    Hey Craig,
Looking at a 2017 13” Touchbar MBP with the 3.5Ghz i7, 16GB, and a 512 SSD for $750. I’ll be doing photo editing exclusively. How does this deal sound to you?

Hi there! Great video mate. Question, you’re number 1 pick (2012 27inch desktop) is definitely what I’m looking for. Would you make the same recommendation now that we are in 2021? The most I would probably be doing on this machine is editing music or video (potentially 4K)

Hi Craig, thanks for the video. My first experience with Apple computers was when I worked for a company where the VP of IT absolutely hated PC’s with a passion. Of 70 workstations in the company only one was a Microsoft PC and only because he also designed the Motorcycle OEM exhaust pipes, we manufactured, and used some CAD software that would not run on an Apple system. As I recall we ran some software called Virtual PC which allowed us to use MS Excel and Word. I left the company a while ago and have had to go back to PC’s. My question is , would you have any recommendations for software like Virtual PC that would work today? I haven’t even looked into whether Virtual PC is still around. BTW I had an IMAC at this company and loved it. Never really could see myself buying one because of the price but recently I have been thinking that a refurbished one might be an option. When I worked on the Apple systems it was around about the time that they started using Intel chips.

Hey man. Great vid. What would u suggest for an IMac. I have $1100 to spend. I’m thinking of a 2015 that is upgraded to the max from eBay. Also what is the best OS? And is the ssd better than hdd? Any advice would help. Thanks

Hi Craig, many thanks for your informative video. I’m very interested in buying my first Mac (I’ve had enough of Windows), and I think an older model is the best way to go. I have a noob question re the iMac in your number 1 spot: you say “upgrade to LaCie and external hard drive drive” – is LaCie for partitioning? Can I just add an external SDD without using LaCie, or do I need that?

You left out the best. Mac Pro 2009, add updated processors, RAM, and GPU, flash it to 5,1, install Mojave and you have a real system that has sky-high Geekbench 4 multicore scores. I also agree with the your other selections as well. I own 2012 MacBook Pro 15", Mac Mini 2012, 2011 MacBook Pro 13", and a 2011 27-in iMac with upgraded RAM and a 500GB SSD. All bought used over the years; with the exception of the iMac. They aren’t the fastest or most powerful, but they get the job done for a lot less money then the non-upgradable, far more expensive Apple products today, IMHO.

Let us know your favorites and list of older Apple computers that you can buy today. We are looking at a good price and good performance for basic tasks. Maybe being able to upgrade them is the most important, unlike the newer Apple systems.
