I knew Paradise Killer would be on here
Even though they know next to nothing about baseball, ohtani-San is so incredibly good it’s baffling
Thank you!
7 times you thought the boss fight was over / 7 times you avoided exploring a location in a game that was too creepy / 7 times you should’ve started on easy / 7 times you spent in-game currency on the wrong items / 7 times muscle memory failed you / 7 times you free roamed instead of playing the actual game / 7 times you bought the same game more than once because it was on different platforms / 7 times etc. I like your guys’ videos but they’re getting goofy so there’s a couple ideas you can have if you want since the newest one is basically a “7 times you pushed the wrong button on the controller”
Absolutely behind this as a new series; I’ve been missing the _New Games This Month_ series on Outside Xtra, and this could potentially give less-highlighted games a bump as well, regardless of platform. Plus, any combination of y’all just sitting on the couch and chatting about games will _never_ be not fun to watch, so…yes, please!
Extra shout out to _Chinatown Detective Agency_ – I really liked its vibe from the demo I played on Steam (being a sucker for those blocky, intricate, retrofuturistic pieces of technology it’s got plenty of), so I can’t wait to check out the full release.
Knowing that being good at the throwing and the hitting is rare is pretty solid baseball knowledge
"Turns out I’m great at socking dingers." 😂😂😂
I always gotta rep one of my favorites, Crusader King 3. It’s a blast
Yes, do this. I’d like to see more of your impressions on games on game pass. Very much so. Also mention Guardians of the Galaxy and Outer Wilds. I think they still get overlooked despite the attention they have already gotten.
Good video except for the part where Mike talked about Windjammers which I skipped of course
I’m so bad at hitman I tried for a week to get past the tutorial. I have never done it yet. I own a game I can never play.
Deaths Door and The Artful Escape were probably my favorite gamepass games I have played so far this year
Yay this was great!
I would just like to mention that Crusader Kings III is now on consoles (and is still on Game Pass). It’s a more complex game than what you usually cover but the potential for Jane’s brand of chaos and mayhem is stratospherically high.
The paradise killer soundtrack is genuenly a massive vibe. Certified banger after banger.
I luv the concept of this show as there is so much to choose from.
A small suggestion: At the end maybe do a small leaving soon/this month section "grab them while you still can"
often I think like "oh yheh lets sit down and play game X". And then it was removed like a week earlier.
I’m fairly certain there are more classic baseball video games than classic lacrosse video games.
Ahhh it’s dang good to hear Ox use /that music/ again after so long ^^
I feel like I’ve watched a degree-level masterclass in baseball. “He does both the throwing and the hitting.”
Strong vibes of Oxtra’s "Games this month" and also a bit of "Show of the Week" from back in ye olden times in this video for me. Casual couch discussions are always welcome.
Producer Jon playthru of Tunic formal request.
I uninstalled Tunic not because of the Souls-like difficulty, but because that was paired with controls that weren’t up to genre. If you expect me to have precise timing, there have to be precise, hyper-responsive controls.
Was worried about this dropping april first… thought itd be a big joke
I’m always checking GamePass to see what’s there and always end up a little worried that I’m missing some hidden gem. Hopefully this series means I won’t fear that anymore.
"Cyber noir"?
Mike, buddy, the genre is "cyberpunk." It’s a whole genre, not just one property. You can say the word.
One I haven’t heard many people talking about, but have been thoroughly enjoying is "Far: Changing Tides." Lovely chill vibes, clever mechanics, a beautiful world, and loads of environmental storytelling. I haven’t finished it yet, but so far it’s been delightful.
I’m so psyched this will be a new ongoing thing!! This was great!
*EDIT:* these are all excellent recommendations. Since you asked for ours, though…
ANDY, have you seen / tried *WEIRD WEST?!* Former ARKANE devs made a new isometric Immersive Sim, it’s like a Western where you can play as 4 distinct characters over the course of the game, and it’s like Dishonored style powers, werewolves / ghouls / the occult etc., mixed with a Wild West shoot OR stealth RPG, with dialogue choices / decision making that effects how everything reacts to you! Just seemed like your dream, HAUNTED WESTERN RPG, ykno? Just launched on GamePass a few days ago…
Another recommendation is *Guardians of the Galaxy,* which is 10x better than *AVENGERS* _which is also on GamePass lol_ (GotG is not even close to AVENGERS in any way, it has more in common with Mass Effect 2).
SABLE, for the arrestingly gorgeous art style and "no hand holding" freedom, but also the beautiful soundtrack and wonderful gameplay.
Kentucky Route Zero is one I’ve not had time to dive into yet, but it’s legendary among those who’ve played it, it’s like one of those indescribable indie games that has to be experienced— like Undertale, INSIDE, or the Outer Wilds (all of which are on GamePass I believe).
Andy mentioned that "Beyond the Steel Sky" (is that the title?) game briefly, I’ve been very curious about it, but have seen literally no reviews or discussion about it since its actual launch… has anyone played it or heard if it’s good? That one _isn’t_ on GamePass, but it seems like it may end up there. I gotta join that OX Supporter’s Club soon, I installed Discord just for that reason! lol
No Norco? And I don’t see any mention of it in the comments… That game really is getting slept on.
I loved „The Artful Escape”! While it’s a walking simulator, or rather a walking-and-guitar-riffing simulator, it’s got a nice story, gorgeous psychedelic visuals and an absolute smash of a soundtrack. And it’s about a guy who’s somewhat of a Bob Dylan, but secretly wants to be Bowie mixed with the lead singer of The Protomen. 10/10 acid shrooms.
I feel so guilty for not watching that Windjammers video now.
Really like this format!
Also, Windjammers 2 is a gem.
I’ve only played maybe 30 minutes of it, but Weird West seems pretty good so far and seems right up Andy’s alley.
“Death Becames Her?” Nice 90’s pull, Andy
Get all achievements on The Show. Play Road to the Show. Always watch all plays. Watch free chieves. You like free cheese, right?
Terrific
My game pass game recomendation is Marvels Gaurdians of The Galaxy by Deus Ex developer Eidos Montreal.
Its a great game that got overlooked when it came out last year due to it launching in the shadow of regardles of what you think of the game Avengers the launch was a failure. So naturaly people where skeptive of Gaurdians
But Gaurdians is a signleplayer action adventure rpg. Without any online elments and mtxs its story is about overcoming loss and dealing with grief and also having fun Uncharted esque set pices along the way.
The team the petiqular Gaurdians of the Galaxy have to conquer past fears and traumas in order to fight a new threat to the galaxy, a cult called the Universal Church of Truth and its leader Grand Unifer Raker.
If you like Story driven games you should defentley pick it up and if you are a Marvel fan and a fan of the Guardians already you will defentley enjoy this game
A game on Xbox game pass that I recommend playing is The Outer Worlds it was developed by Obsidian Entertainment and had the creators of the Fallout series as the game’s directors, not only does the game play similarly to Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas it has a similar mechanic to V.A.T.S called tactical time dilation I encourage people to consider giving The Outer Worlds a chance.
I love the concept of this type of video. Often I don’t try out games in the gamepass. But when you are showing gameplay and talking about them really wants me to try out some of them. Thanks for the good content!
Paradise killer is the strangest, most bizarre game I’ve ever played and I really enjoyed it
Outside of the big hitters & loads of great indies I haven’t played yet – Art of Rally, Dicey Dungeons, Slay the Spire, Limbo, Lonely Mountains Downhill, Peggle, Sable, Unpacking & What remains of Edith Finch are all amazing that have been on GP for a while.
Please do more of these vids. You and Oxtra. I love getting the honest viewpoints of all of you on all the new games
Good idea, thanks, I appreciate the heads up!
I backed Chinatown Detective Agency on Kickstarter, looks pretty interesting, I think it’s right up Andy’s alley.
Weird West is quickly becoming my favorite game on Game Pass from this year
Wait, there’s a couch? Where’s the gamer chair? WTF?!?!
Sorry Mike. I skipped past the part about the Frisbee game.
some nice choices here, hitman trilogy is one i have been playing on games pass, also tried unpacking on games pass thanks to watching Jane play it on stream
A monthly themed video sounds very good. Im invested
I highly recommend The Nonary Games. It contains two of the best games I ever played and serves as a great introduction to Visual Novels for those that have never tried out the genre. Along with Danganronpa and AI The Somnium Files, people have access to some of the best titles in the genre.
You boys were having too much fun talking about socking dingers. I think Jane may need to impose a limit as to how many dinger socking references are allowed per video. I say Jane because she is clearly the adult in this group.
