Thanks for helping me pick my parts! Your video + Tech Notics’s video were amazing. I was lucky enough to go to get a graphics card at Micro Center in Madison Heights, Michigan. When they saw I was trying to build a whole PC pulled out a 3060ti for me from the back! I was super lucky. I took a few recommendations on parts because of special deals they were having but your recommendations helped me a ton to not look like such a noob and avoid getting ripped off. Now my PC is 30 times as fast as my 3 year old Macbook Pro which I already had to get the battery replaced.

Quadro cards are for editing video, it seems you recommend high end gaming cards.

  4. Benjamin David Ruiz on February 19, 2022 at 11:14 pm

Hey Matt thank you so much for making this series. It’s been tremendously helpful and, since I live next to the micro center in Mayfield Heights Ohio, I was able to pick up a partially pre-built package with a 3060ti and a motherboard and power supply for under a grand! Thanks again for all the info

Looking for another graphics card that is in stock that would be a great fit for this build. Any options?

  9. Morgan Henton on February 19, 2022 at 11:18 pm

$2000 PC build…. now the option 2 graphics card is $1,800…. that doesn’t leave much room for much else…..

Would a "XFX – Speedster QICK319 AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 12GB GDDR6 PCI Express 4.0 Gaming Graphics Card " be suitable for 4k video editing? Finally found something in stock πŸ˜…

  11. Dave Harris on February 19, 2022 at 11:20 pm

Thanks for this! I know very little about techy stuff like this. While I do mostly editing, I do work a good amount in After Effects, and am starting to work in Blender, as well. Is this a good build for those, as well? Seems like some of the research I’ve done into builds suggests that there is a difference in what is good for editing and for mograph. Thoughts?

  12. KickAssets on February 19, 2022 at 11:21 pm

What would be a batter option if both presented themself? a use 3950x at $550ish or a 5950x at $850ish?

  13. James Miller on February 19, 2022 at 11:21 pm

Hey Matt, looking to start building a PC for video editing in the new year. I love this video and all of the options you built in, but before digging in and starting to purchase I was wondering if anything would have changed since the time that this video was posted? If so, do you think you’ll be making a follow up video sometime? If you are I’ll likely hold off on some purchasing just in case there are now better options out there. Thanks!

  14. Armasar, Space mission. on February 19, 2022 at 11:22 pm

the best review of all, but I would not recommend dropping below $ 2,000 in this, so as not to catch the brakes

  15. Calvin Serrao on February 19, 2022 at 11:22 pm

For the power supply (or any of the other parts), what are good options for someone like me who wants to build this in the UAE? Shipping is not an issue but I don’t want the cpu to get fried after it gets built.

  16. Sebastian Medina on February 19, 2022 at 11:23 pm

at this date the graphic cards are double price for any of those who you recommend, any link that helps?

  17. F C on February 19, 2022 at 11:28 pm

Hey man, I liked you in Big Wednesday. : ) Anyhow, is there any chance of you testing how good the playback is with GoPro files, in DaVinci Resolve? I have a pretty good setup, so I thought, and I am not able to move the timeline "slider" (for the lack of a better word) around without stuttering! Dell PowerEdge T620, Dual E5-2697v2, 64Gb RAM, 2 x SSD for OS, 4 x HDD for storage and GTX 780ti. Still, no smooth scrolling! In Adobe Premiere Pro, NO ISSUE! Thanks.

So will the 5900x blaze through the rendering of 4k 60fps using Reelsteady Go? My current outdated FX8350 struggles to do this, currently clips are rendering at something like 2-5 fps. lol

Hi Matt, my HP workstation just took a dump and as it’s over 5 years old I’m ready for bigger and better.
I really like this build and to be ready for the future. I’m looking to spend up to 6K.
As this was done in 2021 do you have any updates as to the Motherboard or Graphics card or any other parts?
All items listed or the alternates are available.
I shoot weddings in 4k so I’m looking to grow from that point.
    Thanks, J.R. Marshall Houston, Tx

  37. oliiloTUBE on February 19, 2022 at 11:57 pm

Will that AMD motherboard have everything I need to put in a thunderbolt card or do I need to go with Intel for that to play nice? I need thunderbolt for everything I do including nas drives and audio interface.

  38. Guillermo Pabon on February 19, 2022 at 11:59 pm

Hi Matt, I love your videos first of al, I want to know if your high tier build up also support after effect, not just the application but heavy graphics work on after effects? I have an apple 5K retina desktop but it’s not strong enough for the graphics that I do like: green screen effects thank you

  39. DylanG0125 on February 20, 2022 at 12:01 am

I have a simple question, havent seen the whole video yet so I dont know if this is mentioned, but is this 2000 dollar build faster when editing video with premier pro than a new mac with the m1 chip? I’m asking for my girlfriend. I always push custom built PC’s but she’s more of an Apple fan. I don’t want to give advice based on my bias. BONUS QUESTION: Does it really matter how fast your GPU is? She has a GTX 1060 now, is that really so much slower that lets say a 3080? (Im a gamer, so I know of course for gaming its a MAJOR difference, but I dont know what GPU’s do in video editing)

  47. Luvin Itall on February 20, 2022 at 12:04 am

Forgive me if I’m wrong but I calculate that as 2k possible build but just over 3k for the desired build?

  48. dowblab on February 20, 2022 at 12:06 am

I’ve got a 5950x + RTX 3080 + 64gb ram and I get very choppy performance editing XAVC-S 4k24 and 4k60 from my A7IV. I’m not sure why, I didn’t think I’d need proxies with these specs but it’s just not possible to edit without them. I get much better performance with XAVC HS for some reason and don’t need to use proxies. I haven’t tried XAVC-I becasuse I don’t have the cards but I was pretty upset that this build was pretty choppy while editing.

  49. John F. Hebert on February 20, 2022 at 12:07 am

with the price increases Id says you can do this now for around $3700 with taxes and shipping

  50. Gamer Like Dad on February 20, 2022 at 12:08 am
