Battery life is the biggest reason to use a bike computer over a smartphone for navigation

  2. Laki on January 22, 2022 at 4:36 pm

Just buy a 30€ phone and get GPS for it…

  3. Jeff on January 22, 2022 at 4:37 pm

Wouldn’t it be good if Google made a GPS cycle computer.

  4. Dev on January 22, 2022 at 4:38 pm

  5. D W on January 22, 2022 at 4:38 pm

Do you need a Di2 system to track RPM and KW?
    Or how does this work?

  6. crapier2000 on January 22, 2022 at 4:38 pm

Garmin products fail frequently. So does their customer service. Returned last two Garmin products and will never buy another one.

My phone does not have any problem with battery and is only 200 Euro πŸ™‚ But I have problems to fix it secure on the handle bar. I already have doped it down several times. (The phone still working without problem!) If somebody does know a good handle-bar holder please advice;-) https://www.banggood.com/Ulefone-Power-5-6_0-inch-13000mAh-Wireless-Charge-6GB-RAM-64GB-ROM-MT6763-Octa-core-4G-Smartphone-p-1287016.html?rmmds=search&ID=3162&cur_warehouse=HK

I want the bike computer developers to think about the following safety issue we encounter on Belgian roads. The code of conduct allows bikers (amateur Lance Armstrongs) to ride with two or more next to another in builded areas. They do that while brabbeling ie they can’t ride after another never ever. That makes the road very hazardous when you are in a car. Now if that computer has a GPS on it knowing where are the builded areas it can give a sonoric sign when a car comes up driving in their ass and it can give a new sonoric sign when they leave the legally defined builded area and should ride after another. No? All car conducters are completely fed up with amateur cyclists not giving way and they are legally held to a side distance of 40 inch which makes it impossible to pass. On this a bicycle rider is legally seen as a weak traffic participant and thus has all the rights in case of a treffic accident he is involved in. You could call that bike rider terror. All you have to do is upload a Coyote speed indication file on your computer and define the builded areas. Maybe a rider could personalize the sound of that sign….No?

800 dollar? Just buy a new phone lol

  11. Pady on January 22, 2022 at 4:48 pm

And what phone app uses off-line maps? Runtastic (MountainBike), bingo! πŸ™‚ Pay once, use years

  12. razorree on January 22, 2022 at 4:48 pm

which ones offer intergration (tracks) from Trailforks and/or Strava ?

  13. Check6Six6 on January 22, 2022 at 4:50 pm

Dorky having a phone on your bike? Really? Google Maps is free with your phone AND has all the bike trails overlay. I have the Samsung S9+ so it has a BIG color screen. It should be number one on your list. I use the Samsung Health app with it when I go biking. Again, it’s free and it’s much more user friendly and informative than Strava.

hi.. do these devices work on AA/AAA batteries or USB charge?

  15. Makis G. on January 22, 2022 at 4:53 pm

One thing I hate about this channel : where are the MF LINKS!

  16. Mitchell S Metzger on January 22, 2022 at 4:53 pm

Garmin 25: I used mine for over 5,000 miles and it has worked but the battery dies in less than 5 hours and if it is cold, the battery dies in about 3 hours. When you plug it in to recharge on the road using your power bank, everything goes back to zero again. Also, it is not perfect in partnership with the GarminConnect app. If your ride is longer than 3 hours, do NOT go with this model. SOLUTION: It needs to be re-engineered with a mini-USB connector port so that you can have it CONTINUALLY plugged in while you are navigating. IT does have a strange connector port but you CANNOT use the mounting bracket if you have it plugged in to your power source.

Love my new Gamin Edge 130 with the remote control πŸ™Œ

  18. SnowblindOtter on January 22, 2022 at 4:54 pm

Sorry, I think I missed the cycling computer in this lineup… all I saw were _NAVIGATION COMPUTERS._ It’s a bicycle, not a fighter jet… if I want a navigation aid I’ll take a map and strap a compass to my handlebars, I don’t need a GPS signal to tell me how fast I’m moving.

  19. xieulong on January 22, 2022 at 4:55 pm

Meh, I just use my phone.

  20. fjoa123 on January 22, 2022 at 4:58 pm

What are the best minimal speed and cadence cyclocomputers out there? Gps surely is handy, but since most phones have it already, it is just a price boost on CCs.

  21. neuregel on January 22, 2022 at 4:58 pm

i wish garmin would fix the issue with wanting to return you to start at beginning of rides.

  22. DANTE TORRES on January 22, 2022 at 4:58 pm

Waze is better on directional map. It’s updated often.

  23. Marcin Terlecki on January 22, 2022 at 4:58 pm

I use zip ties and silicone case for my phone and attach it to my handlebars
Google maps and off we go πŸ’ͺ🏻πŸ’ͺ🏻

  24. Salty Bill on January 22, 2022 at 4:59 pm

Just bought a Garmin, didnt want to but it works with Trailforks….do any other brands do that?

  25. Steve K on January 22, 2022 at 5:02 pm

I used to use a garmin GPS V about 17 years ago on a bicycle and it worked beautifully. It was easy to load routes and the monochrome screen lasted a good while. I would think they’d be much better by now. Comments here indicate otherwise and that is amazing.

  26. Bogdan Pop on January 22, 2022 at 5:02 pm

Hello ! Why do not Polar come in this top. It is a very good computer with no great errors, and the V650 looks really good.

  27. Achmad Sodri on January 22, 2022 at 5:03 pm

  29. RS on January 22, 2022 at 5:06 pm

Garmin is like the Homer Car of bike computers. The software is absolute trash, I can’t even believe it’s a released product. Literally no comparison between the Wahoo Elemnt Roam and the Garmin 1030+. It’s like if Wahoo was Apple, Garmin would be HP and the software was created by the call center in India. It’s complete garbage, wow, did I mention how bad it is?! Garmin is NOT good.

  30. kslikk34 on January 22, 2022 at 5:07 pm

So skynet I mean Google, when are you going to make a bicycle computer?πŸ‘€πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  32. Ricardo edwardo on January 22, 2022 at 5:08 pm

Garmin overpriced, unreliable and breaks. Had several Garims, 510, 810, 1030, ALL sent back to Garmin for problems.
Bought an Bolt, superb, reliable and bombproof

  33. AWriterWandering on January 22, 2022 at 5:08 pm

I wish Apple and Google would develop something similar to their car integration for bike computers, so we could have things like Google Maps without having to pull out our phones.

  34. Big Flat on January 22, 2022 at 5:10 pm

    What’s the price?

  35. Laurie Queener on January 22, 2022 at 5:14 pm

I use the Garmin Edge 830 and it’s really great:

if you often go in unknown places it’s really useful.

  36. Mario Camps on January 22, 2022 at 5:15 pm

I wanted to use this medium to alert the bike community about MAGELLAN / MIO CYCLO in its entire line, if they buy that device and leave outside the area of their map, they CANNOT follow a track, nor use STRAVA LIVE even paying for example in SOUTH AMERICA where there are no maps, the device is locked to follow a WIKILOC track for example, which they do not clarify anywhere, they even cheat saying they use OpenStreetMaps use it but no one but them can use those maps that are in the public domain . Already exhausted all means and it seems that they are not willing to solve the problem.
    Regards, Mario Camps

  37. william gillan on January 22, 2022 at 5:16 pm

  38. De Cnijf Kris on January 22, 2022 at 5:17 pm

Call me ignorant, but what do the professionals use?

  50. De Cnijf Kris on January 22, 2022 at 5:35 pm

For Lezyne, Ludo bikes is at a mile from my door and they should do something extra to promote some of your beautiful products. They do Granville too and it seems to me we see less of those bikes on our roads. They concentrated on fleet bike parcs lately. For me Lezyne tyre repair kits , pumps and lights and bell should be standard at any local bike shops which isn’t the case. If I were to buy a new quality pump I would look for a ZΓ©fal pump and not for a Lezyne cuz I don’t know it but I’m sure it is worth its money. The organizers are also very sleek and many people go on a bike vacation over here. To stay in the terminology they have to pump it up over here!
