PlayStation Now vs. Xbox Game Pass: The Facts and Why They SHOULDN'T Be Compared

PlayStation Now vs. Xbox Game Pass: The Facts and Why They SHOULDN'T Be Compared

With PlayStation Now’s new low price for a monthly or yearly subscription, a big conversation is sprouting about just how good it is compared to Xbox Game Pass. And while it’s easy to see why people are coming to this discussion, it makes a lot more sense to judge them on their own. Waiting for Microsofts xCloud initiative, or even Stadia, is where the bigger picture starts. For now, watch me ramble on for nearly 15 minutes, and also send me pictures of your pets on Twitter.

Sony should change the name of Playstation Now to Playstation Then ‘n Now and have games from PS1 til current and include PSP and PS Vita. People want backwards compatibility… well there you have it.

  2. Ionian N on May 1, 2021 at 2:17 am

The biggest downside of PS Now is that you can’t download ps3 games on ps4 because that isn’t supported (like wtf).
The ps3 collection of ps now is no doubt the best I’ve ever seen with infamous, kill zone, battle field, star war the force unleashed, fallout 3 and new vegas and many more, but the fact that you can only stream them and are therefore restricted to the capability of your own wifi connection is absolutely nonsense.

Im not sure how the PS5 is going to handle it, maybe the add a full backwards capability but as of now on ps4 ps now is pretty underwhelming compared to the xbox gamepass.

  3. DuoDing on May 1, 2021 at 2:18 am

PS now doesn’t have very good games. Yeah Xbox doesn’t have a lot more than ps4 but Xbox game pass has RDR 2, GOW 5, SOT, And The surge 2 just to name a few (also the entire halo series with forza, dead by daylight, battle toads, final Fantasy, hello and secret neighbor, almost all the kingdom Hearts, Minecraft and Minecraft dungeons, NBA 2k20, no man sky, streets of rage 4, and we happy few) and when I went on ps now, I was like YAY persona 5, then I couldn’t play it anymore after 5 days. 😒 reason why I commented this is because this guy didn’t fully cover the games. After this video I bought ps now and thought I was gonna get good, exclusive, million dollar title games, nope, I got bullshit, PS now puts a 60 day timer on every big exclusive game. What’s the problem with that? Well, I wanna enjoy my games and my service not just buy it and then I get to play the new God of war for 24 hours. Also All "52%" Of ps now owners Are from disappointed people who thought they would get at least some good 𝙋𝙎4 𝙏𝙄𝙏𝙇𝙀𝙎, also the reason why PS now has more people coming to it is because they don’t tell them up front that games will go away, and also ps4 has more buys than xbox, it’s simple math this guy just doesn’t want to get into it. PS5 is also calculated to have less buys and be less powerful than the Xbox series x (just saying). All in all, PS Now has shit games and isn’t upfront with all of its buyers, while Xbox game pass gives you good games and doesn’t bullshit you

  4. JasonGuitarHand on May 1, 2021 at 2:19 am

I really enjoy PS Now.. but I kinda wish Sony would push themselves to try and bring more games from PS2 era, and bring some PS1, PSP & Vita games.

  5. darrick foster on May 1, 2021 at 2:19 am

It’s not download only anymore, gamepass ultimate now includes xcloud

  6. TheUndertaker575 on May 1, 2021 at 2:19 am

I wish PS Now was available in Australia. I would ideally finish off my backlog, hold off on buying anymore games, then sign up to PS Now and complete all the games I do not currently own that are on the service.

  7. Jag Sidhu on May 1, 2021 at 2:19 am

I would say that the medium on which games are played is different like you’ve said download vs stream; however, they are identical in the fact they are a gaming subscription service and based on they are both gaming subscription services you can draw comparisons. I would simply summarise that the perceived value proposition game pass has over ps now is huge! And Xbox game pass is the superior gaming subscription service on multiple levels. Love your content, you got this one wrong imo. And that’s me saying this as a Ps4 user who doesn’t own an Xbox or pc….so non biased.

  8. JOHTO on May 1, 2021 at 2:19 am

Does anyone actually like owning their games anymore or nah 😂😂😭

  9. William Alicea on May 1, 2021 at 2:20 am

PlayStation now offers all of these PS1 PS2 and PS3 games all bundled together with PlayStation now, and say they have over 700 games. Xbox has been doing backwards compatibility for free

  10. UofM student on May 1, 2021 at 2:21 am

    GamePass is better.

  11. GT0NY on May 1, 2021 at 2:23 am

I am interested in Ps exclusives BUT! I would not appreciate to have an input lag experience at all. That’s why i consider Game Pass is better. It’s ok if you have a streaming service as an option but not as the only way to play.

  12. jerryholbrook13 on May 1, 2021 at 2:26 am

I have both and game pass is way better

  13. gaming for life on May 1, 2021 at 2:26 am

    have a good day

  14. creakwood liege on May 1, 2021 at 2:30 am

Out of 100 mil gamers in ps and only selling 10 mil of an exclusive still not that good tbh

  15. Kelly Pagano on May 1, 2021 at 2:32 am

Still now, streaming games is several years away from truly making sense for the majority of gamers

  16. Antwon Walls on May 1, 2021 at 2:32 am

Game Pass is better PS Now caps the shit at 720p for PS3 games

  17. Jake on May 1, 2021 at 2:35 am

    Gamepass owns PS Now

  18. C - Valer on May 1, 2021 at 2:35 am

Well, Jim Ryan said PS exclusive cost Hundreds of Million to make, so it won’t be profitable to put it on PSnow.

  19. Huzaifa Khambhati on May 1, 2021 at 2:36 am

Sadly India doesn’t have ps now
We don’t even have the PS5, which is $200 more than USA

  20. AL Talks on May 1, 2021 at 2:40 am

Xbox game pass is the best!!!!!!

  21. Taco Fusion on May 1, 2021 at 2:40 am

Even PlayStation fans like myself know Game Pass is a better deal

  22. Joe Fawley on May 1, 2021 at 2:40 am

I’m a physical media guy myself.

  23. Hayden Tamou on May 1, 2021 at 2:42 am

I’ve got enough games that will last me a lifetime. Looking at the lists for gamepass and psnow makes me want to finish the many games I currently own.

  24. Teddy Bagginns on May 1, 2021 at 2:42 am

I have both and I think it depends on what your looking for game pass has more modern and some old games PlayStation now has about 700 games most are good games but from older generations but has some newer ones so it really depends on what your looking for

  25. Jose Arreguin on May 1, 2021 at 2:43 am

Id rather stream instantly than have to install and delete games to be honest

  26. Z Boy on May 1, 2021 at 2:45 am

Why do they both of game passes?

  27. Kasper Fontain on May 1, 2021 at 2:45 am

some of the psnow games have downside they are not able to download some dlc’s on xbox game pass games i could download some dlc’s that i couldn’t on psnow

  28. YED on May 1, 2021 at 2:45 am

    Game pass is beautiful

  29. Chris Nichol on May 1, 2021 at 2:46 am

They just added EA Play in November to Game Pass Ultimate as well, without raising the price at all. And the Microsoft Studio games will NEVER leave Game Pass. That means it will keep all the Gears games, Doom, anything owned by Bethesda, etc. FOREVER.

  30. Mario187 on May 1, 2021 at 2:48 am

Gamepass has both pc games in and outside of Xbox game studios, and they have dlc/gold editions from alot of games. Plus you download the games not stream like that other service.

  31. Jubez 187 on May 1, 2021 at 2:48 am

Got a year of PS Now for 45 bucks. Loving it. I go to my friend’s house and just plug in his Dualshock 4 to his PC and boot up the Sly Cooper collection. I haven’t even gotten into the PS4 downloaded games yet but I’m loving the streaming.

  32. Dirt Farmer on May 1, 2021 at 2:48 am

For PC only Xbox game pass works right.

  33. Steven Paniagua on May 1, 2021 at 2:49 am

XCloud bets is being added for free to the gamepass ultimate

  34. Alex. Dallev on May 1, 2021 at 2:55 am

PS NOW whole year is the best service imo….only bull part the regional restrictions, but it’s easy to pass that with another account. Why SONY still keeps these regions stupid mechanics, it’s beyond me. Make no FK sence

  35. Ninja CatIsland on May 1, 2021 at 2:55 am

Clearly this is a pro playststion clip lol

  36. The HylianSaint on May 1, 2021 at 2:57 am

If sony makes exclusives ps5 games Come day1 on Ps now then I am buying ps5 as my first next Gen console if not Them xbox series X will be my first next gen console

  37. Stephen Khyle Domingo on May 1, 2021 at 2:57 am

They should have ps Vita in ps now?

  38. Claudius Sean John on May 1, 2021 at 2:58 am

I fully agree ! I’m a ps5 fanboy but for me Xbox and the subscription won the war on consoles this time ! And I might switch to the Xbox and ultimate game pass I can play on PC and Xbox that’s actually what I always wanted !

  39. Flamingamer on May 1, 2021 at 3:02 am

For PS2 games on PS4 is Most likely star wars games,And get this the PS2 games on PS4 can operate better then PS3 games.

  40. Wayne Payne98 on May 1, 2021 at 3:02 am

    It stinks!

  41. Mando Yoda on May 1, 2021 at 3:04 am

    ps now is better

  42. Explosive Bomb on May 1, 2021 at 3:05 am

I got both and I’m a PlayStation fan so I’m always biased but game pass is a lot better nearly all of the exclusives are on game pass I really want PlayStation to improve the quality instead of streaming make it download to the hard drive like Xbox

  43. Truth Bringer on May 1, 2021 at 3:06 am

I saport all missing the switch tho but hey I guess to each there own I have payed for ps now I think I bought a 12 month

  44. DreadfullyD on May 1, 2021 at 3:09 am

Im a Hardcore PlayStation user. Mainly because the exclusives are amazing. But Gamepass is years away of PS Now. If Sony wants to compete with game pass, they need to start let the greed aside for a bit and start giving (at least some) AAA games on release date and working on the streaming performance. I never tried streaming but most people have issues even with an average 20mb down connection

  45. Chill_ Weebz on May 1, 2021 at 3:10 am

ps now is finally getting games like Spider-Man

  46. UofM student on May 1, 2021 at 3:10 am

    9:03 @TimDog!

  47. Jamie Potter on May 1, 2021 at 3:12 am

Xbox game pass seems so much better value for money

  48. James Martin on May 1, 2021 at 3:12 am

I’m a PlayStation fan but the ps now service is terrible (in my opinion) I hate how they only give you some games for a certain period of time. Tried the free trial for the ps now and had a lot of connection issues, went to play fallout out new Vegas and there was no dlc. Checked game pass and it has all dlc for fallout and more. I think Sony need to seriously have a look at ps now it’s not as good as it should be 🤷‍♂️

  49. John Davies on May 1, 2021 at 3:13 am

I think it depends what kind of gamer you are. If you are a causal gamer then ps now may be for you, as it has something for everyone. If your more hardcore and you must play the premium titles game pass is probably your preference.

  50. Freesmart on May 1, 2021 at 3:15 am

I rather have barely any games and download them all than have to stream 90% of the games
