have an av pioneer vsx 354 5.2 ch.my question is can I make it 5.1.2?
I have a Denon 7.1 receiver with height settings. Would it be better to setup a 7.1 or a 5.1.2?
