Another very informative video. Thanks.. Two comments. While this was a great summary, I seem to recall you covering most of this stuff in prior videos? I also fail to see the point of carrying your cell phone in your pocket but needing to carry a backpack for more photo such as bigger tripods, computers, etc. My great hope and current philosophy is "if it doesn’t fit in my jeans pocket then it doesn’t go on the photography trip " but that is me.

Do you have any comments about using the newer AI based long exposure apps, e.g. Spectre, for shooting night sky stuff hand held.

Thanks for the info. Curious to know…what did you film this video with? It’s really great quality. I’m looking for something good to do videos and tossing up between an iphone, video camera or camcorder

Thanks so much Shayne. Spending money was never more entertaining.

  4. Ben Gluyas on April 17, 2022 at 6:48 pm

What a damn shame…. The two products that impressed me (and you seem to love) the most are no longer available. MT-35 & ST34,,,, no more upside down ball joint. Why, why, why??? 👎🏼
Thanks all the same and keep up the great work. Cheers

I’ve literally been looking for a good tripod for my 12 pro max as it’s too big for the normal one, this video will surely help

  7. Eric Gallegos on April 17, 2022 at 6:58 pm

Is the Ulanzi MT-35 a hot item because I can’t seem to find it anywhere online

  8. Pierre Bujold on April 17, 2022 at 6:58 pm

This is a great one I can say helped me make up my mind mate. Had been holding off in getting a Joby to go with my Ulanzi ST-14 Holder and for sure now I’m going for the Ulanzi MT-35. Thanks for this awesome review.

I went to the Ulanzi web site and I didnt see the MT-35 showing so ordered the MT-33. I think just a tad smaller. Using it for a thru hike of the Appalachian trail in 2022. Hope it works out well the little Joby I was using kept breaking!!!

  12. Shane Ladue on April 17, 2022 at 7:01 pm

  16. Vijayant gaur on April 17, 2022 at 7:04 pm

shayne your content is absolute gold!! I’d a quick question though – what tripod should I get as an absolute beginner. I love the Manfrotto but I feel that may be a overkill at this point, can I use Ulanzi MT-35 for astro photography? also do I need to purchase a ST-02? sorry if the questions seem stupid, I’ve never done it before your channel is the main inspiration behind this hobby! 😀

  17. Scott Baker on April 17, 2022 at 7:07 pm

I use almost the exact tripod for hiking. Its a different brand than the Ulanzi, made by Lammcou, but it has the same flexible legs. Its terrific

  18. Tasty Turnips on April 17, 2022 at 7:08 pm

Does the Ulanzi come with a smartphone mount in the box? Or does it need to be purchased separately?

  19. Cosmic Rob on April 17, 2022 at 7:08 pm

I have just recently started to follow this channel and I must say the content is really really well thought out and detailed. But the most amazing thing I found is there is something about the way Shayne presents the stuff….. personally I find it to be very captivating….I donno if it’s his Aussie accent or what, but it sure as hell does the trick.

  23. Patricia Rivas on April 17, 2022 at 7:15 pm

Thank you sir! Great video! You always cost me cash! I worked with Aussies 20 years and the friendliest and lovely people!

  24. Amanda Wright on April 17, 2022 at 7:15 pm

Thanks Shayne. I’m thinking of getting into mobile technology after buying my Samsung S21 Ultra. I’m a beginner so looking for inexpensive equipment that will do the business. Cheers.

  25. Moore Smoke on April 17, 2022 at 7:17 pm

A question for you not about tripods… is photopills a one time payment or a monthly payment? And does it work without problems on the S21 Ultra? Thanks in advance

  26. Tom Sawyer on April 17, 2022 at 7:20 pm

very nice video, informative and useful, exactly what i am looking for, a strong and reliable phone holder, this should be a standard accessory from the phone manufacturer, seems like there is a new one, Ulanzi MT-45 Claw Flexible Tripod

  27. Will Newcomb on April 17, 2022 at 7:21 pm

One of the things I like about you Shayne, is that you’re videos are always B-S free haha. That cannot be said of many techie YouTubers!!!

They say the best camera is the one you have with you.
The best tripod is the one you have with you.

OK, if you’re going out in low light you know you’ve going to need something sturdy, so you may opt for a steel girder!!!
I hardly ever take low light photos (I’m waiting for some clear skies… I might be dead before I get them haha).
I only have a cheap mini selfie-stick/tripod which fits in my pocket. Really useful, like my smartphone. I might consider one of the small ones you recommended, but they don’t have the selfie-stick extension which I find REALLY useful, particularly if there are loads of people around and you need to get above their heads, and mine has a Bluetooth remote, but perhaps I don’t need that any more now I have an Apple Watch!

    Thank you and blessings.

Always a good content and direct to the point, thanks!

  30. Holger Winkler on April 17, 2022 at 7:28 pm

Unfortunately, Ulanzi is a Chinese company. Don’t you have any suggestions for American or European companies?

  31. Pilotsharks Hanger on April 17, 2022 at 7:29 pm

It is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Thanks, a good tripod video. That new Ulanzi phone holder seems could also replace extra gear for lights and microphones.
May the weather always be CAVU.

  32. Ben Braaf on April 17, 2022 at 7:30 pm

hmm the MT-35 is nowhere to be found 🙁

  33. Daniel R. on April 17, 2022 at 7:30 pm

Your links to the Ulanzi tripod do not work. I wanted to order it but it is not found on their page. Looks like they discontinued it.
