Save Money on PC Hardware in Australia

Save Money on PC Hardware in Australia

Computer hardware costs a lot in Australia, usually quite a bit more than other counties, but there are some things you can do to save hundreds of dollars on your next PC build. With these simple tips I’ll show you how I saved over $500 AUD on my new Threadripper workstation, but the steps apply to all PC hardware so you can save serious dollars on your next gaming machine!

I’m not having a go at any Australian retailers in this video, just pointing out that you can potentially save quite a bit of money shopping elsewhere in some particular instances.

U.S is generally cheaper because of the population v the population here. As for GST try the UK which adds 20%, and many US states add s states sales tax.

  20. k2 on April 16, 2021 at 2:46 am

I can’t even afford to buy a decent PC better than my 5 year old laptop without paying a fortune. I really genuinely wish I lived in America instead. I’m sick of my bank account getting ANNIHILATED with expensive rent and over-taxed out of date goods. Oh well, back to the TV to hear about prince Harry and watch politicians act like 7 years olds. (ty for good video)

  26. I Loot You Hoot on April 16, 2021 at 2:51 am

Australia has very good buyer consumer rights with your warranties and replacements. Buying outside of Australia you may not have as good cover so best double check that

  27. Bendy Cjom on April 16, 2021 at 2:51 am

DOA and warranty on international buys what happens then ? waiting waiting and more waiting

  28. Kwistenbiebel200 on April 16, 2021 at 2:54 am

The GST of 10% on import is now on ALL items of ANY price since over a year. You should update the video and see if it is still worth it now. I just bought a 2000 AUD PC here in Perth which in the US would be a 1000 USdollars worth, but I doubt if it would be much cheaper importing. Ps, they built it for me.

  29. Derp Pickle on April 16, 2021 at 2:55 am

  37. Bob Man on April 16, 2021 at 3:06 am

This is a very unpopular video 🙁 very educational aswell 🙁

  38. Adster on April 16, 2021 at 3:06 am

we sure do get ripped off anything with technology is a rip off. the PS store charge $100 for day 1 game. which is why digital will never take off here, it’s also the reason we are the highest pirated country and why local retail struggles. with things and the government won’t listen! we also pay more for movies music etc etc the list goes on! trying to build my own PC now and most of the sites and videos I see are all America where it sounds so cheap then you put in Aust dollar and it’a always double more, and now the idiot government have put GST on purchases from overseas now too. so we screwed trying to buy from overseas cheaper as well.

  39. Jeremy Webb on April 16, 2021 at 3:07 am

    buy. from. MSY.

  40. Thomas Mikhael on April 16, 2021 at 3:08 am

Yes we do get ripped off but, in America they have a lower average wage in here in Aus we have a higher average wage.

  41. the evo guy on April 16, 2021 at 3:09 am

  42. Ben Shafik on April 16, 2021 at 3:13 am

  45. TheChargingCow on April 16, 2021 at 3:18 am

i vary much appreciated this video, i didnt know about a few things you said before now, time to buy before they change the GST law
but also, WHERE DID YOU GET THAT DOCTOR WHO SHIRT??? no really, i NEED to get one

  46. dino patrol on April 16, 2021 at 3:20 am

newegg is shit they scammed me when i brought a pc case and it never arrived

  47. Ash ketchup on April 16, 2021 at 3:20 am

the govt makes majority of its international income through trade tax the item coming into australia gets taxed first so companies raise the prices, then to that gst is added, thus retailers raise their prices again thus everything here in australia is 30 to 40% more expensive on average then in us and other countries

  48. Just an Allosaurus on April 16, 2021 at 3:21 am

It’s ridiculous how much PC hardware costs here in Australia. Some people on amazon are asking for 1.4k for the 1060, if your going to buy a PC buy the parts from America

  49. psy06 on April 16, 2021 at 3:21 am

we get ripped off on everything in Australia. we are too isolated, huge land with a pretty small population. there’s not that much competition out here. most retailers are probably buying all their stock from the same importer anyways
