Download our FREE Counter-Depth Refrigerator Buying Guide with honest reviews of all the most popular brands and updates on new tech and trends:

In this video, you will learn about the top five most reliable counter-depth refrigerator brands for 2022. We will show you the best features and a few problems for each and how we calculate reliability based on the 48,392 service calls we logged in 2021. In the end, you will know if any of these refrigerator brands are right for you.

Now, you know you may have an annoying ice maker problem within five years, statistically, but the refrigerator will work and save money in energy costs.

The top 5 are LG, Samsung, Bosch, Profile, and Cafe.

With a service rate of 15.5% just on refrigerators, you will also need some service, especially with a whole package of other kitchen appliances.

You wouldn’t notice the other part of what we consider as reliable. Bosch and GE are better at turning around parts and service than the others.

In addition to researching prices and features, you should know your service agent before making any purchase.

Well the last French door refrigerator was Samsung. It lasted for 4 years & the compressor went bad so they gave me a refund. I then bought the LG and it lasted for another 4 years and again the compressor just went bad a few days ago, now my fridge only have warm air. I’m waiting for a week for LG service Tech to come & check it out.

MY Samsung stop making Ice after 3 years and door comes off.

I ended up on your channel because our LG LFXC24726 refrigerator died this weekend. We purchased it in 2015 and had service issues in 2017 (food was melted and refrozen after a week-long vacation) and 2018 (clogged drain line). Today the repair company confirmed the compressor needs replacement. We’re probably buying a new refrigerator instead of repairing it for $1,250. He said to never buy Samsung or LG which is interesting given your service call logs.

I wouldn’t buy any of the brands you just recommended.

You made a video explaining reasons to avoid counter-depth refrigerators, but you don’t seem to have reviews of any full-depth refrigerators on your channel. We’re about to pull the trigger on a new Cafe full-depth fridge, but it’d be great to see the pros and cons of other models.

    I like my subzero fridge

Are these one-year numbers or first-year numbers? Do they include only units you sold in 2022, the previous rolling 12 months, or would they include 4-year-old fridges that were also fixed in the previous year? Sorry to ask a picky question but I am considering an LG french door with an ice maker and it is really hard to find out if they figured out their linear compressor issues

What are your thoughts on Fisher & Paykel counter-depth fridges? Thanks!

Thank you for explaining how standings are derived.

I was one of those unfortunate people who bought a bad LG fridge. What a nightmare. Compressor failed. Board failed. Ice maker failed 3 times. So we have no ice maker now. Also the freezer section was horrible for freezer burn. They might be better now but the experience was so horrible we will never buy another LG product. After all of trouble and complaints they should have replaced the fridge. Never again LG!

So blessed your on the net. Just bought a house and converting to gas range and still looking for a high CFM hood to exhaust. Any thoughts on ikitch off Amazon? Great price 700 + CFM. Going for GeProfile and Bosch dishwasher.

This list is interesting. We bought a house 4 years ago with a complete kitchen of brand new GE appliances. The microwave and dishwasher have completely failed already, the refrigerator works but not great, noisy and it can take 47 seconds to dispense a glass of ice.. The stove works but temp is very inaccurate, IE water boils on the stove on it’s lowest setting. I’d never buy another GE of any of their lines.
We bought a Samsung washer and dryer. Both were plagued with issues at 13 months (12 month waranty) and service was hard to get. When he did arrive (a Japaneese guy and a translator) he told me the loud squeaking, banging against the wall as it spun (empty) and it shutting off with a "4E" error is "normal because it’s not one of our commercial units" then charged $140 to do absolutely nothing. He then said a spring might have come loose but it would be more to open it up. I’ll never buy another Samsung either.

Fisher-Paykel counter depth, no water/ice maker was $$$ and physically beautiful. Just me and hubby, minimal usage, never moved/damaged. Overnight, about 2.4 years in, went from working 100% perfectly at 8pm, to not fixable. This was not a ‘gradually not cooling’, or funny noise, no power surge, no nothing. This was perfect to rotten while we slept. 5 service calls 2.5 months through extended warranty to be told can’t be fixed. First service call was told EVERYTHING not working; freon leak, compressor, fan. Parts all replaced 8 hour job. Still doesn’t work. New board. Still doesn’t work. Bought from local appliance company, not big box store. Extended warranty is useless because in 2 months of eating out and using a dorm fridge, I’ve spent well over the cost of the initial service call. Seriously how could this happen, it is beyond me. Just warning others.

Any opinion or data on Liebherr?

  16. JP Massaro on June 3, 2022 at 11:21 pm

What would you say is the best standard depth French door refrigerator? Our Samsung is 4 years old, just had the ice maker repaired but I’m not hopeful that it will last and figure it’s only a matter of time before the whole fridge goes down. Can you give any insight on the Bosch B36FD50SNS, or would you recommend a different unit?

  17. Mark Hughes on June 3, 2022 at 11:36 pm

Great info thank you! We will NEVER buy a Samsung refrigerator again. Absolutely the worst especially the ice maker. Wish I would have seen your video channel sooner.

  18. God and glory on June 3, 2022 at 11:38 pm

My samsung just died today after 3 years only, we got the local repair guy that has been in the biz for a very long time. He said never buy a samsung or a GE. Recommend maytag, whirlpool and fridgidaire

  19. Safeway Driving on June 3, 2022 at 11:39 pm

It is astonishing that LG will finish at number one. We have had three LG refrigerators and they all bit the dust in just over a year. I would never buy another LG product, they are generally cheaply made and don’t last very long.

I am so glad that you stress knowing who will service your appliances before buying. I remember reading some complaints a few years ago that were from people who had bought European appliances over the internet, but were living in the middle of small town America. Needless to say, they were not able to find service in their immediate areas, and felt that they had wasted their money.
