Don’t get me wrong, nearly half of these absolutely deserve the description "best". But It’s pretty clear that there were some obvious omissions becuase they didn’t meet a certain visual criteria. Nothing wrong with personal taste (there isn’t a bad game on this list) but the description paints with pretty broad strokes, where as the content, is pretty niche.
Kingdom Hearts III, I sometimes doubt if it can be considered an RPG by the die hards but for someone who doesn’t play RPGs I think it’s very accesible and entertaining to watch, listen and play ofc, my only exposure to some Final Fantasy characters too. 😅
Yakuza Like A Dragon!
Yakuza Series & The Judgment series are good. Playing Trials of Mana( liking it so far). Played the Demo of Y’s 7 & 8. I like 7 better. I’m not into Too much dark stories.
Maaaaan I can’t find any good games anymore. It’s all about "power of friendship" this. "Light and darkness" that. And everything’s just re-hashed over and over and over again. I love games, but lately, absolutely NOTHING looks good.

All action-rpgs. Good games for sure, but I’m getting a little long in the tooth for button mashers.

Really happy to see Skyrim mentioned. I know it gets a lot of flake but its still a fun game and a great experience. Plus there are some basic mods that are now possible so thats great too.

FF7 remake is one of the worst RPG’s for ps4
Regarding FF15.. i love the game with my only gripe being the story itself.. i’m biased to great storyline that tips over to happy endings than end all by sacrifice and FF15 is the worst story for my bias.. Gameplay and world is great though.

Some newer games are way overrated. Ys Origin is way better than Ys8 and it’s shit show of a mapping system and the stop start always breaking up the action. Ys Origin is the only game where I will actually grind. I usually would just switch off if grind was required. It’s fun in Origin.
I agree Ys Celceta feels a bit average and I though Felghana was better but be under no illusion about new Ys, the old Ys game engine smashes the new one.

Next up. Tales of. Zestiria I would have paid just for the OST. The world felt kind of real, it was empty in parts but it felt like it should have been empty there and then the city felt real, the woods weren’t overdone, the fields weren’t, it felt like it could be a real world. Next the character’s. Now I can’t relate to American characters. The US fuck everything and this voice acting is no different but again these unbelievably nerdy cunts with shite VA were somewhat believable in the context of the game. For me it gelled together like chicken vindaloo and naan bread. Everything was just meant to be. Zestiria absolutely rapes Arise. Nothing in Arise was fun and nothing worked and it was very fetchy. Berseria, the really dark story? Nah, it just wasn’t. The colours were beautiful though. I thought Berseria was graphically superior to Arise.
Vesperia is a weird one. Very unlikeable character’s, you can’t feel much more forced than a pipe smoking pet wolf. The overworked is outright bad and the game is pretty clunky. It did somehow manage a bit of charm though.
Zestiria>Berseria>Vesperia>Arise
Arise is just all out bad.

By far the best is Path of Exile. F2P also. Way better than Diablo III.
Tales of Arise is one of the best games I’ve ever played period I am now a Tales series fan looking forward to future installments

Was it difficult for your wife to get into the Trail of Cold Steel 3 game without playing the other ones prior? I only ask because i was interested in those games too but pretty much everyone told me that you have to start with the first one in order to understand the story. Im really only a a casual gamer so i had decided to passed on it but everyone time i see someone talk about it makes we want it again.

I personally fell the best console for JRPG’s is the PS2 not the PS1. Some PS2 games are Final Fantasy 10, Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Quest and persona 3 or 4 there are more but this is definitely a good starter list.
Yeah, just gonna throw my voice in here to say that I find the lack of Witcher 3 disturbing. I wonder, did you not play it? Is that not a series that has caught your eye before?
Unpopular opinion: FFVII Remake wasn’t that great. I think I got 1/3 of the way before I just felt like I had played enough.

Love your RPG videos. In my opinion the most valuable and entertaining genre. I don’t have all of those and few off the radar. PS4 has the best RPG library that I’ve ever witnessed. The number of titles is almost staggering.

Great video only two things I have to point out. PS1 and ps2 had more QUALITY. And second thing is. There are literally hundreds more RPG’s on SWITCH (quality of the exclusive rpg’s on switch is better). Most RPG’s on PS4 are on switch. Yet there are hundreds more on switch. Most RPG’s look better on PS4. So if it is on PS4 I will get on PS4 since I dont need a OLED I can carry around with me like most people.
FF15 has the worst fighting system ever. U just need to buy enough healing items and can hold 1 button and win every fight, when u heal enough.

I would add Elex. It’s a game everyone kinda knows it’s weak but those who end up playing it have a great rpg time.
