@Dan Watson – great video… in your opinion, what are the advantages of using the Synology NAS vs building a custom one yourself, and what was your reason for purchasing it versus a custom one? The specs (1.5ghz celeron, 8gb ddr3 memory, etc) seem pretty limited compared to what you could build for the same price.

The day or week after you purchased a new computer is always the best time to buy a new computer for way less than you spent.

Update, I just finished this build(mostly this exact pc, I just added storage and a bigger cooler). I am switching from Mac for my workflow. The build took me one full day since it was my first build but got through it. The computer is a beast. I am now working to dial in the GPU for Premiere. The motherboard is incredibly expandable. It is overkill for most users but I love it. The processor is awesome. I will give another update once I get the GPU working right.

Just bought a 2070 RTX… instantly returned it after reading the 20 series super cards are just around the corner. Really annoying how fast things are eclipsed nowadays. You buy something a week later you are wracked with regret.

Hi, Your comment on Adobe leverging gpu’s.. what’s is that exactly?.. I recently built a pc, i7 9700 cpu, with a Asus motherboard Z390 E gaming.. my gpu is a nvidia geforce gtx founders edition.. I subscribe to Adobe cc premeire pro.. The video has not worked correctly since.. the video play back is completely shaky/studders and choppy as well as the audio…. if I paly the same video through windows it plays perfectly.. What’s your thoughts on this?

I have got a laptop with i7 3632QM processor and with 12 gb ram , also there is 2 GB geforce 640 lm and here is my dillema. I have an offer to buy desktop with i7 8700 with GTX 1060 with 6 gig of ram . Is it difference between those two computers so significant or remarkable that is good idea to buy this computer with i7 8700 ?? Or it is just marketing and difference is not so big for my kind of creation .This is my dillema . Pls guys let me know somebody what you think and what you recommend . Thanks in advance . Hi Dan. Thx for your video! Gives me great ideas on how to change my proposed system around.

  11. M Help on April 7, 2021 at 1:51 am

Are you still in love with this computer set-up? I’m looking for a new system for Lightroom and CAD programs. Would you make any changes?

  12. Ken Fernandez on April 7, 2021 at 1:51 am

Hi I was wondering if you were making the video on how your workflow is with Lightroom/Photoshop . Like SSD for editing and storing on HDD. I would love to learn cause my setup is getting slower

  13. Dumarsais Coleman on April 7, 2021 at 1:52 am

Would this be considered a decent workstation PC if used for CAD software??

  14. Anwar Shamim on April 7, 2021 at 1:55 am

so many new thing i learn,,, thank you

  15. Bernard Roche on April 7, 2021 at 1:56 am

Looking at this system, how did you get around the motherboard having only one USB 2 port yet two are required one for the cooling and one for the case.

  16. TX-Photog on April 7, 2021 at 1:56 am

Any updates on the RAM? It is discontinued.

  17. Vertebrae 33 on April 7, 2021 at 1:57 am

can you do a step by step assembly of this buildpc &/laptop with an affordable Tether setup with monitor for home studio and on location

  18. Roxana Snedeker // Photog // on April 7, 2021 at 1:59 am

So, if you order all of these, Do you put them together or take them somewhere else? I need to update my PC and really want something custom made but having this done myself is probably out of the question.

Does thunderbolt 3 work out of the box (plug & play)? I have an asus mainboard with an tb3 extension card but i didn’t get it to work properly (and apparently I am not the only one, according to other people on the Internet). It was such a hassle to set up in the UEFI and outdated drivers etc. I am really thinking about getting this board because of TB3 but I’m little sceptic because of the hassle I had with other boards. Thank you for the video!

  22. Andrew Acosta on April 7, 2021 at 2:05 am

I hope you have corrected the air flow in this case and moved your gpu to the top pcie slot for maximum bandwidth .

  26. Greg Wallace on April 7, 2021 at 2:07 am

Why did you choose the i9 instead of the Ryzen 9 3900?

  27. Mimi beauty & lifestyle on April 7, 2021 at 2:08 am

great video, how much for everything? excuse me I’m not a native English speaker.

  32. Paul Emmanuel Kreative on April 7, 2021 at 2:20 am

I was just about to click purchase on all of this from your links but before I do, could you give me an update on how it is all going for you with this build? Any info on how it handles After Effects, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Photoshop, etc. I’m a videographer and photographer as well, need a new set up. This looks great but would like to hear thoughts after a few weeks of use. I am not concerned about gaming, just pro work flow. Thanks in advance for your response and thanks for this video!

  33. Session OnPoint on April 7, 2021 at 2:22 am

so you think even using a lot of After Effects and Premier Pro the 9900K is fine and the i9 9700X is an overkill?

  34. Victor M Morales on April 7, 2021 at 2:22 am

What’s kind of cooler did you used?

  35. Daniel Borisoff on April 7, 2021 at 2:25 am

    What about i7 9700k?

  36. Pokefreak on April 7, 2021 at 2:25 am

This case is really great! The cooling is considered to be not as good as the H700 but I have excellent temps with mine! I also prefer windows for the fact you can customize every single part.

  37. Adventure One on April 7, 2021 at 2:26 am

Great vid. I am a graphic designer and video editor. It is time to replace my 4790k and gtx1060, so I will be doing a very similar build

  38. Allan Walls Photography on April 7, 2021 at 2:27 am

Thanks Dan. This is exactly the information I was looking for. Great video!

  39. Elijah Jakes on April 7, 2021 at 2:27 am

What will be good for a 6k editing GPUs . & does editing mainly rely on the CPU.. my first time building a pc. Don’t wanna overspec my build with unnecessary items ..

  40. Philip Stronge on April 7, 2021 at 2:27 am

Why not run MacOS on it and get the best of both worlds?

  41. Basil Glew-Galloway on April 7, 2021 at 2:31 am

Have you tried Resolve with this build? I’m doing multi track 4k resolve work with Prores and Blackmagic RAW, and looking to go from iMac to PC build.

  42. Victor M Morales on April 7, 2021 at 2:32 am

The new Cpu cooler dark Rock Pro, did you had issues with ram? I mean that cooler is huge, did you had issues with the rams?

  43. ashley pugh on April 7, 2021 at 2:33 am

Just subscribed to your channel after watching the canon t7i video. I’ve had the canon t7i for almost 2 years. I’m going to Hawaii in May and wondering if it will be a good camera to take travel pics or buy one of the sony a6000 cameras??

I used to build PCs when I was in high school (2004) actually the computer I have from back then still blows most things away

  48. Thomas A. Anderson on April 7, 2021 at 2:38 am

!?!?! $1,500 just for Basics (HDD x2, MB, CPU, CASE, PS, Ram, GFX, and Cooling system?!?!
WOW dude, which ultra disconnected reality do you live in?!
In 2019 USA, $1,500 is budget for the monthly rent on a NY apt or a 15 year old used car, not for a 4k PC.
    CLICK BAIT!!!

For a CPU air cooler chek out the Phanteks PH-TC14PE or the Noctua NH-D15
