Is GE Profile's Counter-Depth French Door Refrigerator Any Good? PYE22KYNFS Review
Is GE Profile's Counter-Depth French Door Refrigerator Any Good? PYE22KYNFS Review
The PYE22KYNFS is one of GE’s most popular French door counter-depth refrigerators. In this video, you will learn all the best features of this refrigerator as well as a few problems.
Then we will compare the Profile to some other comparable French door counter-depth refrigerators from Bosch, Samsung and the new Beko. In the end, you will know whether the Profile is right for you.
Like many other new refrigerators, The GE has two evaporators, so the moist, warmer air of the refrigerator doesn’t mix with the colder, drier air of your freezer. Basically, the odors and tastes of the refrigerator don’t end up in your ice cream, so food should taste better
Aside from being reliable GE also has great after market service, and unlike most brands this refrigerator has had great availability all year.
Even though it is a bit pricey at $2849, it has decent features with good size and twin evaporators. GE Profile also has a decent line of other appliances if you are looking to renovate your kitchen.

Minutes ago we purchased a G.E. PYE22KYNFS that will replace a 31 year old G.E. top freezer lower fridge in once fashionable crinkle texture almond. We have space constraints but after receiving reliable use for 31 years . ( By the way it’s working just fine ) decided to go with a G.E. I had the opportunity to view your presentation to see the G.E. rates at 12.1% versus in some cases competition much higher with parts being less available. I appreciate your product knowledge information.
My biggest problem with my Samsung 4 door counter depth refrigerator is not being able to open the doors more. They do not open wide enough to remove the crisper drawers to wash. The drawers hit the gasket making it a real project to get them out to clean. I suspect many French door refrigerators may have similar problems. I am ready to renovate my kitchen and looking at all new appliances, including the fridge which is only 2 years old. I think I have now looked at all the video information you have provided on appliances but would like to see more discussion on what works in day to day usage, or what people hate about their purchase. Any suggestions for a fridge with doors that opens wider for a start? Thanks for all your info!
On other sites, there are complaints about the noise of this unit. Is that a real issue? Has GE changed anything to address that? At this price point, it should run quitely.
hello
I have a similar model as this and the french doors slam shut now – how do I adjust them to close properly. thank you
Your videos have been very helpful in our decision process – thank you! We are not in your market area, but we now have the Beko on order from our local small town dealer here in central WA state. My initial choice was the Bosch as it has two compressors, but I like the technology that Beko offers. The store services what they sell – always a big consideration – as you have pointed out.
Really good information especially since we are looking into switching to counter depth refrigerator in our kitchen renovation
