How do the Dutch see themselves in the European Union? This question emerged as one of the top issues in the election campaign, especially after Brexit.
The Netherlands lost an ally, Great Britain, with whom they maintain close cultural ties and whose views on trade and foreign policy the country largely shares.
By the way, you should stay tuned until the end if you don’t want to miss anything interesting.
And if you don’t want to miss anything at all, just subscribe to my channel and click the little bell.

Brexit happened on January 31st 2020 when the United Kingdom formally left the institutions of the European Union. And I give you some outside views on it.

    Good man, nice words.
I think EU should push harder. EU passports, i.d. cards, drivers licence etc. I have to show my portuguese passport for some things in Germany, it’s ridiculous.

  2. Geert Huitema on March 20, 2021 at 2:29 am

The Netherlands wil NEVER leave the EU. And the people who are thinking we are ? Are right wing fools.

  3. Daniel Wood on March 20, 2021 at 2:31 am

Greetings from the Netherlands. Brexit is really stupid. Being a member of the EU brings massive benefits. 🤷🏻

  4. iedco4 on March 20, 2021 at 2:31 am

Thank You Brexit ! Love From Ireland 🇮🇪

  5. Norman Bott on March 20, 2021 at 2:31 am

Sadly very few people I have talked to seem to have any idea what the EU is about and certainly not how it works. For example, whilst waiting for some optical treatment a lady voiced " Well, we won’t have France and Germany deciding on our laws !". I did point out that no legislation ever comes into force unless acceptable to all member states : disbelief on her part. Sometimes I despair. I do enjoy these videos for how Europe sees our stupidity.

  6. Berend Dijk on March 20, 2021 at 2:33 am

Any Dutch wanting to Nexit can f*ck off to the UK.

  7. Mark Garnett on March 20, 2021 at 2:33 am

  9. naon 77 on March 20, 2021 at 2:38 am

unfortunately the English were deceived by a large group of populists who for the most part did not even know what they were doing. this united Europe will have to be careful that this does not happen again in another member state

  10. Andre.b. Hertsenberg on March 20, 2021 at 2:39 am

Totaly agree on your analises. . We, The European allies, do NOT want war, under any circumstances. Be we DO need each other to make this point.

  11. Maarten c on March 20, 2021 at 2:39 am

    If Brexit shows one thing,
it is how stupid you can be to leave the European Union.

  12. Alan Saxon on March 20, 2021 at 2:39 am

Marc you know your politics. Holland is a little country but you seem to have a handle on their balance of power. You guys flew military planes to pick up Italians to your hospitals. Why can"t we brits think like the other Europeans it baffles me. Keep up the education, we need you and others to tell us what is really going on. We only get lies from our own politicians and Stories about the arguments within our royal family from our media. I must confess before finding channels like yours and a few others I looked around even my wife lovely as she is seemed to take what our media fed us as real and true. I constantly felt led by the nose and instinctively felt only half a story was being told. I am so much better informed by channels like yours that tell it like it is.

  13. Ze Santa on March 20, 2021 at 2:46 am

Here in Portugal we appreciate Germany sending military doctors to help with the pandemic , so im with you when you say that the EU is more and should be more than economics

  14. ramarkble101 on March 20, 2021 at 2:46 am

VVD is pro EU only for the economic side off things. VVD is off the opinion that the EU must have more benifits than costs. The VVD does not like the political EU.

  15. staunch2207 on March 20, 2021 at 2:50 am

    Pronounced. STIN JEE. ! Stingy.

  16. Kristian May on March 20, 2021 at 2:51 am

Holland is doing very well out of brexit and has led to a boom for Dutch logistics companies as they set up there rather than the UK because of export difficulties.

  17. valicourt on March 20, 2021 at 2:52 am

Leaving the EU wasn’t even an issue frankly. Nobody is considering that anymore.

  18. jan pattyn on March 20, 2021 at 2:52 am

Hahaha , we got 750mljn from the Eu ( brexit compensation fund) plus many english …euh .. British companys moving to Rotterdam and Amsterdam. Hmmm..
Hahaha.. thank you … brexit is bliss…

  19. Erwin Jansen on March 20, 2021 at 2:55 am

Here on the Costa del Sol Spain, the Dutch don’t really get along with the Brits.

  20. Jan Nijkamp on March 20, 2021 at 2:55 am

If the Dutch go Nexit I will move to Germany for sure. The border is about 30 minutes away and we happen to speak a little German. It would mean the populist parties are in power and that it is a reason to flee to Germany in itself.
The company that we work for is based on the Rheinland business model after both my partner and I worked for the best part of our professional life for Anglo Saxon companies. It good to do business with them but we are more connected to the German business style.

  21. ThW5 on March 20, 2021 at 2:56 am

6:03 Ouch, That have She not just straight, to express it in my worst Denglish, the party of which the name is "The Greens" in Dutch was List 36 and only ran in electoral district 2 Leeuwarden and 9.Amsterdam, the bunch of watermelons you are referring to is called Groen Links, i.e. (the)"Green Left"…It is confusing, but there are two green parties of which "The Greens" are the unimportant one, really a party to vote for if you want to be 100% certain you cannot be blamed for the election of the government.

  22. Tagedieb on March 20, 2021 at 2:57 am

There should be no borders between people/nations, only between the top (rich) and the bottom (poor). [Køpi squat, Berlin] ❤

  23. Michele Diblasi on March 20, 2021 at 2:57 am

There are no 17.4m idiots in the Nederland to hold a referendum

  24. Leatherkid01 on March 20, 2021 at 2:58 am

The EU is great i think…. and as a 🇨🇦 i wish Canada would join (although not likely) one could dream abt it 🤔

  25. in551125do on March 20, 2021 at 3:00 am

A comrade in arms….?…..I don’t think so, about 80% of The Netherlands is pro-Europe and after the mess that brexit has created there are not a lot of people still willing to leave the EU……..

  26. Christoph Altmann on March 20, 2021 at 3:04 am

The Netherlands is so much dependent of free trade in the EU, a NEXIT would be an economic suicide for the Netherlands 🇳🇱.

  27. Rik Bruinewoud on March 20, 2021 at 3:05 am

Nexit, Frexit, etc is just wishfull thinking of Brexiteers who are only left with finding comfort in the misfortune of others.

  28. Tom D on March 20, 2021 at 3:06 am

No. Nexit won’t happen. Bre-entry is more likely

  29. Anthony Tiochta on March 20, 2021 at 3:06 am

    Brexshiters are so stupid

  30. Grumpy Skipper on March 20, 2021 at 3:06 am

According to Brexiteers France, Italy and Germany should be already gone. I keep hearing such predictions for the last 20 years. Even black sheep of the EU like Hungary & Poland won’t leave. Corrupt far right politicians in both obviously know where the money is and how to milk the EU.

  31. Gerard Bryan on March 20, 2021 at 3:07 am

    Greetings Holland ❤️
    From Ireland 🇪🇺❤️🇪🇺

  32. John Russell on March 20, 2021 at 3:08 am

The last Dutch election was accompanied with predictions the far right would go from second to first. They went backwards.
The UK is the B-Ark. Sent off first with all the pointless workers so that the rest could prosper at home..

The most troublesome members are Poland and Hungary.

They have worked out its better to stay…get the benefits….and say stuff what they don’t like.

The EU never created rules to prevent it.

    Leaving is stupid..

    The UK where stupid.

  33. misterbacon on March 20, 2021 at 3:09 am

Keep on dreaming! Brexiteers are alone with their lunatic ideas. The Netherlands knows how big it is and what power it has and where it’s interests are. That’s why the Netherlands will stay in the EU.

  34. Helder Lopes on March 20, 2021 at 3:11 am

Thank you Germany for helping us Portuguese! Big hug and respect!

  35. Peter Vautmans on March 20, 2021 at 3:13 am

In every country you will find people who are against the EU. You can divide these in to two classes: the first xenophobic extreme right wing, who want to reinstall borders in order to keep foreigners out. The second group, selfish people who want deregulation in order to get rich on the back of others. Together these groups will always be a minority.

Brexit is all about reinstating the empire and its power, so for brexit top succede it is mandatory that the rest of the EU collapses, that way, the UK becomes important again (divide et impera).

Especially when peolple see what will happen after april, they will realise how good we are in the EU.

(Next month, the EP will not sign the trade agreement, because of the total arrogance of the English, so it will be no-deal
The entire financial service sector will move to the Netherlands and Germany.
Every product the UK provides can be sourced from another EU state, within a 48 hour lorry drive, whereas the UK will have to source it’s products in Africa, Asia or America. The closest non Single market country being Morocco, more then 2000 km away by boat.)

Dutchies hate the EU! They have to use hard hats because it is raining money in Amsterdam 😱

  38. Frank Peeters on March 20, 2021 at 3:16 am

I don’t think so…. They have the biggest ports in Europe, to get trade into the mainland…. They’re in the Benelux, where the port of Antwerp trades the rest of EU comes in… well 60% for both… They sgorely would like maybe, but they’re no fools, they maybe like to leave in some way or other, but more "souvereignity" won’t cut the cheese…. and they don’t have strict ties whit ex-colonies anymore, not in the way the Brits pretend to have….

  39. DentalAmsterdam on March 20, 2021 at 3:17 am

I’m from Holland, no way Holland is leaving the EU. We’re too small to be independent.

  40. Jonathan Mills on March 20, 2021 at 3:18 am

As an independent observer, "Will the Nexit come after Brexit"? I am sorry for that to happen the Netherlands government would have to offer its electorate a referendum, not a chance! If (and i say a big if) that this time next year Brexit turns out to be a huge success, would any "sovereign" country in the EU Blok be brave enough to allow a referendum on an in/out vote? Best wishes and stay safe……

  41. Hornblower Karl on March 20, 2021 at 3:19 am

Marc, I’m truly pleased with your comments about what Europe is all about. Solidarity is indeed a word that should consolidate the unity among everyone. True, there are things that need seeing to but it is only a matter of will & time.
Thank you again for all the effort and time you dedicate to keep us updated.

  42. Diarmaid O'Riordan on March 20, 2021 at 3:19 am

As long as the EU remains confederate and doesn’t switch to a more federate setup then I’m happy with further integration 👍🇮🇪🇪🇺

  43. Bob Van Heumen on March 20, 2021 at 3:19 am

You forgot to mention that Volt a very very pro EU party also got 4 seats with the first time they ran nationally

  44. Patrick H on March 20, 2021 at 3:22 am

Congratulations to the Netherlands from a Pro-European stuck in Brexit Britain.

  45. Nick Peters on March 20, 2021 at 3:22 am

Marc , you have talked about the advantages of being in the E.U. All that has been taken away from people living in Scotland and N Ireland, which was not their decision. Scotland has a chance for self determintion , throw off the 300 hundred years of being shackled to an outdated self serving oligarchy.
    "Scotland for Independence"

  46. Rob Jolly on March 20, 2021 at 3:23 am

Absolutely not. We may sometimes behave like idiots but we are not stupid.

  47. JonathanSwiftUK on March 20, 2021 at 3:23 am

Very sad we’ve left the EU, but glad others have learnt from our mistake and can see they are a lot better off as a collective of cooperating, closely-aligned nations, a club of diverse countries working to promote shared values, goals and projects. It demonstrates that it is possible for many countries to join together, to cooperate, to agree common rules which forms a good framework allowing them to participate seemlessly as if one giant group.

  48. Rob Wilson on March 20, 2021 at 3:24 am

There is precisely ZERO chance The Netherlands will leave the EU. Bollocks to Murdoch, bollocks to the Tories and bollocks to Nazi slime everywhere.

  50. Hope Forbetter on March 20, 2021 at 3:25 am

With China’s growing confidence in their global influence, and with Putin, an ageing dictator capable of all tricks in his war chest to retain power,, Europe should stay unified!
