The target market is people who do jobs and get transferred frequently. I bought an approx 2000$ laptop with 2060 just because it would be inconvenient for me to move a desktop with me.

Are you Scottish? Also I’d rather get a thin and light gaming laptop over a desktop replacement since I value portability over pure performance

I am really interested in this laptop because I think buying its base model and upgrading down the line will help me keep the expenses a bit on the lower side. The good thing about desktop replacement pc are that they are upgradeable and can be a bit more good for future upgrades rather than buying a new laptop instead..

I’ve been in the market for one of these for both gaming and workstation performance. Even the newest laptop CPU’s lag behind desktop CPUs in workstation capabilities. My main thing is I’d like to be able to game or use adobe premier out somewhere without carrying a monitor and keyboard. Your point about itx desktop builds is valid though. Way cheaper but can’t carry the monitor around everywhere

I have the 4k model with 10th gen i9 cpu coming this Monday. I’ll be using it mostly for heavy video editing and a little gaming.

Wow, that is some decent heat pipes inside!

I think it’s obvious that a machine like this, (lets not forget the weight of this beast) is in most cases a necessity. Ofcourse i’d rather walk around with an ipad. But i need mobile performance.

Why a gaming desktop replacement instead of a gaming PC? Think space.
In my house we have a dedicated home PC area, but we have three people needing that space. My wife and I both have company laptops and when in comes to it work and other generic home online activities are more important than gaming. So I have a gaming desktop replacement laptop I can take out and use anywhere in the house when I feel the need, and then put it away again afterwards.

Right now with the COVID19 isolation I bet there are thousands who wish they also had one too.

5:32 my house is still fighting a minor bug infestation. I can’t just toss a custom pc into a case, to keep it safe, but that’s child’s play for a laptop. And speaking of children, having children in the house (reckless nephew) , is dangerous for a pc set up, (again, nothing I have to worry about with a lap top)
Also I prefer to use my laptop in my car, idk why… it’s just a thing at this point.
A custom pc desktop is superior, but for my case, I’d rather keep my gaming (and work) station as far away from carnage, as I can. And I’d pay more to do it, maybe not 4.5k but something like 2.5k

Good to see someone that says if the laptop is crap or not. Can’t beat a desktop pc. But if on the go there better laptops out there for the price

  17. Diuran on April 16, 2021 at 3:07 am

that many heat pipes should cooling a 6core and maximum 1660ti that’s max to have a performance and gaming without mini very loud tornado.

Wouldn’t consider a laptop once you get to this "desktop replacement" level. In my opinion, that defeats the purpose of a laptop. Not to mention that premium that you pay to get these components in this form factor is huge. I would buy a Pre–Built with a 9900K and 2080 or I would actually build my own PC with a 9900K (or KS) and RTX 2080 (or 2080 Super) along with 64 GB of Ram myself. I do recognize a lot of people don’t wanna build but I would buy a Pre-Built with these specs before I would buy a Desktop Replacement laptop.

You’re not wrong about the price, like barely 2k gets you a 2080 build. It’s the mobility. Can take that 2080 in a backpack and play anywhere. Vs a 60lb desktop. I got tired pretty quick of sitting at the same desk in my room even in my Omega gaming chair. The 240hz 1080 sells at xotic PC base model 3500
