Can Tablets Replace Laptops? – I Tried for 7 Days

Is it possible to replace your laptop with a tablet? After one week of doing this, I can say this was not what I expected.

ADDITIONAL REVIEW NOTES:
Tablets have come a really long way, and with more powerful chips and new features, the line between laptop and tablet is really starting to blurr. You can now buy laptops with removable keyboards and tablets with added keyboards, so are these interchangeable? For the past 7 days, I replaced my

Productivity
Signing documents
Quieter
My Files SUCKS!
Dex allows you to open multiple windows at once – Split screen is possible
Hotkeys work
USB things work
Small keyboard is limiting
Trackpad is weak
Apps are not optimized, and some are unavailable
Main everyday apps like internet browser, Microsoft, Google, and Samsung are fine
Very few ports = dongle is necessary
Powered peripheral devices will work
Overall very fast for basic everyday tasks
Travel
Perfect for an airplane seat tray
GPS is nice to have – this can be a car nav system
Casual use
Touch gestures similar to phone – Nice!
Nearby share (in case you felt left out from airdrop with Macs)
Plenty of storage
Can’t really use chrome extensions
Samsung internet works better anyway
detachable keyboard is great
vibrations for notifications

CONCLUSION
This can comfortably replace a chromebook
Great for most people looking to watch media, browse the web, and do basic document/spreadsheet processing
Not great for power users looking for specific programs
I struggled because there was no Adobe Premiere Pro

I’m kinda using my Graphic tablet on my laptop during my paper works espicially if my boss who is an engineer told me some task on photoshops and drawings.
I kinda like the feeling that I can use my pen on as a substitute mouse. I’d like those tablets to have to same pen buttons capability on Huion or Wacom be replicated when copy and pasting things on Samsung tablet just like my experience on my laptop.I just don’t like the feeling of using external mouse on tablets, only for laptops.

A Huawei Matebook X (not X Pro) has a high DPI 13" display and weights only 1kg, no tablet can beat that for productivity

  3. Don Basta on November 11, 2021 at 11:09 am

Your findings and comments are right along with what I have experienced although I haven’t attempted to replace my laptop with a tablet. I own and use both.

As long as there’s no multi window support available on Android/ChromeOS (e.g. two chrome or two Evernote windows) and no universal clipboard (e.g. copying a picture from chrome to Evernote) I cannot ditch my PC

Tablets suck!! Android can’t do what I need it for. Good thing it was free. Otherwise I wouldn’t waste my money on it.

Why is every Youtuber trying to show stylus by signing digitally ? Honestly, I’ve haven’t signed a single digital document in my life. And I own many businesses, mostly online !

  18. Bryan Edition TV on November 11, 2021 at 11:22 am

You can do windows remote desktop on the tablet, you could have the workhorse at home and do everything remotely on the tablet

  19. Faris Hanafiah on November 11, 2021 at 11:23 am

In short, it depends on personal workflow. If you only do office work and mobile gaming, this is a great setup. But if you do AAA gaming and use AAA softwares, stick to Windows or macOS. They are still a better choice all day round.

  20. Marroco on November 11, 2021 at 11:26 am

No, no tablet is capable of being equivalent to a gaming laptop

Pal you are an idiot or are are deliberately playing silly bugger… What laptop you are comparing with the tablet??? If I’ve missed it – I apologise…Then lack of of ports… what about Apple MacBook pro which requires USB C hub to make it useable? And some other Win based followers of the bad example of the rotten apple? Then about keyboard and trackpad size….. what you were expecting from Sam S7 11 inch tablet with keyboard cover???? huge trackpad and full size keyboard experience? I have 17.3 inch Alienware Area-51m R2 Gaming Laptop and now I will compare it with my Sam S7+…. and populate this BS on youtube…. very helpful!

  27. matthew s on November 11, 2021 at 11:34 am

there are lots of FILES and FILLING android apps

Windows 11,, will have the ability to run "android" apps

  28. Nick Shulyak on November 11, 2021 at 11:35 am

And where is your S-pen experience? ooo – you did not know all gestures you can have with it……… so no sharing of your poor experience with S-pen…. but you are sitting firm on that super laptop is better than tablet… without S-pen and AMOLED screen on S7+…… very NOT clever if you are trying to compare it with 6-7 lbs laptop!

  29. gin martha on November 11, 2021 at 11:36 am

Im using it for study. But i got a problem, the word and google docs are not as complex as in laptop, it cant make table of content, no? Do you know some ways to make it from tablette? Im doing my thesis and i dont have laptop, im clueless now😞

  30. 可爱的 on November 11, 2021 at 11:39 am

Samsung s7, s7 FE and s7+ can really replace a laptop, but as a computer science student, it can’t replace my laptop since we’re more into coding and apps for coding is limited on android, and majority are lacking of some features.

edit: Watching this on my Samsung s7 FE 🙂

  31. SRAli on November 11, 2021 at 11:40 am

answer to the question yes, tablets are getting more powerful and dynamic each year so yes it will replace it chips and mother board etc.. are getting small etc… air flow is getting efficient etc… so defo yes i mean my tab s7 plus i do all the shit i would do on my dell xps 13 2018 edition

  32. JTD on November 11, 2021 at 11:42 am

  33. kiLLjoy24CALI on November 11, 2021 at 11:43 am

My Lenova yoga would drain 60-70% within about 4-5 hours of use. My S7+ only drains 30-40%

  34. Jason MB999 on November 11, 2021 at 11:43 am

just so you know, you don’t have to be on samsung deks to open multiple windows. i do it in tablet mode also.

  35. Marylandcowboy on November 11, 2021 at 11:45 am

I have the iwork20 windows 10 tablet and I love it. SD reader many ports. Keyboard pen. Not lighting fast but it suits me. And at $300 you can’t beat it.

  36. Michain Lu on November 11, 2021 at 11:45 am

  42. Timothy Dingman on November 11, 2021 at 11:51 am

Almost. My 17 inch ASUS TUFF with 500 gig of SSD memory, a Rizen 7 cpu and 32 gig of ram will not be replaced by my Samson 15 inch Chromebook but I wouldn’t give it up

  43. Sadu Sadu on November 11, 2021 at 11:52 am

I have today take the alldocube gt book. For this price, unpossible for tablet.
For me need it 2 year more for a good performance, before I use only a tablet with double boot . For windows and android.

What about college use when you have to send word documents to your professor so he can grade them and make notes on the stuff you write and send it back to your tablet with the notes visible?

  46. Thomas on November 11, 2021 at 11:54 am

Lol I’ve had an iPad Pro as a laptop for like 4 months. It’s not that hard unless you definitely NEED this or that program in particular

  47. Yash Shah on November 11, 2021 at 11:55 am

If you use the laptop for ms office dont go for this…it will be a big disappointment

  48. Luke Knox on November 11, 2021 at 11:55 am

Dongle Book Pro is nice 😂

  49. MrExplicit1 on November 11, 2021 at 11:55 am

I replace my laptop with the M1 11 inch Ipad pro with no regret. If it had better files management the Ipad would be a perfect laptop replacement for most people.

  50. Bala Krishna on November 11, 2021 at 11:59 am

"Android is not really meant to be used to move files around" Lol wut? Just coz you didn’t like Samsung’s mediocre Files app? Unlike ipad, you know you can download other file manager apps right? Android always has comprehensive file management support, pretty much equally powerful as Windows or Mac File systems. On the other hand, ipad didn’t even allow file management until 2019 and even now its restrictive… limiting my ipad to a glorified video watching device in practice.
The fact that you make tech videos and didn’t even know this actually, to me, adds a new perspective to your opinions in your videos. I’m surprised.
