I’m soo stuck. I told my mom that I was done with violent video games, that they were bad for my health (depression, nightmares etc…) but this game looks really fun and the enemy types, although horrific, look soo good. Should I get it?
Firstly, can we stop calling games of this type RPGs? It’s no more an RPG in the traditional sense of an RPG than Valhiem is. This is an ARPG…plain and simple…and yes, there’s a difference in experience. I bought this solely based on the hype and expectations for the game. And, it was immediately apparent this is a port that wasn’t well executed for the PC. Even after adjusting the settings for KB/M controls, the default settings for these don’t feel right. Be prepared to spend some time mapping keybindings to keys that make sense to bind the action to. Getting deeper, the graphic limitations just locked down the opinion with no Ultrawide display resolutions, no Ray Tracing settings among other things. Finally getting into the game itself, not bad! But all the ‘notes’ from other players placed on actionable items or the like and then meeting the first mob (Yes, I know they can be turned off, but that their On by default is a console trait, not a PC trait…not to mention ‘how’ notes are placed)…I suppose my patience wore out at that point. I requested a refund as it was apparent to me that this would become a game I invest 20 or so hours in and never play any further.

does elden ring have off-line/single player?
I’ve commented before, they always lie about how good games are, but Elden ring speaks for itself. For the first time In a while before you buy doesn’t have to lie. Must feel good
I think it’s really cool that they finally added a better sneak element to the game. You can use bushes and walls for actual cover and lose your enemies or jump out and surprise them. More so than in any other souls game that I’ve played.
I’ve been an armored core player since ps1 (rip) but Ioved how fast paced and tenchuish was Sekiro can’t wait to platinum the next sekiro!
This is the game I’ve been waiting for. Dark Souls with Roach.

Just can’t wait to get my own place with a Xbox x and play dark souls 1 2 3, bloodbourn, sekero, then elden ring. I’ve never played any of those games and I can’t wait to play em all in that order

I tried playing the original Dark Souls once, but I could never really get into it, as even though I understand these games are supposed to be "hard but fair", which I *definitely* appreciate, the *linear* nature of the game world meant that rather than being able to retreat and come back stronger if I was facing a boss I had a hard time beating, like the giant demon you fight on the bridge, I had to bang my head against that wall until I finally broke through it to get stronger, which I simply don’t have the patience for. I also tend to prefer open world games because there’s a huge appeal to being free to explore the world as you see fit rather than being railroaded down a predetermined path.
All that to say, while I haven’t bought it yet, and it’s pretty clear that like most most studios with their recent games, From Software’s decision to make it open world was influenced by Breath of the Wild’s success, I do honestly think Elden Ring will be the game that finally ropes me into the Souls style game.
I beat DS1, couldn’t get myself to touch DS2. And quit Nioh because I just hated it. I am afraid Elden Ring might be a good looking re-skin of the same formula that I do not like.

I hate souls games but I trust his reviews so much I gave it a chance. I am now addicted to this game. This is my GOTY so far.
Hi Jake. I’m sorry I really have to comment. Nothing against the souls formula. Only played Bloodborne and really enjoyed it alot. But as far as the story is told I don’t really get the "not telling the story" part. You said that other games you have to keep pause menu just to see the quests. The soul games, for those that don’t just go to a Vaati lore video, have really to keep pausing the game to read item descriptions. That’s almost the only way to know the lore of the world. Yes, the world building is amazing. The way they leave crumbles throughout the world. But that is for people that stop to smell the flowers. Not everyone is like that. I sure am not.
And also, there was a comment here about From adding a jump and a mount, like they went mad. Truly groundbreaking. Never seen.
As a pc gamer i really wanna buy this game
BUT, unfortunately i’ve learned my lesson from games like cyberpunk 2077 and no man’s sky about overhyping and what it leads to.
AND i’ve also heard that the pc port is still very unfinished. On steam it currently has 28k negative reviews. Yeah…
I hope they fix the pc version so i can actually buy it and have fun.

The PC entry point for this one is steep — don’t even think about ER if you have a potato. And even with a beefy rig, it will still stutter in some areas for unexplained reasons.
