There is a lot you have to consider when you buy a VR ready laptop or PC – more than with regular gaming. Not only are the recommended specs for software important, but also for the VR headsets, and even things like available USB bandwidth (especially for Oculus Quest owners).
And some laptops only have HDMI ports while many new headsets don’t support that anymore, not even with an adapter. But after this video, I hope to give you all the info you need to buy a VR-ready laptop, or you could use this info for a PC too. But even if you already have one, you may want to check it out for some tips.
Let us know what you think of this laptop and whether you’re going to buy a VR laptop or PC!

The non-Max-Q versions are considered “desktop” GPUs, but some laptops (including some from ASUS) do have them. So if you have the option to get the non-Max-Q version, that would be the better option. Thanks to FuriousFur for pointing this out!

VR on! – Cas and Chary VR
Love this vid, very helpful, used your link and ordered that laptop, thanks heeps!!!! 🙂
Does anyone have any experiences with msi gp66 leopard 10ug with vr usage?
Do you think a Razer blade 15 (2021 version) can run pcvr games and pc games
Ik this is a month ago but do you have any other vr ready laptop that you recamed
does the brand of the laptop matter? because alot of them are diffrent but they have the same specs
Hi thanks for the vid, i dig your accent, I was wondering will my msi gl75 1660ti 10th gen i7 with 16gb ram i just ordered be able to handle VR on a oculus rift s pretty decently? i know its compatible but will it be "decent". Thanks again. Edit: at 4:44 i noticed the 1660ti was not included in that list, was there a reason for that?
What do you recommend for laptop specs for a valve index?
That seems pretty high end, is there a budget option for VR headsets like the first Quest?
I wouldn’t buy an intel laptop right now if I were you
❤️❤️❤️
Getting an oculus Quest 2 for Christmas!! So excited
Get desktop for vr dont be a idiot. Your laptop will be old news quickly. You can keep up with the times with desktop and save a ton of money.
Laptop recommendation 2020 : wait for the 5000 series AMD ones with high end nVidia cards, coming out in a few months. Intel is standing still, which is the same as going backwards in a fast moving world.
Oh my god I didn’t know Chary works for Coolblue!
I know I’m late, and I know Intel’s the sponsor and all, but save yourself a couple hundred bucks and get a lot of extra performance (plus better battery life, cooling, etc in a laptop especially) by getting an AMD cpu.
There’s absolutely no reason to buy an Intel CPU in 2020, none
Not knowing AMD is definitely not a valid argument either. Just Google it and look at the review.
Is 1650 maxq better than 1070?
Can laptops handle vr with fullbody
I love this channel! So much helpful and in depth information you give which most youtubers ignore.
I had no idea usb type c could be 2.0 as well and as you can guess I purchased a type c usb 2.0 for my quest and it sux so bad ;-; I learned my lesson and ordered a 3.1 Gen 2 cable the next day hope it’ll give better quality cause with 2.0 its so down scaled and blury 🙁
Hello i wanted to ask if i can play VR on an asus rog strix g15 g512lv version.
Also when owing a Laptop please turn off your computer after use. You’re actually wasting battery life when your don’t shut it down
You forgot rtx 2060 and the rtx 2060 super. They are both vr capable
I am looking for a laptop that’s good for roblox and for vr head set, thank you for this video! I’ll watch it tomorrow because it’s almost 1 in the morning and i’m trying to find a cheap laptop since I think my pc is about to explode by how old it is 😅
So when do the laptop raffles start coming out? 👀
Is there any recommendations for a good laptop for around $1000 that i can be satisfied with?
really great video, Cas. I’ve been thinking of this for about a week. 🙂

Exactly what I needed, thanks! Going to build myself a VR ITX PC but still considering a laptop…
Thank you for the Great Value ! : )
No way I just started looking for a vr ready laptop! TYSM
My high end GTX1070 back in 2017 is now a low end GPU haha. "Checked Medal of Honor VR min req… 2080.. cries in corner" xD
Thanks for this video, after watching VR and gaming laptop videos for two days, this video is the first I have seen to clearly detail Oculus Quest 1/2 Link specific port and specs info for laptops. There are videos for gaming laptops some that loosely touch on the Quest link, but they only seem to mention a requirement for USB-C and we know from gaming desktops, not every USB-C port necessarily works with Oculus fibre link cable, I know USB3 can be used in some cases with the correct cable, but to get this wrong purchasing a gaming laptop could be a really expensive mistake, so thanks for your help.
Is Lenovo y740 vr ready for valve index?
i like ur accent!
Hi I have a HP stream 11. Is it vr ready?
What FPS are you getting with half life Alyx ?
thank u thank u thank u for the detailed closed-captions ❤️
Bless this channel 🙏
is an ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 VR ready laptop?
for a quest 2 you’ll need a desktop 3080 or higher for a proper experiance at max res it seems 😐
This helped so much thank you
How come we barely see Chary?
What’s a spect or spec-?? I am only 12 looking for a better laptop for my oculus quest 2 to play roblox on it so I have no idea what I’m looking for-
What about GTX 1080ti, wouldn’t that have great experience too?
I got the new Asus zephyrs G15, it has type-c not thunder bolt. My Valve index wont work. Im using a type-c to displayport. Do I need usb-a to displayport. It has a AMD cpu does it need an Intel to run VR?
Cas is doing indirectly a promotional video disguising it as a laptop VR video
How would you feel about a laptop 2060? I also have 16 gb of ram and a 9750h?
Will the asus tut FX505DT work?
This video is EXACTLY what I needed so thank you!
Thanks for the video! I don’t know if you folks do VR benchmarks but the community could really use it imo!
