Nice work – good memories of the VCS there. Adventure really grabbed me – it had atmosphere to it.

People have to remember, in the 70s it was amazing to be able to plug a cable in to your TV (the only one in the house) and turn it in to an arcade game. We had some console for Christmas in 1978 and the entire family was addicted. It was the first time we’d seen it so nobody criticised the graphics, we didn’t have today’s retrospect! Good times!

These games look simple but fun
And of course teens in the 70s didn’t need ultra realistic warfare games
they got to go to Vietnam and do it for real

Most 2600 games sucked and cost a fortune. Some people became rich quickly, while poor schmucks (like me and my brother) wasted very precious money on these rip-offs. I remember how the packaging of the games really made a big difference in the shop.. I was mesmerised by the graphics. And hugely disappointed when we got the game running at home.

70’s video games seems to be simple, yet competitive. Many games you played on your iPod, and phone were remakes of these games.

Cool video, but the only games of those Atari VCS cartridges that actually came out in the ’70s were Combat and Air-Sea Battle. Night Driver, Adventure, Circus Atari, Dodge ‘Em, and Space Invaders weren’t released until 1980. Super Breakout didn’t actually come out until 1981. (Copyright dates on the cartridge labels aren’t usually very reliable because there isn’t a lot of consistency.) However, the arcade games they were based on were released in the ’70s.

I liked the fact that the Atari 2600 at home cost you nothing (No Quarters) to play but the Arcade Game BreakOut was much better.

I like this assessment of video games from the 70s. But I disagree that the Atari 2600 versions of Space invaders or Breakout is better than the arcade.

The Atari 2600 had a "cheat" on Space Invaders. If you held the start switch down when you turned the system on, you could multi fire and not wait for a strike to fire again.

The atari 2600 space invaders if you have this and it works OK get it ready to play now when you turn on the atari hold down the "Select "switch and while holding down the "Select" move the "Power" switch up then release the "select" and there could be more steps I am not remembering right now.
