  11. sami houmaira on February 23, 2021 at 10:31 pm

If you’re going to include Intel CPUs in your laptop, give the people some AMD versions too if they wanted maximum performance.

isn’t thunderbolt 3 license free? ( 12:22 ) I thought that thunderbolt 3 and USB 4 are now free for every body and compatible with AMD systems. Just checking. Not hatin.

  18. Eduard Shulz on February 23, 2021 at 10:42 pm

When finally we should expect Dell XPS 15 with AMD? Hmmm, Dell takes so long time to switch…

  19. sami houmaira on February 23, 2021 at 10:43 pm

I think that the top lid must be thicker, in order to have both small bezels, and a better webcam up-top

The dell rep at the end be like right that down right that down.

BE CAREFUL – Do not buy this computer, customer service sucks, they didn’t care about helping me with my problems and I have this computer for 3 months and I am still having issues every day. They don’t care about the problem and they are just letting the time passing by, I think it is because they want me to pay an extra warranty. If you are thinking in make an investment in a new computer, I highly recommend do not buy this computer. OVERHEATING, SCREENPLAY PROBLEMS AND TOUCHPAD IS NOT WORKING WELL. I´M JUST POINTING THE MAIN PROBLEMS.

  22. 1111undici1111 on February 23, 2021 at 10:45 pm

I have had Dell XPS 15 for about 6 months now. It has Intel i9 and 64GB of RAM and the fan is almost constantly on making a loud noise. Sometimes the fan noise is so loud that it’s like a turbo jet taking off. This happens even when there’s no user apps running on it and the load is minimal. Needless to say this is my last Dell I will ever purchase. I put about $4000 on this piece of junk.

  23. Lukas Bostick on February 23, 2021 at 10:45 pm

It would be nice if shipping for any model of XPS 15 or 17 wasn’t longer than a month.

  24. wayne mcgaughey on February 23, 2021 at 10:46 pm

So it drains the battery and will shut off eventually if you push it’s limits. Lol I’ll pass for 1900$

  25. Stephen DiNardo on February 23, 2021 at 10:47 pm

Gun to your head, do I pick XPS 17 or Alienware M17 R4? Or Alienware M15 R4 OLED?

  26. Matthew Reddick on February 23, 2021 at 10:47 pm

Need a reasonable touch screen. I could build a budget rig for the asking price of this feature. C’mon dell. Shame.

  27. Jason Oesch on February 23, 2021 at 10:48 pm

Concerning the charger for the XPS 17. Don’t quote me on this, but if I understand correctly, the USB-C standard has a maximum power delivery of 20V / 5 A, which makes the 130 Watts that Dell is pushing through already quite mindboggling. Maybe they just didn’t have enough wizard juice to increase the USB-C charging and didn’t want to resort to a barrel charger for the XPS 17?

  28. Jon Hunt Ficken on February 23, 2021 at 10:48 pm

Anybody have that wallpaper link? The blue swirls?

  29. Robin Kayser on February 23, 2021 at 10:51 pm

Shame on you dell. My xps 15 from 2017 has the same cooling performance like the 2020 model: Around 50w in combined load from cpu and gpu and it reaches 100°C. And without optimizing the cooling sution the maximum cpu boost lasts for 30sec. Everyone can imagine what happens if you throw a cpu and a gpu with a higher tdp in the 2020 model…

    … THERMAL THROTTLING

  30. Blaž Bohinc on February 23, 2021 at 10:51 pm

What I find baffling is how they’re able to get a 3950 score with stock thermal paste.. Before upgrading to liquid metal, I was only able to get around 3750. Not I get 4150.

They must have tested at really low temperatures.

  31. F1Andy Startronics on February 23, 2021 at 10:52 pm

How about a follow up on all the XPS trackpad issues?

  32. Grant - on February 23, 2021 at 10:53 pm

My XPS sucks, it freezes all the time and shuts down randomly. DO NOT BUY IT.

  33. Feike Leemkuil on February 23, 2021 at 10:54 pm

I often talk to (non-tech) people about this laptop and they always think it sucks because it doesn’t have a piece of fruit on the back but then they use it for an hour and its done…

  38. MrBrap28 on February 23, 2021 at 11:00 pm

This might help people out that are looking to buy the dell xps 15 9500.

I bought the xps 15 9500 on 27th Dec 2020 but i only received it on 28th Jan 2021. It arrived from china. Seems to be a delay but i didn’t mind waiting.

Before i start one thing really bugs me is the quality of the webcam. I didn’t see any reviews on the webcam before i bought the laptop. The webcam is really qutie grainy and my 10 year old dell xps laptop is 100 times better in webcam quality. I did not expect this from a top of the range laptop. When i researched this further, i found out that the bad quality is due dell choosing a bottom of the barrel sensor for the camera and becuase the camera has to fit in the very small bezel. Some suggestions were to buy a seperate web camera which made a huge difference. Personally, i don’t want to go through the hassle of returning the laptop for the webcam so if i intend to use it alot, i will probably buy a webcam to plug in via usb. However i am very disappointed at the webcam quality (0.9MP max) for such an expensive lapotp.

I bought mine in silver i7 16gb 1tb, and the trackpad issue of it being loose is not there. I am happy i went for the matt screen and not the UHD screen. It does get a little warm on the left hand side of the laptop if im using it for a long period.

The trackpad sometimes doesn’t register my right click, not sure why. When i try clicking in the bottom right corner of the trackpad it sometimes doesnt register it, it’s intermittent but it seems to have gone away now since i started using the laptop more. If the issue persists i will update this comment.

Other than that the laptop has been great and the sound quality is great to.

    Hopefully this will help someone.

  39. Cole Payton on February 23, 2021 at 11:01 pm

Bought this laptop and just got it in yesterday! Opened it up, saw a pop up from dell that some drivers were recommended to update, I clicked okay. It installed them then restarted the laptop. And it has now yet to turn on…. I bought a $2000 paperweight…

Support is filing a request to get me a replacement after trying to troubleshoot and then convince me that they could just install a new motherboard for it (which I declined). We’ll see where this goes…

My 3 year experience with Dell XPS 15 9560. 2016

Dell’s customer support is HORSE SHIT. Massive horse shit.
My screen RANDOMLY broke. Just after warranty so i had to pay 600(!) euros to fix the cheapest screen.
Its expensive as fuck for what you get, i bought it because it was the only powerful laptop that didnt look like a spaceship.
My frame broke randomly at the hinge part. Didnt fix it bc it would be 500€
Screen randomly broke AGAIN. Right after replacement warranty,
    Thermals were SHIT.
Charger wears out easily and a replacement has to include the brick, so it would be expensive.
    They turned off undervolting.

    Positives;
I managed to mod my laptop to the point where no throttling would happen, but it makes u wonder why dell didnt just do what i did. (Better thermal paste, thermal pads, undervolting cpu and gpu)
    Looked hella nice
    Felt insanely premium
    Battery was okeyish
Lcd non glossy screen was quite good
    Easy upgradeability of ram/storage.

I switched to a razer blade 15 2020 with rtx 2060 after my screen broke again. Done with dell

  42. Giuseppe Consoli on February 23, 2021 at 11:02 pm

Hi everyone, I just bought an XPS 9700 almost top specs
for architecture, rendering and related uses.
I was asking my self if using 2 battery charger (on 2 different usb-c)
at the same time would help with that dips-in-battery-even-when-plugged under heavy loads.

    Any clue? thanks

Still have the original version 2007. XPS17 and works just fine…

  44. Patrice G. on February 23, 2021 at 11:08 pm

Still have my 4 year old 9560

  45. Andrew Kingsbury on February 23, 2021 at 11:12 pm

DO NOT BUY THIS LAPTOP!!! I paid nearly $4,000 for the top-of-the-line XPS 17. The laptop had screen issues, webcam issues, and charging issues. I requested a replacement laptop within the 30 return window. My replacement XPS arrived yesterday. The left speaker has stopped working. Dell won’t let me return the laptop because the replacement’s shipping timeframe put me outside the 30 days. Dell also wants me to pay $50 to use Dell Migrate to transfer my files from the 1st faulty laptop to the second laptop. Between yesterday and today, I have spent 8 hours troubleshooting and trying to get customer care to allow to be free of this technological disgrace to humanity.

  47. Baiba Bušmane on February 23, 2021 at 11:13 pm

I just got this laptop. On the first day of having it, it started freezing. The screen would just freeze for no reason at all and would not come back unless I put it to sleep and then woke it up again. The track pad doesn’t recognize me tapping on it sometimes, especially in the left lower corner. Called dell support and they couldn’t figure out what’s wrong with it. Can’t decide if I should send it back. I mean spending 2k on something like that you would expect it to be perfect 🥺

  48. SinsationalMike on February 23, 2021 at 11:16 pm

Laptop may be great but Dell sucks! I bought a XPS15 for my wife. The keyboard arrived not working. Onsite service said it would need a new MOTHERBOARD!!! Returns would only replace with a refurbished unit! Unacceptable which is why it is being dropped off at FEDEX today.

  49. Zachary Thomas on February 23, 2021 at 11:16 pm

Yikes, not sure I can justify 2k on a laptop…
