20 Best Open World Games To Play Right Now

Open-world games have only grown more popular with time, with many series even shifting away from linear design to give players more freedom and bigger areas to explore. Not every open-world game is created equal, however, with classics such as Grand Theft Auto 5 and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild standing out against alternatives that rely too much on “stuff to do” and ever-bigger worlds than making the open world suit the experience. That can make it difficult to find the best open-world games, especially on newer consoles that have so many to choose from. We rounded up some of the very best ones, accounting for the world itself being a big reason for their inclusion–games with tremendous stories that happen to have open worlds, such as Nier: Automata, were left off for this reason. We’ve also geared this mostly toward newer games that are easily accessible today.

I don’t think any open world game would ever reach the level of rdr2, it checks all the boxes of a perfect open world game.

  5. Andrew on September 12, 2021 at 10:32 pm

In hindsight, Ref Dead 2 is overrated.

  6. John Tziannis on September 12, 2021 at 10:35 pm

Ghost of Tsushima is one of the best games ever made. IDC what anybody else says.

  7. Ronnie Fazzio on September 12, 2021 at 10:36 pm

There’s also Ubisoft’s Immortals Fenyx Rising. Gliding through the skies of the Golden Isle with a colorful cast of the Greek Pantheon as well as the Legendary monsters that will get in your way. As you try to save the Gods and become a Hero.

  8. Adi on September 12, 2021 at 10:37 pm

    Nothing beats RDR 2 ❤️

  9. Ell Leigh on September 12, 2021 at 10:37 pm

Nice job not just picking the latest versions of some of these games, like Arkham Knight and Assassins Creed Valhalla, as we know these are not the best in the series

The Witcher 3 by far is the best. Their is no comparison. The graphics, the deep story, the living world, you can practically go into any building, the length of the game. Then the freaking DLC. That’s the reason it won best RPG. Then Somehow the developers hit their head and made Cyberpunk. 😂😂😂😂😂 oh and not to mention the amount of loot you get with the Witcher 3.

  13. omar trachen on September 12, 2021 at 10:43 pm

  47. Stupid Pig on September 12, 2021 at 11:23 pm

Who tf clicked on this video saw gta 5 and thought hmmm that game looks interesting might give it a shot lol

  48. Talha Rehman on September 12, 2021 at 11:26 pm

I was calling for a RDR 2 60 fps patch but after playing it on ps5, i realised how stable 30 fps is not as bad as i thought. The ps4 version was a stuttering chore but the ps5 runs it like magic although it is capped at 30

  49. CEWIIH on September 12, 2021 at 11:27 pm

Can’t wait for the PS5 remasters of Witcher 3 and Skyrim! Bomus shout out for how amazing AC: Odyssey is too, especially now it’s 60fps on PS5! But Sleeping Dogs will always be the best, most fun open world game I’ve ever played.

  50. faisal faruque on September 12, 2021 at 11:28 pm
