Planet X2 or Planet X3 are good single dev games.

Axiom Verge is one of my favourites, but I love Metroid style games so it would always be up there. I also love Stardew Valley a lot.
Akalabeth was definitely a watershed moment in single-developer gaming, though it is interesting that Lord British was already seeking outside help by the time he made Ultima despite it being so similar.

Good games but they’re ususally too derivative.
I did like how in early gaming they found a way to make technical limitations part of the game

What about Rakuen? Laura Shigihara not only developed the game but also created an amazing story and one of the greatest soundtracks for a game I’ve ever heard. I think she also did some of the art with the help of two friends. Just an all around super talented person.
As someone who studies game design and is working on their own game I can confirm that is something that is very hard
Apparently The Slater was made by one person and it’s graphics actually look decent. Just a shame it’s a very bad rip off of Hitman

As for the question "how could a game made by one person have a better story than most triple A games". Books are usually written by one person, having many people working on a story line usually isn’t beneficial. It can often be detrimental, making your story seem kinda ‘schizophrenic’ or all over the place. Plus the corporate greed sticking it’s fingers in the plot.
I’m not sure what’s #1. As I haven’t seen the video yet but if stardew valley isn’t on here then I’ll cry

Wasn’t Five Nights at Freddy’s programmed jus by Scott Cathown? I personally don’t care for the game, but given its success it’s quite a big omission from your list.
I don’t play it anymore but Stardew Valley took weeks off my life. No regrets.
