Although FFVIIR was overly stretched out with boring, and pointless, mid-game sidequests, and the story was heavily altered for no reason other than to make it longer for more installations and thus more $, it’s still a good game.
Not as good as everyone hoped it would be but good enough to get game of the year for sure. Lots of fun to play with amazing visuals and music. (It was a bad year for games though.)

ff7r was amazing, the funny thing is, this released the same month as resident evil 3 remake, which by itself should have been a very safe remake especially after re2r, yet capcom screwed re3r up while square delivered with ff7r, who would have seen that coming after resi 2 and ff15?
FF7R is definitely up there for me. This coming out in April, right at the beginning for quarantine got me through that whole month. Lots of good times there

Since Tom chooses Final Fantasy VII Remake as his number 1 game for 2020, Tom is now my favorite Digital Foundry guy since I know he has a great taste in games, a real and certified gamer.. not just a graphics obsessed benchmarker.
