Appliances People Avoid
There are tons of appliances on the market, but there are a few in particular people tend to avoid, not because they’re mistakes, but because they’re unnecessary.
You can read a post called 10 Kitchen Renovation Mistakes where you can learn about bad ideas and products you should not buy.
Many products on this list are flagship, highly marketed products boosted by multimillion dollar advertising campaigns, but people don’t buy them because there are better often cheaper alternatives.
In this article, you will learn about products and categories of products people don’t buy and the reasons behind it. You will also learn about different options that may be better.
The appliances and categories we will discuss today are the Samsung Family Hub, Samsung Flex Duo Ranges, Large Laundry Machines, LG SideKick, Miele Rotary Iron, Gas Wall Ovens, Warming Drawers, Trash Compactors, Indoor Grills on Pro Ranges, Outdoor Dishwashers, and Outdoor Beer Taps.
At the end, we will provide a link to our Appliance Buyers Guide with over 60 pages of what appliance, brands, and products you should consider for your new kitchen.
Note: Samsung and LG show up prominently on this list, yet they are the fastest growing brands. They are also the most innovative. Their few misses pale in comparison to their many successful products.

surprisingly insightful and useful video ! more like this please !
Nice video
Very useful info. thank you
Brilliant. Tongue in cheek, but incredibly astute also.
Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t know why anyone would want internet on their appliances.
I do more roasting than baking. I would love a gas wall oven.
I have a Jenn-air gas top and electric stove combined for years. Love it!
Outside dishwasher?!? Wow, talk about a first world product.
Can you elaborate on when the new Wolf Dual Fuel 48inch range is being released?
Wow! I learned a lot here!! Thnx for the info!! Very informative! Who buys a dishwasher for outside anyway?
I like your no bullshit review
Gas ovens are a safety hazard! (Boom!) In the coming years they’ll be illegal.
Do you sell Samsung appliance there?
We have two warming drawers. One to actually keep food warm and the second, we store plates and warm them prior to serving. Nothing worse than putting hot food on a cold plate.
Our new house had a garbage compactor, we replaced it with a beverage cooler.
Our condo came with a trash compactor and we loved it so much that we replaced it after 17 years of service. It is along walk to the dumpster and we can go up to two weeks before emptying. We’ve enjoyed it now for thirty years. The recycle bin is near the car park area, so no problem. A compactor may not be good for everyone, but in certain applications it’s well appreciated.
That was really informative. I’m about to invest in an outdoor kitchen and was going to install a dishwasher. Thank you for saving me the money.
I have the large capacity washer/dryer and I love them! I never need to go to the laundromat to wash my bedding and I can get a lot of laundry done at one time, which is great when you have a large family.
I planned an entire kitchen around the duo oven last year!
I disagree with the LG 5.8 cu ft & Samsung double oven. People nowadays look more fof capacity than technology with LG you will get both we are moving into the digital world
