This hits differently when you have a rare disease yourself. I was born with DiGeorge Syndrome and while mine isn’t this extreme, I felt emotionally with every one of these patients.

Life is not fair. It really isn’t.

It is amazing what can be accomplished if people around the world could unite! The girl that was treated in Italy, and the family that found hope for a family in Denmark were uplifting. There is hope for earthlings to survive if we can just get past the hate.

Can’t believe that in your country they don’t understand what a war does to soldiers…and that young guys still want to be used as gun powder…when later you only get so lucky to find out for yourself that your illness is related to those times when your country made you think you are important and send you to some far away country…and a few yes later when you are sick, they couldn’t care less.

  17. S Y on November 11, 2021 at 12:50 pm

Lashay is so fake. She was smiling the whole time, loving the attention. She didn’t get treatment because she wants to be a sPecIAL snowflake who throws up all the time. She is making herself sick and probably actually has an ED. Otherwise why wouldn’t she take the chance to get better? Such an attention seeker.

  18. Lindsey Alexander on November 11, 2021 at 12:50 pm

Season 1 Ep 5…tsk tsk at Dr. Colbey….it’s sickening to hear them talk like our "standards of healthcare" are too hard…especially in severe cases like daily vomiting….and a blood patch? Seriously? How are these people allowed to practice medicine? Terribly idiotic human being. God says….you are no longer allowed to speak for healthcare as a whole…some doctors understand their role as SAVIOR. You sir…do not.

  19. IZaubermausI on November 11, 2021 at 12:50 pm

Sorry – first episode left me very confused… Isn‘t CPT-2 not known in the US?
Why didn‘t the doctors in the US test metabolic diseases???
And why does the young woman didn‘t try a diet with low fat and many carbs? It could have helped with the diagnosis before getting the result from the genetic testing. And a lot of people guessed before that it could be COT-2….. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Sorry – a lot of things are not logical!!!

  20. minimal miss on November 11, 2021 at 12:50 pm

It really highlight the importance of getting universal healthcare coverage in America. The episodes that I have seen, its sad how the families have to go into debt.

  21. skarlita19 on November 11, 2021 at 12:51 pm

I am amazed on how negligent, careless, inhumane is USA medicine… 9 years and not finding the diagnose? Crazy !!! Cuba, Mexico and lots of "third" world countries healthcare is FREE… and in USA is unaffordable… so sad for americans and people that live here… like me hehe… that is why We do medical tourism to Mexico… and healthcare there is SO GOOD, doctors really, truly care about their patients and look for answers. I even have their cell phones to tell them any medical doubt… is a HUGE difference.

  22. Awesome Keys on November 11, 2021 at 12:52 pm

the first story at the end is so annoying that even people online has called several times it is CPT2, how can no doctor in the entire America has no diagnosis for her? And it has to led the Italy doctors to do their job? feels like a fake story….poor girl has to suffer 10 years while she can simply manage her diet and control the pain.

  25. Laurie Erickson on November 11, 2021 at 12:57 pm

Y’all should check out episode 5. That mother says "me, my, or I" OVER AND OVER AND OVER. As if it’s HER going through the illness. It’s NOT. THEN the mother ALLOWS her child to CONTINUE being extremely ill while THE MOTHER hesitates for treatment. The daughter is following her mother’s lead because she’s a child and doesn’t know any better and by the looks of it has no choice BUT to make sure the mother is calling ALL THE (WRONG) SHOTS!!!! WTF! SHE SHOULD B SLAPPED! WHAT IS WRONG WITH HER?!?!? She can’t let go of her control and she can see that it’s NOT HER THATS BEING CONSTANTLY ILL it’s stupid ass ppl like that, that make me want to grab her by her f*****g head and TRY to drill a LITTLE common sense and REMOVE all the selfishness and the "me me me " perspective she has. She’s ALLOWING her child to remain very sick. Outrageous. Sorry don’t mean to offend anyone EXCEPT THAT STUPID ASS MOTHER!!!!!!

Bro I watched the episode about the mexican guy who is losing his memory (3rd ep I think) and I was like, jesus christ pro war people can go to hell

  27. Gina Jade on November 11, 2021 at 1:01 pm

Angel (first ep), I’m sorry your dad is a complete c**t! To be so arrogant about grandchildren and to ask the question "Do you know how frustrating this is for us?!" Are you kidding?! Shows no empathy or consideration in the circumstances. I kept hoping her Mum would step in and say something but it seems to me shes given up due to the backlash and abuse she probably receives from such a repulsive husband. I can only hope Angel and her family have found some happiness and some type of closer. If I had grandchildren, I’d make sure to keep distance from such negativity.

  28. xo on November 11, 2021 at 1:01 pm

An excellent series! If you’re in the medical field you’ll absolutely love this! Can’t believe there is only 1 season. Most medical shows makes you think "wow I’m glad I don’t have that disease" but this show this shows the courage and kindness that goes with dealing it and a ray of hope. Beautifully edited too. Great job to everyone involved.

PS. I literally cried watching episode 5

The dad of the girl with the pain condition is an asshole. Since the moment I saw him blaming the wife for her daughter condition i knew he was trouble

  34. Michael Ryan on November 11, 2021 at 1:09 pm

I found the episode with Lashay so irritating. After she was diagnosed with rumination why did she not do the therapy. Why was the Mom so involved. Such a frustrating episode, I wanted her to get better and she wanted to solve it on her own. I guess it being labelled as psychosomatic initially even though it wasn’t made the diagnosis difficult to accept. Maybe they thought it was a sign of weakness (Mom and Lashay).

So who wants to diagnosis Angel’s dad as being a borderline/cluster B. I got to say borderlines and cluster B’s are never boring on vacation. Sorry Angel. Here is another sucky diagnosis for you.

  37. Brittany Kerker on November 11, 2021 at 1:12 pm

The girl with the eating disorder made me so angry. Her, and her mother especially, just wanted the attention and stole air time from somebody with a real, life-threatening mystery diagnosis. I don’t even think it was a question of denial, it was all about keeping her undiagnosed so she could continue treatments. It is classic Munchausen syndrome and should have been diagnosed correctly.

  38. C G on November 11, 2021 at 1:12 pm

This show highlights what is wrong with the US healthcare system. Furthermore, a sad part some patient’s problems is the dysfunctional family of origin. I suspect this exacerbates the existing medical problem even when it is a physical problem, since mind and body/health are strongly connected. The father in S1E1 is particularly horrible. If he felt free to behave that way on camera, think how bad he must be behind the scenes. And the mother in S1E5 is even worse. S1E6 at least addresses the psychological component. In E5, the family was extremely defensive so the young lady did not get the behavioral therapy she needed. On the other hand, the mother in S1E4 is a hero.

  43. Alexander Wolf on November 11, 2021 at 1:23 pm

The first episode is riveting, but I can’t believe how terrible angel’s parents are with their attitudes towards her. She is such a trooper with incredible strength to go about her day to day, especially considering how unhelpful and rude her parents are about her search for answers. Insufferable indeed!
