Shining Force III & Panzer Dragoon Saga will always be my two favorite games of all time.

  2. I NO PUNK B!TCH on July 4, 2021 at 1:40 am

I was born in 1988. I always thought 1998 and 1996 were the best years.

  3. FRANK203CASTLE on July 4, 2021 at 1:42 am

I was around 16 in 98. Blockbuster video game rentals every weekend was a must. I owned panzer dragoon. And a bunch of other sega CD and dreamcast games worth alot of money now. I will never sell a system again. Great video.

  4. Ganon Tice on July 4, 2021 at 1:44 am

If someone was born in 1999, do they still count as a "90’s" kid?!

  5. Mario The Red Wildfire / Luigi The Green Thunder on July 4, 2021 at 1:44 am

My top 5 favorite years in gaming in no particular order:

    – 1998
    – 2001
    – 1996
    – 2002
    – 1994

Watched the whole video. Half-Life, for me, was that gaming moment I will never re-capture. My friend and I playing the demo on my 3DFX Voodoo Rush card, the resonance cascade occurring…and then…being transported for moments to the alien world of Xen. It gave me chills. The sound design with A3D tech. It was like we were seeing something so spectacular that normal earth people couldn’t imagine it. To me, console gaming was dead. It would be years before I returned to console gaming.

    Great video!
My first games / console was sonic 1 and Toejam and Earl on the megadrive. It started me off collecting consoles 🙂 27 now with a massive retro games room

Ahh, 1998. I, for one, wanted a Sega Saturn so badly back then and still do albeit too a lesser degree these days. Sega’s business decisions (burning bridges with the way they handled the Saturn release a few years earlier) is what led to the downfall of the empire that they built earlier in the decade and essentially doomed the Dreamcast before it even came out. It’s a shame really. I didn’t know where this comment was headed when I began typing it but it’s led me here: can you do a video detailing Sega during the 90s? How they went from Nintendo’s sole, legitimate competitor in the home console market in the early 90s to, at best, struggling to play catch-up by the end of the decade? Their decision to finally throw in the towel and switch to only developing software came in the 2000s so that part be omitted since it didn’t occur during the 90s.

How does this only have 651 views (at the time I’m watching it) and only 75 likes?

I can tell a lot of love and effort get put into these videos, and I really enjoy them. This one was really good, I woke up not feeling so well today, a little on the sick side. Still feel sick, but this helped make me feel better mentally, a little pick me up… like only certain videos on YouTube can. Usually ones involving nostalgia of some kind of course.

I’m definitely going to share this, honestly don’t think I’ve shared one of your videos for a while, sorry 🙁 I have a few friends I know will enjoy this, and hopefully you might pick up a few new subscribers. Keep up the great work on this channel man, your content is great.

Epic Video man!! loved the Intro!! That sound still brings chills up my spine.

  20. WilliamBrothers on July 4, 2021 at 2:00 am

My all time favorite 90s game was Final Fantasy Tactics. It was a bit underrated at the time, but I loved it.

  21. RK NINE on July 4, 2021 at 2:01 am

3:52 I think that’s the room where Allen Turning cracked the enigma code machine during World War 2.

  22. L_LKoolKid on July 4, 2021 at 2:02 am

That was the greatest year of my childhood. Average grade was an A in school, I was 8 years old, my dad as a dentist was pulling in serious bank and I got basically everyone I wanted. Nobody in my family died, shit was beautiful.

In gaming, I had Nintendo 64 and a game boy color. Zelda OOT is one of the GOAT games for me

  23. Spitting Knowledge For Mind Elevation on July 4, 2021 at 2:08 am

I think 1998 was the best year for gaming with number 2 being 2001. My favorite of 98 was Zelda Toot, Metal Gear Solid, Tekken 3, Half Life, Mortal Kombat 4 for N64, Turok 2, KOF 98, Metal Slug 2, Real Bout Fatal Fury 2: The Newcomers.

  24. LamborghiniLee on July 4, 2021 at 2:08 am

    Dreamcast was a beast

  25. Bean Legume on July 4, 2021 at 2:11 am

1998 Ocarina of Time and Final Fantasy Tactics. Enough said.

  26. Samuel Melendez on July 4, 2021 at 2:12 am

    Only 90’s kids can relate
    2000’s kid: I can relate
    90’s kid: *YOU WHAT?!*

  29. CatDad_Joe on July 4, 2021 at 2:16 am

Absolutely agree. Half-Life alone is enough, not to mention other gems

  30. jeremy fincham on July 4, 2021 at 2:16 am

When it comes to best video game years, 2004 often comes to my mind

  31. rocknrollanp on July 4, 2021 at 2:19 am

I have 1998 seared into my nostalgia forever. That year was AMAZING!

Banjo Kazooie doesn’t blow Mario 64 out of the water

  33. Chris RJ on July 4, 2021 at 2:20 am

    1994 was better.

  34. Shelby's garage on July 4, 2021 at 2:20 am

I remember in Zelda when you jump off the bridge and it’s a long fall, actually feeling vertigo as my stomach went into my throat. That was a trip lol

  35. superswag 98 on July 4, 2021 at 2:23 am

    PS2 killed the Dreamcast

  36. Charlie Digital on July 4, 2021 at 2:25 am

98 is the GOAT year. A close 2nd place is 1994 and a distant third place is 2004 Imo

  37. Magic Johnson on July 4, 2021 at 2:27 am

    You forgot Thief

Grand Prix Legends, the best racing sim of all time, was released on PC in 1998. The developers eventually moved on to create iRacing which is the best current racing sim, but Grand Prix Legends earned such a following that people are still creating content for it – recently released is the GPL 2020 Demo which showcases some of the cars and tracks (as well as fan made game engine improvements) that have been made over the last 22 years.

Doesn’t matter what your favourite genre is, 1998 had a defining game for you to play.

Flight simulators got Falcon 4.0 another game so good that is is still being modded and played today with massive fan-made additions and conversions (called BMS if anyone is interested).

  40. Will The Hatter on July 4, 2021 at 2:35 am

2017 is the modern equivalent imo.

  41. Chris Hayate on July 4, 2021 at 2:36 am

Skyward Sword? lol .. No honestly, the only years that can seriously rival 1998 are 2001 (Halo, Metal Gear Solid 2, Super Smash Bros, GTA 3, Devil May Cry, Silent Hill 2, FFX, Max Payne) and 2004 (SW Battlefront, Halo 2, Fable, WoW, Metal Gear Solid 3, GTA San Andreas)
