With a French door you need to bend down ALL the time for freezer contents. With SxS, you put less often used fridge items on the bottom and less often used freezer items in the bottom. So more often used freezer items are reached more easily.

Do NOT buy Samsung refrigerator!! For god’s sake!!!! DO NOT!
Great review!!!! Going for French door!!!
I hate my French door refrigerator…I miss my side by side and I’m going back to it
From personnel experience, French door type fridges are notorious for poor ice production and dispensing (in door – melting and freezing lockup) and they also tend to accumulate ice on the bottom of the freezer area, under the pull out freezer drawer, as the upper refrigerator internal humidity drain gets plugged, feeezes and then overflows into the lower drawer where it accumulates on the bottom and freezes.
Over time, it’ll seep behind the seal, thaw and leak onto the floor. Unplugging the drain tube causing this requires removing everything from the fridge, removing the internal back panel, unclog and reinstall…real pain in the butt and a huge inconvenience! The whole process takes over half an hour, knowing what to do and it’ll take hours to re-cool the fridge and food.
Unfortunately, the drain tubes typically run really close to the freezer area and it’ll eventually freeze up again, creating the aforementioned mess all over again.
yeah neah the bullshit stinks
Guys a true salesman. No real space/volume benefit in a french door fridge but a more efficient layout. Most of them actually have less space in the freezer drawer along with being much more cluttered with everything piled up. Also, many french door refrigerators have the ice maker in the shelf area taking up fridge space so that is not an exclusive side by side issue. Also, french door refrigerator ice makers have more issues because of being in the main fridge area and exposed to warmer than freezing temps causing the ice makers to freeze up and not work (all brands). Really comes down to the model and what the user wants as each design have advantages and disadvantages.
missing my wine bottles in a french door fridge, multiple movies to open it, not properly working ice machine, no volume freezer at all, more expensive. SxS still working best to my needs
Lazy video….How difficult would have been for you to actually have a pizza box handy? Also cramming everything into a chest freezer doesn’t seem ideal.
This guy lives in his gramma basement never owned a fridge, side by side is best
French door ice makers break more often though.
I lost him when he stared at the LG logo and said "this is a Whirpool French" at 00:42.
Side by side for me. I hate everything about french door fridges. I keep a lot of frozen foods and the freezer compartment on a french door is a disorganized train wreck.
How reliable is the French door as compared to the side by side?
My side by side has the ice maker built into the door, so it’s innacurate to attribute that only to French door fridges. Having owned both, I will also say that the freezer contents on a French door fridge tends to be a ‘large pile of stuff’ piled at kneecap level and below, with fewer ways to organize, IMO. Some things to consider anyway, and to each his/her own.
Always take salesman advise with a grain or entire shaker of salt. This guy is probably commission based and is going net another $500 to $800 in sales by selling a french door fridge. More expensive is always better to the guy making the money from the sale.
I absolutely HATE my french door freezercompartment !
Lol looks at the LG sticker and calls it whirlpool. Dumb ass
That’s not true….you can fit a decent size frozen pizza box in a side by side…it all depends on the size of the freezer…the one I have you can lay a pizza box flat
I will say the French door looks nicer but that’s it. The side by side has better organization imo. Especially in the freezer. Who wants to have to did underneath piles of stuff in the french door freezer. But to each their own.
They do make side-by-sides with the ice in door Whirlpool Model #WRS588FIHZ plus the cubic feet in freezer is larger
I think the premise of the video is wrong… It should be comparison of pros and cons of each configuration and acknowledging that each one would work for a different segment of customers… reading the comment, its clear that people needs and preferences vary and therefore some are pro SxS and some are pro french door. You really have to look at your needs and your usage and from that pick the one that fits
If you can’t bend over, only use the top half of both sides of the side by side refrigerator, thus rendering the freezer useless on a french door refrigerator…idiot!
Therefore, side by side wins!!! ✌🏻
I just miss the old school top freezer fridges! They are hard to find in stainless.
voice is too low and background and outro sounds are way tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo loud
Of course the salesman likes the more expensive one
Completely agree. There is no benefit of side by side.
