CPU:
Save money: https://geni.us/ydF9Cf [Ryzen 3800x]
Mine: https://geni.us/g3yqmcY [Ryzen 3900x]
Beast: https://geni.us/JBNcvnT [Ryzen 3950x]
COOLER:
https://geni.us/zBsJTLx [Noctua NH-U15 Chroma.max]
[not 100% necessary]
or the Brown version: https://geni.us/Y7ZR
MOTHERBOARD:
https://geni.us/YxFmf8 [MSI x570 Prestige Creation]
if the MSI mobo is unavailable, try Gigabyte X570 Aorus Xtreme https://geni.us/Em6fw5
or Asrock x570 creator with similar specs: https://geni.us/CswAC
(although the Asrock would need a different PSU since CPU power connection is different)
or cheaper alternative: https://geni.us/TcoZeT
PSU:
https://geni.us/rm750 [Corsair Rm750]
you can get the Corsair RM650 but you’ll be saving almost nothing. I’d go with the RM750.
or future proof: https://geni.us/UsRJbg0
alternatives if RM750 not available:
1. EVGA https://geni.us/GE6Al
2. Corsair https://geni.us/XC16
RAM:
https://geni.us/yHBbt6 (it’s possible to buy 2x these and get 128GB of RAM if wanted to coz the motherboard has 4 slots, but we’re only occupying 2). [Corsair Vengence 2x 32GB 3200MHz]
or cheaper alternative: https://geni.us/skeJktW
SSD
(super fast): https://geni.us/pyt3f [Sabrent Rocket]
or cheaper alternative: https://geni.us/GPHJiC
GPU:
cheaper alternative: https://geni.us/5AGhun5 (for US, I recommend the Zodac since it’s cheaper but same specs, you’ll find it on the link.)
mine: https://geni.us/FYxIpZ [Gigabyte 2060 super 8GB]
Beast for 8k editing: https://geni.us/v3O8
CASE: https://geni.us/c7GYzTd [Corsair Carbide 678c]
alternative cases: https://geni.us/duDoZi
when looking for alternative cases, make sure it fits E-Atx motherboards and the cooler clearance is at least 165mm.

What are the cases which support Noctua NH-D15 air cooler?
The motherboard is over £800 now… lol
I love your 21 version best bang of buck . But for your personal aspet . This or the 2021 ver? Thx for sharing your knowledge !
👍
good build excluding the lack of ecc. Good for video, not so great for modelling etc.
Should i build in h710 on a 2000 dollars budget, how is the noise if someone knows, please tell me.
@Tech Notice Should this kind of PC also be good/strong enough for streaming+recording too? If not, what should be the best mid range (1500-2000USD) PC for editing and streaming/recording? Thanks.
AMAZING Video!!!!!! I’m a Mac user since 2007. However, I started to think to build a Home Server / Render. Because I’m not using PC for years, your video will help me a lot of what to buy to make my Home Server / Render. Really thank you man!!!!
$400 processor is not a best bang for buck system.
I built my entire video editing rig for under $200.
The secret is buing used, and to buy all the guts at once if you can from someone upgrading their gaming rig.
Then, you put it in your own reused case, reusing your own power supply, harddrive… and then buy whatever more ram you need to absolutely max out the system.
Monitors you can get from Goodwill for $10 / piece, and keyboards and mice for a few more bucks if you don’t already have them.
So I want to say, your build was a FAIL for best bang for buck. For bang for buck, mine wins, though yous is more powerful… mine has the most bang for buck.
Would you know anything about building a computer for CAM software? (computer aided machining) Gibbscam in specific? thanks
This was the video that made me SUB #SALUTE
You lost me when you said, if your water cooling pump goes out it will damage your CPU. Any modern CPU will thermal throttle and then shout down before it will damage itself from heat. But yes a good air CPU cooler is more reliable than an AIO or custom water cooling. Custom water cooing is nice to look at, but I would never use it on a video editing rig. The AIOs I use have software that can monitor the pump, so I would know if it went out.
I just prefer the look of a good AIO over the bigger air CPU coolers. I have plenty of spare parts lying around, so if my AIO went out, I could just slap an air cooler on it until I could get an AIO replacement.
thank u sir! great info and well made!
Or just get a mac mini …
Loved your video.. you actually kept my attention all thru n I felt like I was talking to a computer whisperer 😆😆😆. Good job
How much was it in all?
Hey man awesome video. great help! the GPU is not in stock anywhere i believe its not being made anymore. do you have another link for an alternative please? im looking for an alternative to match the one you have. thanks a lot
Is this still the best today in 2021?
Does this build support the new AMD 5950x proccesor?
Always enjoy your videos. I was about to purchase the components for a new 4K editing box using the RTX 2070 but as you know those are unavailable or double the price. If I were to build the computer and use a very cheap GPU for now (until GPUs come back to earth) do you have a suggestion? I could edit using proxies for now. Thanks
So did I miss it or did you forget to tell us how much your build cost?
Thank you for the indepth video.
Also, how about explaining the difference between using a professional GPU (Quadro) vs a Gaming card (RTX), especially for workstation use.
How efficient is a build like this for 3D animation? I use iClone, Daz 3D studio, Unreal and Blender. I need a PC to render animation in Nvidia IRAY as quickly as possible. What would you recommend?
I want a cad workstation pc build!
Would i go for 3900x or i710700k???
Thanks a milion for this video. I’m about to build my first PC mainly for photo editing and I’ve found a lot of valuable knowledge. Keep up the great work.
"didn’t want my pc to look like a christmas tree"…thank you, can I sub again?
Imagine the same set up but with an AMD Threadripper 3990x 👉 it’s a 64-core CPU 😎
Great video, I couldn’t find the total price of this, how much did it cost you in total if you don’t mind me asking.
Hello mate, great video! How’s this build for Nuke, After Effects & C4d (or other 3D applications)
And what’s the total cost to build this pls
Will this build be sufficient for handling 3-4 hour timelines? With the 3900 x and 2060
Or would i benefit from the 3950x and 2070.?
How much does it cost to build the lowest and highest spec in this video ?
I built a similar computer with the 12 core ryzen. But when rendering in premiere pro the cpu utilization is around 8% suggesting only one core is used. The GPU seems to be used for the encoding….
One of the best videos on the topic I have seen. Very comprehensive and helpful. Thank you.
Would you still recommend this in 2021?
Hey man, thanks for the content and for your channel! Keep up the good work.
I just bought a PC with Ryzen 9 3900X, RTX 2060 super and 16GB ram 3000. When I apply a LUT on top of Sony a6400 Full HD footage it drops a lot of frames. CPU usage is about 5% and gpu 3%. Is it normal? I am using Leeming LUT and recording using HLG profile
Thanks for sharing your PC build! I absolutely love it!! If I’m editing my videos off a G-Raid with thunderbolt 3 cable, what kind of alternative I can get for my motherboard?
Was really tensed on building my first pc, ordered some parts online and others offline.
For a banger 400$ system.
This price is after all the taxes my nation imposes.
Specs: r3 3200g
4gb x 2 ddr4 2666mhz ram
250gb ssd
Old 320gb hd
Gigabyte p450b psu( way better looking than actual photos)
Ant esports 120Ag case.
Building it was fairly easy and straightforward. I could even understand which screws were for which holes.
During the build process i clearly understood why you stressed having a branded case. My case had very tight mob stand-offs, softer metal( had a slight bend), no gromets for clean wiring.
I should have spent 15$ more and got myself a basic Corsair.
And some additional fund was spilled for speakers, mouse, monitor etc..
I really appreciate that you are educating audience based on pure experience and not from reading spec sheets.
I will be upgrading to a better case, gpu , cpu and more ram/storage hopefully in the future.
Agree on air cooling. You will never know when it’s broken (AIO). I experienced it myself and made my cpu socket broken (ram cannot be detected). The RMA and downtime is not worth it 😑😑 I will never go back AIO
Total cost of the build?
after hours of search i finally found your video – cause i am looking for a proper workstation pc case… it really disturbs me that most cases nowadays are only made for gamers who like to show of there rgp… so few cases with enough space for drives
@6:37 had me fooled there…
Please make the video like this again in every some months, I mean this video is very useful, the price, the performance, etc. Thanks!!!
Great Vid . This could work for music editing too right ?
(With an external sound card)
Great video with options for everyone regarding budget, needs and programmes – also reallu can’t work out that accent 😂😂
good. tnx
What’s more important, more ram or less cas latency ram lower frequency?
I was looking to build a workstation for 4K editing, I was wondering if this pc build would be worth the money.
I watched your other video called "🔴100%⚫ STEP-BY-STEP Ryzen Workstation Build Guide | How to build a budget 6k video editing PC?"
And went out and bought the same parts and built it with the help of your video.
But then I returned all the parts, because I felt it wasn’t powerful enough to handle what I needed to get done.
I’m planning on getting the Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K, and film it in Blackmagic RAW.
It will be a 3 hour film with some SFX, and using DaVinci Resolve 17 for the editing
My budget for the whole film is $7,000

For someone like me that spends most of my time just on the art and not fully understanding the tech behind that supports it, this helps so much.. Thank you for the down to earth breakdown!!
I dont see any other pc build other than this specific for workstation, what would u recommend for 800£ pc build using spreadsheet and excel also gaming like genshin impact on 1080p or 1440p?
